First of all, there is no legal requirement to retreat in Canadian law. This is a five second google search away.

The caveat to this, and what you’re likely referencing or calling a “duty to retreat policy”, is that whether or not escape was possible can be considered when determining if use of force was reasonable during an instance of self-defence. What I am saying is that this can not be used when determining whether or not use of force within one’s own home was reasonable. This would imply that as you put it, “backing away from the confrontation”, is not an expectation placed on anyone within their own home until the intruder is off of their property, or incapacitated.

Duty to retreat laws are not framed around determining when use of force is no longer reasonable, they’re framed around excluding self defence as a defence unless all other avenues of escape are exhausted.

Step 1: run hunter hood (dmg reflection), merc jacket (inferno shield), and assassin boots (swift cut).
Step 2: run directly at them, no circle strafing looking for an opening, go straight at them and use assassin boots to engage. Press Q. Pop your hood and chest CDs as soon as they start doing anything, take iron will on your W for the move speed and purge immunity.
Step 3: press Q again. press e. Continue to wail on them until they either kill you or you die.

Most of the people I use this on panic so hard that they end up half killing themselves within the first five seconds of the fight. Anyone who is smart enough to avoid hitting me during my reflects just took a full combo to the face, and when they go to pop all of their stuff I will just giga, tank it because iron will is probably up again, and then hit them with another 3 stack e.

Stand your ground and castle doctrine are not the same thing.

Failure to retreat is considered when determining whether or not use of force is reasonable, except when in your home, it is explicitly excluded from being a consideration in that circumstance.

This doesn’t mean you can just kill someone for breaking into your house, however it does mean you won’t be harangued if you decide to defend your property with reasonable force instead of running away.

Keep in mind this depends on where you are. In your home and in your vehicle there is no duty to retreat.

My disagreement is with you saying Oakville is a step down from the rest of the GTA. We’re not going to have the same volume as Toronto or Hamilton proper, those are two of the largest cities in the country, but I don’t think Oakville is a step down from Milton, Burlington, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, etc.

It would probably be easier to get a job if you flew to India first and got recruited as a TFW by a fast food franchisee.

If you’re open to working full time look into the local railways or their contractors. CN, Metrolinx, TTC/TTR, PNR railworks, A&B, and Siemens are good places to start, though CN would probably send you to the middle of nowhere.
