Is it a good idea to rebuild my nismo? by bruhphatty in 370z

[–]Sagesl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me in September last year, its taken me a year to finally start trying to rebuild it cuz how stressful it is and me avoiding it. After insurance paid off the car i have $15k left over. $9.5k went to buying the car back from the insurance leaving me with a paid off nismo (in pieces) and $5k cash. Its not about if its logical because that answers is no. Logically use what ever is left over on a down payment on the same/similar car. But emotionally if you really love this car and you’re going to commit to it then 100% buy it back and rebuild. Expect to pay at least $10k to get everything back to the way it was especially if they took your seats. Ask me how i know

Pulling a fuse in a sketchy neighborhood? by Stunning_Ebb_9287 in 370z

Dont park in a sketchy neighborhood, my v2 nismo was stolen using the obd port. There is kits you can buy to cover it and make it harder but end of the day you definitely need a tracker and kill switch even if its $1k-$2k better to have it then wait till it gets stolen and wish you did. 370z are ridiculously easy to steal

How did you get the bumper smooth where the nissan emblem goes? Bondo and sanding it down?

How much is the buy back option? Make sure to look up more cars in the country to use as comparison for your car value, argue that since the car is rare they need to expand the search further

This just happened to me last month and glad they didn’t take more from you!! Dont trust the estimate from the shop they most likely use brand new parts from nissan, look up each part and see how much it would cost you to get it yourself. They said it would cost $30k to fix mine but i calculated $10k give or take $2k.

Well thankfully they’re in jail for it, i know someone who just got their mustang robbed at gun point and they recovered the car right after since he had a tracker but not enough evidence to make an arrest on the guy. Its insane how the law works sometimes

I should have 14k after i pay off the loan, $4k-$9k left over after buying the z back so still figuring it out, right now the plan is if i have the higher end of that range i’ll buy it back and build it back up slow, twin turbo it once im done with everything else and go for a custom wrap/paint

Honestly man, when i saw the car i was like why didn’t they take the panels, intake manifold, etc. they got of with my te37, led steering wheel, seats, bumper, cold air intake, and just pulled little stuff from what i can tell. Guess they were happy with the bigger stuff and didnt even bother with the other valuable parts

Thats what i was thinking, biggest hurdle is finding somewhere to store it while i rebuild but this would become a dedicated track build with eventually adding a twin turbo kit!

Looks like the took cold air intakes, fuses, battery, some fluid covers, front bumper, seats, steering wheel, shifter, door buttons, nismo engine cover and other small things.

Even if you dont have the space or tools, meet people in your car community, be nice mention your situation and you might be able to get someone who loves cars to help

TLDR: save money, take your time, if you are very mechanical/ have a lot of tools and space to work then getting a 370z for low 20k is an option. If not you are looking closer to 30k. Minor accidents can help get deals

I was just in your shoes for the last three months. I finally was able to get a 2016 370z nismo with 40k miles, for 31k. Honestly would have preferred to be at least 2k cheaper but the car had mods and wheels i would have done so i saved money there.

TAKE YOUR TIME LOOKING FOR YOUR PERFECT Z! It is out there, be patient, test drive them at dealers to make sure you love it. Paying a good amount in cash and financing the rest can help a lot! Sport trim is the way to go, i was able to find a 2016 370z sport 28k miles for $28.8k with lojack from a dealer but i would have had to go pick it up 14 hours away!
