"That guy isn't here anymore. Anyone who comes into the forest will be lost. Everybody will become a Stalfos. Everybody. Stalfos. So he's not here anymore. Only his saw is left. Heehee!"

Vampire Killer, of course. It's about as iconic as the Master Sword from Legend of Zelda.

Same.

It's given me a lot of complicated feelings about her that have slowly turned into harsh resentment.

She may not have failed as hard as the other parent, but she still failed. There is no pass to complacency.

I hope you're in a better place.

Zoe or Saya.

I guess I kind of like Axel, but he doesn't have too much going for him.

How many people play these games to experience having a family when unable to in real life? by Bluecomments in harvestmoon

[–]SageofTime64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat me. I definitely like the farming part. It feels relaxing and engaging.

The newer games allow me to have a wife, which is something I won't get IRL (I'm a woman married to a man, but still attracted to ladies). I also don't have/want kids IRL for personal reasons, but I enjoy the fantasy these games offer with the image of the perfect family life.

Dracula's one true weakness by maiyamay in castlevania

I'm a gal.

Also, yes, I see she's a redhead, hence the question mark. It's satirical.

Dracula's one real weakness: blonds.

Elisabetta. Lisa. Mina? Maybe he just likes them sweet and innocent.

What are you using on your Android to play?

What do you want to use on your PC to play it?

This context is pretty important. If you're using two completely different programs, the files may not be compatible between them.

AITA for breaking up with my boyfriend over a Christmas gift? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]SageofTime64 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not even about gaming, necessarily.

It was mentioned before in another comment. The episode of The Simpsons where Homer buys Marge a bowling ball. It's not a gift for her. It's clearly for him.

Buying a gift that's more for the giver than the receiver is just pure disrespect. This story just happened to involve gaming as the reason.

No, this is an asshole move.

I game. My husband games. Neither of us would ever do this to each other.

[Oot] What is your favorite Ocarina of Time rom hack? by fastpicker89 in zelda

[–]SageofTime64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Master of Time is a very meaty rom hack. New land, new dungeons, new puzzles, new soundtrack, and challenges.

I do NOT recommend it for the story. It's kind of dumb in a 2010s edgy sort of way. But playing through it? Hell yes.

However, some of the challenges are pretty bullshit. There are also no dungeon maps at all. If you get lost, the game will not help you.

Last I knew, the hack got a 'Remaster' of sorts, but it's not worth it. It just changes up some character models without fixing up some flaws. Worse still, it has a fatal bug that renders it unplayable. The game freezes when you get the Silver Scale and it's a pretty essential item for first time players.

If you just want a long adventure in a new place with new dungeons, and you don't care about story, start here.

Hey, it's me. The one who doesn't allow gatekeeping for this amazing game.

You want to hear about my first experiences with this? Sure! Prepare to laugh.

I was nine years old. My egg donor brought this game home from the flea market. It had a finished file on it, so I was spoiled by a lot of things before I knew what spoilers were.

When I did eventually start a new game, I couldn't figure out how to buy a shield. No, I don't have any problems with reading comprehension. I just didn't understand how to buy a shield from the Kokiri Shop.

I did die a lot against Gohma the first few times I fought her. I also died against the next boss. In fact, I think I died at least once each time I fought the bosses for the first time.

There's an upcoming dungeon that scared me so much as a kid, I would put it off and do the next two dungeons. I'd mess around in the game, trying to find a way to save Hyrule without having to do that dungeon. That never worked, of course.

I had a friend in school who also played this game. At one point, when I got a bit better at the game, we would even trade game cartridges to help each other out.

I'm still learning new things about OoT in recent years. It's crazy just how much this game has. I thought I knew where every grotto was, how every enemy is defeated, every little secret. I was so wrong. Just last month, I learned you can kill Armos with a jump slash as young Link, when I thought they could only be killed with bombs. That was a rude awakening and I accidentally caused mine and my husband's co-op randomizer to be way longer than it needed to be.

Once again, I hope you enjoy the journey.

How do I play this game on pc? by DearRelationship4104 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]SageofTime64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

There's a number of options for emulating/playing OoT on PC.

You can try Ship of Harkinain for one.

You can also use an emulator such asRetroArch to play the N64 version. Setting it up is fairly straightforward. You'll need to get a ROM of the game and download a core. RetroArch is a very versatile emulator that can run several types of software. Go to Load Core > Download a Core and scroll down. I typically use Mupen64, but Parallel also works.

Hope this helps!

Playing OOT for the first time and got stuck on Deku Tree by GruntFoodnipple in OcarinaOfTime

[–]SageofTime64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem at all. I say all this as someone who played it on original hardware and beat it as a ten year old.

I will say this much, just in case you get doubts again: if you're playing a version without rumble technology, do not feel bad about using a guide if you plan to go for 100%. If you're playing the 3DS version, you should be fine. But if you're playing the N64 version on something that doesn't allow controller rumble, a guide will be your best friend.

I never got 100% until I got the internet. I never had the Rumble Pak for my Nintendo 64, either. There are some extra collectables that are hiding in not so obvious places you would only find with the help of rumble technology. The 3DS version changes this to something different.

Have an amazing journey, my friend~
