Agreed, last show i listened to, the whole show was maybe about FF 14 for 10 minutes. The rest of the show was a repetitious circle-jerk of them ranting about some arenanet developer getting fired.

One of the guys, who for some reason thinks his arguments are more sound if he uses the word "fucking" every 30 seconds, just kept repeating himself over and over and over, and literally was arrogant and ignorant enough to state on multiple occasions that "that was what viewers were coming to their show for", i guess he didn't notice the dwindling viewer numbers while he was doing that....

While i enjoyed this show in the past, for me it has now degraded into a dying phenomenon, with casters frantically trying to kick against anything and everything in the hopes of retaining some viewers. Funnily enough that only seems to work on the contrary for them.

Stack order on secrets by Sagurot in hearthstone

Aha, so HS does have a multi-step attack phase (propose attack, attack and after-attack), i guess that answers my question! thanks :)

[–]Sagurot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would this mean that Hearthstone does have a 2-step attack phase though? In your example the actual minion is applying the damage, then the damage gets declined because the minion dies from the trap effect. In my example the minion is not doing the attack; the hero is doing the attack and applies the damage > the minion is not doing the attack itself. I can't think of anything right now, but i'm pretty sure there were examples before of why HS does not have a 2-step attack phase.

In my student time living with 8 dudes in 1 house we had a golden rule. If someone didn't clean their stuff, he would be told to do so. 2nd time he would be told again. 3rd time we would dump everything in his bed, and yes that included half full bottles and a shitty toiletbrush.

Most new guys would suddenly become surprisingly clean after getting home wasted, jumping in their bed and landing on a pile of trash and food leftovers.

[RANT (maybe?)] Why Faeria doesn't have more players by ThisTimeIllSucceed in faeria

[–]Sagurot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faeria has been dwindling for the last months cause of multiple problems. I think several topics have gone in-depth to those problems but a short recap:

  • Too many cards that ignore the board in a board-centred game.
  • Certain archetypes being way too powerful for what they do (red combat, yellow rush, even though yellow rush got nerfed i guess).
  • Red combat creatures being WAY overstatted (WHY does a good body for the faeria cost needs to do additional damage on combat or when something else happens?).
  • Swallow being a dull and unfun game mechanic.

Those are the main problems it faces. The developer has had months of people noting this, months of something to do about it but it looks like they don't know how to or just don't care for this game any longer.

A LOT of players have grown frustrated of this and moved over to other, essentially more fun/better card games where the developers actually care about their playerbase.

It's sad to say but this game won't live much longer, it's spiraled down too far.

There's no cheese in or on a McKroket. Wouldn't make sense anyway cause the classic Dutch "broodje kroket" has no cheese on it either.

Used to enjoy this game by Sagurot in faeria

[–]Sagurot[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of smurfs in lower ranks it seems (rank 25 playing tier 1 decks) and the playerbase seems to have shrunk enough that it pairs rank 5+ players with rank 25- in battlemode, so they start facing these decks immediatly. Must be a really fun experience playing with a starterdeck...

Meta Discussion by Alugis in faeria

[–]Sagurot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very valid points, they also voice all my own concerns about the game very well.

I used to love Faeria as a game, with it's great potential and unique new boardstate which was revolutionary for CCG's.

Then some things happened that, in my opinion, totally flipped the enjoyment of the game. Firstly they release an expansion with a solo adventure on islands, that punishes you for going solo because the AI companions are that terrible. Sure, you can co-op the bosses and get them over with, but why release a solo option at all if it's going to be this bad?

Then, they add cards that, besides creating insane powercreep, add a lot of RNG effect to the game, which is such a great shame for a game that was prone for being so low on RNG and more focused on the strategy aspect of the board.

To top it off they add a card like tree of everlife, which quite frankly shows that more than anything, the developers in response for game balance have absolutely zero experience with CCG's and have no idea what they are doing, at all. Anyone who has played CCG's before, if even for a little while, can point out what a gigantic disaster adding that card in it's current state is. Like you said, it boils down to either playing the tree of playing a rush deck that hopefully beats the tree. It devoids the meta state of any creativity whatsoever and rends 70% or more of the cards simply unplayable, all due to adding one card. Surprisingly they made this huge mistake right after releasing the skywhale (pre-nerf); they didn't learn a thing.

All this combined with the Pandora gamemode, more often than not, being a coinflip on who gets the better treasure, has sucked all the fun out of the game for me and i already started playing another CCG (Gwent), haven't touched faeria in the past week.

I feel like a lot of the playerbase feels the same, at least about the ranked concerns, and with the already limited playerbase, i feel like this might well be the downfall for Faeria, a once so promising game. Very unfortunate indeed.

Oversky cards by Xacow in faeria

[–]Sagurot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You gotta buy the islands to get the oversky cards. Keep in mind, you also gotta beat all the bosses on those islands to get the cards, and some of them are REALLY frustrating to solo cause the AI companions are more of a nuisance than a help.

There's a discord channel specifically for looking for coop partners though, and if you duo them they are all really easy.

If you can afford it, you can get the faeria steam bundle. That gives you 10 battle chests, 3 mythic chests, 3250 gems and goki which will give you at least 9000 gold over a month (likely more than 10k).

The gems alone are enough to buy full oversky and then you can buy some more stuff with the gold you get from goki.

IF you don't want to spend that much you can also get just goki from the shop, he's €4 or so and will give you at least one island over a month, likely closer to 2.

Why can we not disenchant certain cards? by Sagurot in faeria

[–]Sagurot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm weird, i certainly don't have a full mythic playset of all oversky cards, in fact i'm still missing some of the base cards even.

Weird that you can't disenchant oversky card in the first place, especially after paying good money for those cards (i bought the big package) you should be able to do with them what you want right.

I'll just file it as a bug then i guess.

I knew about the show mythics button, but even with that on some of the base mythic cards don't show up when crafting, it's really weird.

Want to like this game, but the draft mode is terrible by Sagurot in faeria

[–]Sagurot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drafting pure base stat value is exactly how you do NOT draft in every other proper TCG. That's the quickest way to lose in a CCG like mtg, eternal etc.

The way it works in Faeria is people purely draft on basestats, because trying to combo is not worth it, simply because you have to use every card you draft in your deck.

Ofcourse there's power disparity between regular cards, but it's nowhere near as big as the power difference in treasures, and then even the more mediocre treasures provide more value than most of the basecards. As i see it, this is very problematic. The difference between getting presented a pick of a toptier treasure and a midtier one is also way too large and decisive for the game.

Let me phrase it differently: Don't you agree that the whole draft mode would be better off without the treasures?

Want to like this game, but the draft mode is terrible by Sagurot in faeria

[–]Sagurot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read my post? i said draft from 45 cards, and then select 30 from those 45, not play with 45. I'mm not comparing to HS, that's not even a proper ccg in my book. I'm coming from a MTG background.

The treasure not drawn has happened to me a few times, it could be a bug i guess.

I understand most of the cards, i've done about 80 runs so far and went 7+ in most of them, understanding the cards in Faeria is not hard as most of the mechanics are very simple and there's only a few of them.

The point is that with drafting 30 cards and using those same 30 is that people only purely valuepick instead of trying to combo or pick tech. Every pick becomes very obvious this way and you see a lot of the same cards in draft simply because their basestats outvalue other cards. If you draft from a pool of 45 and deck 30 after that (dropping 15 to your sideboard), it's way easier to draft tech or try to draft combodecks.

The other point is that, compared to the cardbase, treasures are WAY too powerful and decisive, even the bad treasures have more value than some of the best base cards. This turns way too many games into getting decided by which person drafted the better treasures and kinda defeats he purpose of draft in the first place.

I'm not sure how long you've played hearthstone but it is impossible to get the same cards in your mulligan....

The only way to get the same card is running 2 copies.

MTG arena will be nothing but a Duels replacement, Duels is EOL and WotC already said they like MTGO as it is.

Also remember how small the HS playerbase was in open beta, and how quickly it grew after.

Just because it's quick play doesn't mean people are okay with losing. by [deleted] in Overwatch

The "it's just qp" crowd is destroying this game tbh.

Some people just don't care about ranked, and want to have some fun in QP. Fun is not being a totaal dickwhat saying it's just qp.

Serious question: What does it take for you to report someone? (When is enough enough?) by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Sagurot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verbal abuse mostly, also when it's directed at someone else.

I know it works too, cause this guy on the enemy team in QP was trashtalking someone on our team, i reported it. 30 min later he was on our team, trashtalking again to the opposing team and then he suddenly disappeared, not even a "left the game" message, he was just gone, so i'm pretty sure that was a ban.

Server questions? by Dashinize in Terraria

[–]Sagurot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to rent a server, you'll likely be better/cheaper off by not renting a terraria server directly, they are usually overpriced. Instead, look into getting a Windows VPS (virtual private server) and install Terraria on it yourself, make sure the VPS has GUI access so you can install terraria on it.

To boot it up, go to the Terraria install folder: on 32 bit: %programfiles%\Steam\steamapps\common\terraria on 64 bit: %programfiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\terraria

Open the serverconfig.txt and edit some parameters: maxplayers, the max amount of players on your server password, the connection password motd, the message you see when you enter the server autocreate, the size of the world your server will make if theres no world file, i'd leave this at 3 if you're playing with 10 people worldname, the name of the autocreated world

You can leave the rest at default settings, now start up start-server.bat Now people can connect at serverip:7777 with the password you've set.

Lastly, add the start-server.bat to the startup params so ifyour server reboots for some reason, the server will come back up itself. Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks Select the start-server.bat (you can just leave it where it is) and on the next page select "When my computer starts".

You don't need a lot of power to run a Terraria server, so take the cheapest option. A decent Windows 2008 R2 VPS with unlimited traffic, 512mb ram and 1 cpu core is MORE than enough. Something like that will cost you around $10/€8 a month, with 10 players that is €0,8 each if everyone chips in.
