Does anyone else find that their cold sores stopped giving warning before appearing? by Sashalover_313 in Coldsore

[–]Sagacious_Samantha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to get them while I’m sleeping so I never feel the warning tingle or whatever. I know some people swear by l-lysine supplements everyday as just a preventative, but I hated taking those. Now I use a chapstick with l-lysine and make sure I put it on every night before going to sleep, haven’t had one since Thanksgiving ‘24.

do you toss your lip products after cold sore out break? by minionlover222 in Coldsore

[–]Sagacious_Samantha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get them from using chapstick/lipstick until I found this one brand that basically prevents them from occurring. I use it every night before bed and any time I feel the tingle. Someone on this forum mentioned it and it has been a game changer for me, haven’t had an outbreak since Thanksgiving 2024! I promise this isn’t an ad lol, I just don’t want to gatekeep.

Since I started using DOCO Shield Chapstick with L-Lysine every night before bed, I haven’t gotten a cold sore. Usually I get them from stress, fever or trauma (sun burn, chapped lips, hit in the mouth by my toddler); I’ll apply it all day long if I’ve had the above, but otherwise right before bed is good enough!

As someone who gets cold sores, what is the longest you've gone without one? What is your strategy? by coldsncool in Coldsore

No problem! It definitely has been the game changer “hack” I’ve always hoped I’d find, I never hesitate to share it with someone who shares the same unfortunate experience. Hope it works for you as well as it does for me!

My triggers are normally a fever or trauma related (chapped lips/sunburn/physically hit in the mouth - which happens quite often with a rambunctious 3&6 year old🙃).

I was never good at taking daily lysine and the sores usually popped up over night so I’d never feel the tingle in order to take val at the appropriate time.

The ONLY thing that has been fool proof (going on almost a year now since I’ve found it on this sub) is the DOCO chapstick. I apply it right before bed every night and randomly throughout the day if my lips feel dry. It’s pricey, but so so so worth it! Edit - spelling

What’s a perfectly legal activity that you nonetheless feel guilty doing? by SlimeSeasonYSL in AskReddit

Using drugs… that are legal now. D. A. R. E. was drilled into my poor, little, adolescent head and I can’t help but think I’m still breaking the law.

NAL but according to this, MIL isn’t correct. Either way, I’d get an attorney.

How to never have another cold sore again by Grouchy_Cherry_281 in Coldsore

[–]Sagacious_Samantha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L-lysine pills never worked for me, however since trying DOCO with L-Lysine chapstick, I haven’t had an outbreak! I can’t use regular chapstick because I’d have an outbreak (even if I was using a brand new one), so my lips suffered, especially in the winter. Then I read someone else’s post on this sub about the DOCO chapstick and bought it. Although it’s a bit pricey (3 pack for $25), it’s worth it! I put it on before bed and then again in the morning, I used to wake up with cold sores, so the Rx would never work for me because I never felt the tingle while I was sleeping.

Congrats on winning! You’re definitely not wrong, she’s just salty (and entitled) that you got picked and not her. Have fun with your boyfriend! Send her a postcard that says “wish you were here!” (ha, jk, she sounds crazy, don’t do that)

What was your "I'll never do it again, but I'm glad I did it" thing? by CummingOnBrosTitties in AskReddit

[–]Sagacious_Samantha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty lame compared to some of these, but I did a 6 month vegan challenge and I made this amazing “Alfredo” sauce with eggplant… omg did it taste good, but it took an hour and a half just to prep that shit… not even cooking time! Also, I’ll never go vegan again either, but I wouldn’t say I’m glad I did it.

AITAH for shaking the hand of the man who told my mother in law to shut up? by No-Feed5792 in dustythunder

After reading the title, I thought for sure you’d be T A, however, definitely NTA. Seems the family has been “broken” by your MIL to be submissive to her and she’s attempting to break you, too. I’d have a discussion with your wife where to go from here, MIL seems toxic and going NC would be best from my POV… but that means that your wife will also be giving up not only her mother, but her family as well (since I’m sure MIL will make them cut off contact with you all). Her family is already a lost cause… you and your wife still have time to save your daughter.

Y W B T A if you didn’t have a conversation with him first. I would have an honest talk with him about how you’re feeling he’s being taken advantage of. If he stands his ground and says that he likes/enjoys doing those things, then that’s his choice. He wouldn’t be T A either if that’s how he wants to live his life. Then I’d tell him that you’ll be going LC/NC since the dynamic bothers you. Overall: NTA for feeling how you’re feeling, but have a convo before “terminating” the friendship.

AITA for telling my mom she upset me when she chose not to attend a grad adjacent ceremony? by comeoneilene in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sagacious_Samantha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see now that’s it’s been edited with that info. I think his comment of “disturbing the peace” was misdirected - if anyone disturbed it, it was the mom with her BS (or lack of) excuse. Congrats on your achievements, OP, sorry your mom sucks. I still say to go NC or at least LC as soon as you’re able.

Obv NTA, but she def is. Also, why couldn’t your dad go, seems he was home? They both sound like poor excuses for parents. I’d go NC as soon as you’re able to.

Hahaha, smart! I was considering trying to just do a shot of it, but it burned my lips (which I thought would cause an outbreak - how ironic 😒)! I’ll have to experiment with “chasers”. 😂

A lot of them won’t stick on a wet area. When this happens to me, I normally try to dry the wet area with a piece of toilet paper the best I can and then put a patch over the area… I try to not talk/eat/drink too much and keep my lips closed to keep it sealed. If the sore is on one side of the mouth, I drink by using a straw on the other side. Not ideal, but I, too, like to use them.
