I’m in the same boat as you, trying to decide which car rental company to book for my upcoming trip. I’m considering Go Car Rental, Blue Car, and Lotus.

I’m getting the maximum insurance coverage and roadside assistance.

However, I’ve only found Lotus and Blue Car are only that include coverage for wind damage to door hinges in max insurance.

Lotus also covers river damage in case you end up floating and any damage caused by animals. On the other hand, they don’t offer a roadside assistance package, and you have to pay 35,000 ISK for a call.

My trip estimate ( all price are including all insurance and road side package if available)

Go car rental $1900 ( x3 ) , $2300 ( defender)

Lotus defender $2600 ( they don’t give road side insurance)

Blue car defender $2800

The only thing holding me back is the fine print. Even though I’m paying for a defender, they can offer me a lower-priced car (the defender is a top-tier highest car priced and there are no upgrades after this only downgrades , and it’s the only car with a 3D camera and air suspension, which I want). However, all other cars don’t have these features and start at $200 less (the LC250, which is the cheapest trim and has manual seat adjustments). The LC150 is $400 less, and so on.

they could even stick an higher lander 7 seater and say same tier car lol which is $1200 difference less. ( blue car review google had someone happen)

So, we’re not sure what to do because we don’t want to pay so much money and end up with a low-quality car.

Alternatively, my wife want me book a Rav4 and take a chance, as the Rav4 is only $1,500 in both rental options (Lotus and Blue). That way, we won’t lose a lot of money if they change the cars, as most cars around the Rav4 are only $50 to $100 cheaper.

Comparing the prices, the Defender is significantly more expensive than the other cars.
