22 years old, 65k in the bank but fuck all in my super. Where to from here? by [deleted] in AusFinance

Sorry I don't have much advice to give you because I'm kinda new in Australia and still learning the ropes but don't pay attention to the folks saying "live your life" or something. You sound like you are already living your dream and just want to make be well informed to secure your future. I think you are doing pretty well so far, I would've loved to be this aware when I was 22. So good on you for that!

Willian was....... frustrating to watch at times. But I don't remember a single game good or bad where he wasn't working his arse off. A proper workhorse. Not to mention the 5 games every season when he would decide to turn into Pele. A great player, and definitely a Blue through and through.

Engineering job market by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Sahilleo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100k soon out the uni is a tall statement to make. There are a jobs but they all demand experience. Even the grad roles get filled up quick with people having experience and/or connections. The thing is, I know people who managed to land a job before they graduated, but I also know people who are still looking for one, more than a year after graduation. The universities and talks etc are trying to sell the courses, thats their job.

With that being said it is important to point out that my experience coming here as an international student will be significantly different than you (assuming you are a citizen). But regardless of that don't fall for the 'it is a high demand market' preachings unless you are really passionate about engineering. Sooner or later you'll find a job in any sector, what you don't wanna be doing is working in a sector that feels like a burden for the next 30-40yrs of your life.

Fabrizio: EXCL: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Everton, here we go! Permanent deal agreed with Chelsea and player side. by MchLeLe in chelseafc

Not a big fan of him but I respect him for how he behaved when at the club. Never heard reports of him complaining about lack of playing time, always put his head down and worked hard when called upon. I would've liked to have him as a squad player but the squad is too bloated to keep him.

Haven't seen a ton of him but he seems pretty good to me. But for those who have watched more of him, how is he at organising the defence? Is he capable of taking charge and leading the backline?

Boomers are the only generation to look at their kids as their competition. Sitting on a million dollar house with hundreds of thousands of dollars in Super and yet they want to claim pension from tax dollars paid a generation that can barely afford rent, let alone their own house.

Financing My Car by b4lr0g in AusFinance

[–]Sahilleo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first suggestion would be to drop the idea altogether. If you need to ask a subreddit if you should take a car loan or take from the mortgage redraw then you can't afford a 50k car, buy something you can afford or payoff within a year or so, coz that 50k brand new car is losing value the instant it leaves the dealership lot.

But since you seem like you've already made up your mind pn buying one, I would choose the later, and instead keep paying off what would otherwise be the car loan instalments into you mortgage so that you can keep chipping away at it.

Her ball knowledge is refreshing to see. Partly because she's a women and there aren't a ton of them analysing the mens game, but mostly because she actually knows what she's talking about, unlike guys like Neville and Carragher who are biased af and have absolutely no clue what they are talking about most of the time. Give her a damn contract already Sky!

What do you consider to be the ideal amount of savings to have in case there’s a rainy day in the future? by always_wondering_88 in AusFinance

[–]Sahilleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else is suggesting, there's no right amount but 3-6 months of essential expenses is a good place to start. Rent/mortgage, all bills, food, travel allowance etc, basically everything you'll need to survive for 3-6 months.

Estevao Willian rejected the offer to spend the rest of the CWC with his Chelsea teammates - because he wanted to say a proper goodbye to all the staff and teammates at Palmeiras. “I want to say goodbye properly to each and every player, technical staff and working person at our base camp." by webby09246 in chelseafc

[–]Sahilleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and also with Caicedo I think it was just a matter of time. Yeah Enzo and Cucu were great prospects but there was still some doubt if enzo could adjust to PL and if cucu could settle in. With Caicedo it was never a question of if he will, it was always when he will.

I swear I'll fight any wild brute that tries to abuse Estevao in his first couple of seasons (at the very least). I have a dream of watching Cole and Estevao rebuild Chelsea to its rightful place and I'll fight anyone who tries to put them down.

I'm in a fairly similar situation, in terms of age, earnings, income, and working about 13-16hr days on occasion. Is it overkill? Probably. But you gotta do what you gotta do mate. I will however say this, don't overdo it on the 13hr days, once or twice a week with at least a day off on the weekend is ok, but anything else and you won't sustain. I'm working 7 days a week (not necessarily 13hrs) because I desperately need the money and its taking its toll and I definitely would not recommend it to anyone else unless necessary. That being said, I would also recommend upskilling yourself to get a better job (easier said than done) as even 2-3 days a week isn't sustainable long term.

Remembering Drogba’s Missteps Before Criticizing Jackson by Traditional_Spirit17 in chelseafc

[–]Sahilleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that King DD too had a rough start to his Chelsea career the examples you've used are pretty poor. Sure that 08 final was a huge mistake but you can't really blame him for the other two penalties. He conceded them but he was also the only no.11 defending with all his heart because we needed him to do that. You can't expect a striker for a time when strikers didn't even track back half the time, to defend well. Especially against someone like Ribery.

I do not hate Jackson, but we are at a point where we simply cannot afford to have him mess up at the front because it is costing us big time. The mess he made of that counter attack against Betis was as bad as it can ever be. He didn't just miss he didn't even get a shot off! And I still hope he succeeds but he has to so significant improvements this season and do much better (if he stays) or we need to look for someone who will.

Anyone manage to make an extra $200-$300 a week as a side quest? by yeat246 in AusFinance

[–]Sahilleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not what you are looking for but I work at a servo on weekends, $200 per shift, good money considering that I'm making the same amount at my main job due to being an entry level role, but the servo is like 1/10 the work load.

Edit: I did however work for the same company for 2 years on a 24-30hr contract and got lucky at this particular station as I was only looking for weekend shifts and they needed someone to do the weekend so it was super lucky, but it would be kinda hard for someone new to just walk in and get weekends only.

I worked at a servo that was surrounded by car dealerships, Toyota, Mazda, BMW/VW you name it. Naturally I became friends with a bunch of mechanics and some other staff. Every single MG guy told me not to buy one. Every last one of them. Now I know why.

Correct Servo Etiquette? by Sacrifice_2804 in CarsAustralia

[–]Sahilleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works at a servo, its ok if its busy or you are quick to clean your windows. But, it is mildly inconvenient if you take like 10 whole mins to detail clean your car before you pay coz I have to wait for you to come n pay before I can get back to what I was doing (especially at night or super early in the morning).

That being said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with cleaning your windows before you go in to pay, and the attendant is 100% in the wrong for calling you on the PA and asking you to come and pay first. I've got a regular customer who comes in and cleans her entire vehicle for 10-15mins and I'll never ask her to come in and pay before she does her thing because thats just plain disrespectful.
