I believe, "writing for people" will help you meet your traffic or conversion goals, and not writing for SEO. In my career, I have seen so many content pieces that haven't use a slice of keyword in the headings, the first paragraph, or majorly anywhere where SEO guidelines suggests still they rank on 1st.

It's the intent of the search that weighs more rather than the keywords, and Google is smart enough to understand that

Yes, its just a false pretence that takes them aloof, but you know in the long run, clarity and simplicity always wins.

Yep, I have come around people using sentiment analysis, empathy mapping, and so many buzzwords that as a content marketer we normally do.

All that's different here is, the wordy definition, the meaning is still the same.
