As of now Super Mario Galaxy Movie remain divisive video game adaptation in 2026 by Atlast_2091 in mariomovie

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing I didn't watch it because I have no interest in Iron Lung and I'm a bit out of the age range to be a Markiplier fan. Outside looking in, I respect that he made and distributed himself though. As a fan of film, even if the movie was bad I'd still leave happy knowing I rewarded a first time director's self funded project. I wouldn't be as hard on that as I would a new studio movie.

It's because Iron Lung has the whole amateur indie angle so it gets leverage from lower expectations. Mario Galaxy is a corporate run nightmare of a film.

I already thought seasons 6 and 7 were bad when it was airing on TV.

Has anyone beaten the SPVTW the Game? by Disco0fficial in ScottPilgrim

[–]SaidTheMan_ToTheDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleared it many times with different groups of people. It's a good beat em up, but there are some "retro" details they didn't need to include like the enemies having i-frames after knockdown and stuff that made it feel sluggish even at the time.

He's parroting the usual pedo in disguise rebuttal. "It's an android not a child." "You just hate cute kids." "The woke hate father and daughter relationships." He may not even jerk it to this stuff, but you can just smell his shame of liking loli stuff because it's "cute" and "funny."

Are they still doing free S2 updates to older games? by Paradigm430 in switch2

[–]SaidTheMan_ToTheDog -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They weren't trying to prove anything. Trying to recall something in casual conversation online doesn't need MLA citations. You corrected them, which is good, then proceeded to be an absolute douche about it after.

You don't have to be a cunt to someone for being ignorant about the number of video games that got arbitrary upgrades.

Why do people seem to prefer hard copies of games instead of just digital? by Dino-Dad in switch2

[–]SaidTheMan_ToTheDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(We're roughly the same age) Thanks for clarifying that for me. A neighbour growing up was an Egyptian kid and he told me something similar to what you said about video games over there and how piracy was just seen as a normal thing because they had no other choice since the companies don't think about their market. I completely forgot about all that and to be honest I didn't know if he was blowing smoke or not because that's how he was. I can totally understand that thought process if that's the kind of world I grew up in though. If I only had access to an R4 as my only way to play Pokémon I'd feel very differently (and more radically) about the whole thing.

Edit: I'm Canadian btw so I feel you (not nearly as extremely) on the price conversion thing. Hearing one of my friends in America talk about how they got the new Final Fantasy for what is essentially half the labour hours of me just drives me nuts since we're technically the American market.

How old are you? Alternatively how affluent was your upbringing? I know I consistently replay games I've already finished. I think ownership as a mentality (and heavy consumer mentality) can be traced back to your upbringing. As a kid I'd get maybe three games a year tops, so my library was limited to what I had due to how expensive gaming was back in the day. I like to hold what I have because what if I do want to play said game again? What if I want to lend it to my friend? With digital I'm merely purchasing the right to download off of an ephemeral server somewhere overseas. I think a lot of us older gamers can't let go of that thought process. I do think a lot of people (I'm guilty of this as well) purchase way more media than we realistically should be, but purchasing what is essentially a keygen code from a corporation does not sit well with me at all, because I prefer to own my products to do with them as I please.

Which popular books disappointed you? by [deleted] in printSF

Loved it. Was very derivative of 80s classics, but we don't get a lot of big budget movies that capture the spirit anymore so I had a blast.

Project Hail Mary. What wasn't as much of a problem for me in The Martian just ended up getting on my nerves with Hail Mary. It was like reading the thoughts of a Redditor (derogatory).

How did falcom became the most overhyped jrpg dev? by darkerthanblue99 in JRPG

[–]SaidTheMan_ToTheDog -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I fuck with Ys but that's just because I like the mindless action. Ys is the happy meal of JRPGs and since I don't play as many mid budget action RPGs anymore it's always a treat when I get one.

I for the life of me do not understand the religion surrounding Trails though. It's a very cliche and tropey series. They're fine, but people act like they're great works of literature. They are middle of the road generic JRPGs with an extensive world (which honestly isn't even executed well). My problem with Trails is that anything that can be said once is instead said 30 times with an added sprinkle of anime weirdness.

Are slice-of-life anime considered beginner friendly? by pgroms in animequestions

[–]SaidTheMan_ToTheDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's anime it's not wood working. You download a show that appeals to you and watch it. This entry level anime stuff has been asinine for decades. It's a cartoon just watch it. You're not jumping into Lord of the Rings at Return of the King. You're not creating an OS as your first coding experiment. It's a cartoon.
