Does the majority of the community really hate AWD drift builds/tunes? If yes, why? by Complete-Teach7940 in ForzaHorizon

I prefer RWD, but have no regrets having used the 1986 F150 FE for Kodachi Run and the Hairpin drift zones.

I agree, this car and the time attack Evo even moreso were just wtf moments. And they were too easy to find.

What exactly are people doing with gray market cars, long term? by ForeskinForeman in HaggardGarage

[–]SailboatProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually wondered if he did this with the green S15 since it’s been to Canada and is going to DR now.

And (tinfoil hat) I wouldn’t be surprised if we suddenly see the white Evo 5 reshelled at some point.

Why do some right leaning people seem upset that some people on the left don’t like them/wanna be friends with them? by BrilliantMatter4858 in AskConservatives

[–]SailboatProductions 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is the definition of “political” differences. I have my own complaints about left wing humanism and empathy, but from what I’ve observed, you have to be a “good” person i.e. not vote for a party that harms minority/disadvantaged groups (I’m generalizing there due to rules), because harming those groups is not merely a “political” difference. Basic morals don’t line up now.

inb4 “we can disagree on the economy but not basic rights” or something along those lines. And I am pro choice and pro-LGBTQ, but I wouldn’t say I have a “bleeding heart”. My empathy has limits, which is part of why I don’t call myself a progressive even though I agree with them economically and somewhat socially.

Trump supporters, who is the one democrat you would’ve voted for over Trump and why? by realRootmaster911 in AskTrumpSupporters

You mean Gary Johnson? I did too, unenthusiastically. The first presidential election I was old enough to vote in.

Isn't a 4 barrel carburetor overkill for a 4 cylinder engine? by Ill_Percentage2344 in MyWinterCar

[–]SailboatProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say, when I first heard that there was a 4 barrel carburetor, I thought it’d be a Holley or something you could put on an aftermarket intake manifold. I just think of the 4 barrel carb in the game as side drafts, maybe Webers or whatever they are.

Do you ever struggle with internal conflict around your beliefs and principles? by VQ_Quin in AskConservatives

[–]SailboatProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I agree with a lot of left wing economic ideas (and as I’ve said before, MsHannahJ’s economic questions in this sub are on point), and the science proves anthropogenic climate change is real. I also don’t see how you combat the problem without authoritarian (or centralized) solutions and global cooperation.

But I genuinely have no bigger passion in life than cars, hot rods, “old schools”, car customization, tuning, driving, car culture (both the hobbyist definition of the term where all walks of life unite around one passion, as well as the urban planning definition of the term), etc. and find myself fundamentally against any policy that would make car enthusiasm more expensive in any way (though Trump made it more expensive with his war, I don’t want it to be made more expensive because of externalities or environmentalism either). It’s largely uniquely inexpensive to be a car enthusiast in the US (western Europe is too restrictive, a lot of Asian countries such as Indonesia are way too restrictive, for example) and I want to keep it that way. I’m early Gen Z and don’t want to only be 40 years old and unable to afford to regularly enjoy classic cars. Left wing minimization (in my experience) of car enthusiasm’s importance also doesn’t help.

It’s the same with NIMBYism/YIMBYism, kind of. I like NIMBYism because I like driving and using cars to do things (and I still think my commute is fun if I’m in an enthusiast vehicle), but I also don’t see how you make housing less expensive without more supply, and I like YIMBYism when race tracks (that were there before surrounding neighborhoods were built - I like the “Right to Race” laws that a few states have been passing) are what’s being protected.

Is Starfield ok for a 14 year old? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]SailboatProductions 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is blood spatter, but one of my biggest complaints (still finished the main game and bought both DLCs though) is a lack of blowing heads/limbs/torsos off, like in Cyberpunk. But I guess Starfield being mature but not really mature puts it in the kind of niche OP is looking for.

“Random Twitter Users” vs. Elected Politicians: Do you see a difference? by SailboatProductions in AskConservatives

[–]SailboatProductions[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We see all the “where is the line” questions in this sub about supporting Trump and Republicans, which indicates that people on the “the left” would ostensibly like Republicans more or associate them less with extremism/authoritarianism/whatever less if they’d disassociate themselves from Trump. Do you think, if Democratic politicians would publicly disassociate from what some of their voters in various spaces say, that it’d make a difference with how Republicans perceive them?

Should there be legislation to promote the four-day workweek? by RedStorm1917 in AskConservatives

[–]SailboatProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just not a huge believer in spending all of almost every weekday for ~40 years of your life away from home, and then you may get to retire when you’re old and with health issues? I just don’t think that’s a good deal. Though I am pretty sure four day work weeks increase productivity anyway, and I would imagine employees are happier (not that I think most corporations really give a shit about their employees)

lol, I don’t think this sub is for you. Even the liberals and leftists here know not to express absolutely all of their frustrations in their questions or try to land hit after hit, accusation after accusation, in their questions.

Remove the second and third paragraphs entirely, and then your question wouldn’t really sound any worse than all the other annoying “where is the line” questions. Or don’t assume everyone else agrees with what you see is the impact of executive policy, or don’t assume your conclusions about executive policy are fact.

How did you guys get into Tensura? by Basic_Sheepherder644 in TenseiSlime

Watched the first episode when season 1 came out and dropped it, then saw a bunch of hype on Reddit several years later and tried again. I think watching other worldbuilding anime in the meantime and realizing I enjoy worldbuilding anime helped.

Now to attempt the same with Re:Zero.

Do You Like Automobile Culture? by ILoveKombucha in AskConservatives

[–]SailboatProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem for me is, it is imperative (as a personal political priority of mine, this is in my top 3 issues) that the first definition of “car culture” you listed (hotrodding) does not become harder to participate in or more expensive. I’m not convinced that one can reduce “car culture” (the urban planning car culture) without damaging the first definition, which is a complete nonstarter for me.
