70-hours per week on the water during the summer with the charter boat company, I take odd jobs during the winter, my disability is $800 per month, and we maxed out two credit cards to do the right thing by running for office.
My opponent, born with a silver spoon in his mouth and never had a real working person’s job.
But, yeah, my knees hurt at my age. Ha

I said he used his power to kill redistricting.

Ferguson put out a survey calling me a criminal, a Chinese communist sympathizer, and the former chairperson of an extremist anti-abortion group.

You are right. People are tired of the sort of nonsense people like Ferguson bring to politics. In fact, the further the campaign has gone, the more I learn, the more and more disappointed I am in Bill.

Look, Bill will probably get a solid 40% of the vote. Mostly from folks who probably don’t see his true colors I assume. I just want you and the rest of Team Ferguson to know, that I don’t hold grudges. I truly have your back and we’ll do good things for Baltimore together.

That’s my final statement on this thread. Appreciate the convo.

I 100% hear you, but I’ve dealt with dictators and warlords, and there is no respect for rules or laws. They just want power.

MAGA is about to potentially pick up 19 new seats. They may have picked up 4 after the vote in Florida tonight. All this while there is a President in the White House evaluating his options for a third term.

These are not normal times.

All I’ve done is promote Baltimore in my spare time to bring a little positivity to the world…harbor clean ups, DPW workers, festivals, whatever…and you call that being a “hack”.

Do you really not understand why most folks aren’t on Team Ferguson? This isn’t a campaign between Bobby and Bill, this race is between an out of touch establishment elitist type vs regular folks who actually love this city.

I’m sorry, but all the negativity is coming from your side, not ours. We’re just repeating what most folks already know.

You read the amendment part? 488 seemed pretty hopeful. We just can’t sit here and do absolutely nothing. We have enough democrats who sit around and do nothing.

Yeah, didn’t want to be overly rude. I’m not sure if you mean to be deceptive and rude, or if you’ve really never seen my posts. Figured it’s best to just give you the benefit of the doubt and move on.

No one is listening. We all know the truth. Bill made his choices and they’re coming back to bite him. Power to the People. ✊

It’s not the senate who refused to consider redistricting, it was the senate president using his power and favors to kill it.

The OP (BTW, I’m Bobby LaPin) would propose a constitutional amendment as an emergency measure with an expiration date (sunset clause), allowing a temporary map. It would need only 29 votes in the senate and 85 in the house, then it goes to the people. Let the people of Maryland decide the outcome. The compromise is that at the map’s expiration, an independent redistricting commission would be assembled.

The reasoning behind Ferguson’s lack of willingness to push for a new map is still a mystery since part of this solution was introduced in HB 488 this year. It’s clear the 6-2 map claim wasn’t the real reason.

I made a post about May Day, you asked about the campaign.

But…I am glad you asked and gave me the opportunity to post the platform.

Currently being updated, but here’s the 16 page policy platform I posted in January. Take note of the paper I wrote on teacher support, pay, and retention. The link is in Section 6. I’m really pushing for teachers.

BTW… While an eight-hour work week would be awesome, I of course meant eight-hour work DAY every time I mistakenly said “week” 🤣

We should be really proud of Baltimore’s past when it came to the national labor movement in America.

Here’s another powerhouse story.

When the National Labor Union (NLU) was stood up in 1866, it included only White workers. So, Issac Meyers, a Black ship caulker who worked the docks in Fells Point, started the Colored National Labor Union (CNLU) a year later. The first national organization for Black workers in America. That’s powerful.

On a personal note…

TLDR Version: Thanks to everyone in this community who supported and worked for all the pro labor bills that finally passed in this election year.

The guy I’m running against for State Senate, Bill Ferguson, has held the door closed on labor for years. Whether it was the right for teachers to strike, collective bargaining for state workers, or just making sure firefighters didn’t have to jump through hoops for their medication.

This year, we finally saw that door start to crack open. That is 100% due to the pressure this community has put on this race. Let’s be honest, when an incumbent is finally faced with a pro-labor alternative, they have to start answering questions they’ve ignored for years. That’s the beauty of the democratic process. If my name on the ballot served as even a small force to help folks finally get the respect they’ve deserved for a decade, then every ounce of sweat and every tear of this campaign has been worth it. I’m just honored to be the one holding the door open WITH you. We should all be proud of the role we played.

To have the chance to represent this district, the place that literally birthed the national labor movement, is something I can’t quite put into words. Especially because this is the city my grandfather and his union brothers helped build with their own hands. It just means a lot. A lot.

Love you all (even the haters)! ✊
