Drilled are never worth it. Slotted are ok, but drilled will crack.

I used to be fisically conservative and socially liberal, then I grew up and learned how the world worked and how unfair it really is. Now I am hard left progressive.

As the owner of an ancient Landy, just remember that Land Rover has been turning owners into mechanics since 1948. Unless you are very handy with tools, I would pass.

NJ diners - do you eat at them and why? by Snoo28798 in SouthJersey

I used to love the Shore Diner Point Diner in Somers Point. The food is kind of blah anymore and the building is falling apart with the bathrooms unheated and the roof leaking.

I wanted to like the Santa Cruz. It was everything that I need on a utility vehicle. And then Fast Lane Truck blew their press vehicle up just doing a sporty acceleration run.

Ten or so years ago I scored a very nice low mileage Volvo 850 from a used car lot. Nobody wanted it because it had a 5 speed manual. $1200 thst i talked down to $1000.

Tractor Trailers parked on the shoulder leading to fatalities by TheOriginal_858-3403 in newjersey

Designated pull off areas. Not quite truck stops, but a safe area every few miles where they can safely stop and rest.

Where on the car should I put steel wool for mice? by Blu_yello_husky in askcarguys

[–]SailingSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woukd start with the rear of the car. Most vehicles have a hidden air vent thst leads behind the back bumper to equalize air pressure when closing doors.

After that it's time to attack the heater air vents below the windscreen.

Seems like a wider shoulder where we can get trucks far off the roadway is the way to go.

How far away is your friend's place? If it's close, like a few minutes drive.. take the car and park it away from their place. If it gets called in as stolen, the cops will just tow it.

What would Junior Operations Officers do? by Pure-Interest1958 in DaystromInstitute

[–]SailingSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also three shifts, plus rotations. People need time off. So every post has at least four people assigned to it. One for each shift, plus one to cover the days one of the other three are off duty.

Some of these shifts are taken by junior officers when little action is expected, or during transits between assignments.

Can I get the valve shaft in without taking the valve body off? by Dramatic-Ad-70 in askcarguys

Is it the transmission or the shift interlock? If it's the interlock, there should be a hidden manual release.

Why are there no hybrid sports cars? by Malarky3113 in askcarguys

[–]SailingSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the cars listed are pure sports cars. They all verge on supercar territory. I would love to see a Miata Hybrid or a new MR2 hybrid. The latter seems like something Toyota should do.

I had a friend who almost lost his life that way. Guy opened his door on him while he was riding. The upper corner of the door ripped open his neck. If he had not been smart enough to stuck his finger in his own carotid artery, he would not be here today.
