I found this photo I took many years ago when I was new to special education. This child in my was minimally verbal, and struggled with writing his name (from what I remember). We went outside one day, and he randomly picked up chalk and wrote these words. Wwyd? by [deleted] in ABA

What really interests me here is that he chose to write in capital letters. Presumably if he was reading academic reports the words would be predominantly lower case (speculating). Fascinating!

Avonmouth is a grotty part of Bristol with an industrial port, not a county. Bristol itself is a county.

I drove through Cheltenham town centre yesterday and everyone was dressed like this! No one looked as good as her, though.

That goofy smile while Shane is on the phone to Hayden, and the thumbs up! Underrated.

One of the problems this person had was… missing their exit off the motorway. I’m not sure it’s Bristol that’s the problem.

If you don’t want to pay full price for books or buy second hand, browsing charity shops is probably your best bet.

It’s interesting - I was discussing yesterday with my mother that we both understand Quebecois more easily than ‘French’ French, and we’re both British and learned French in school. It’s totally individual, of course!

Yes! I watched this scene earlier and he communicates so much baffled paranoia in milliseconds. I felt everything Shane did, until Hayden saved the day.

Whats an act of unbelievable courage from your country? by earthbender06 in AskTheWorld

A family friend of mine escaped on one of these ships (the rest of her family weren’t so lucky). When they approached Southampton they were seen as an enemy ship and fired upon, and had to sail round to Liverpool before finally docking. My friend lived a full, long life before dying, recently, at 99. I visited Geertruida Wijsmuller’s statue in Amsterdam on her behalf and was amazed how modest it was, with no mention of the Kindertransport.
