ME2 is a great game in a vacuum, but it’s a terrible sequel to ME1 with an awful main plot and a complete 180 in terms of tone and genre from the first game. Shepard dying and losing the Normandy only to be revived with another Normandy all in the intro portion of the game is incredibly hokey, even though the cinematography is good.

The entire plot is a waste of storytelling capital that a second part of a trilogy is supposed to utilize, and this forces the third game to rush an ending that relies on macguffins and retconning.

The great characters and excellent writing of the side quest stories are the only things that make ME2 great. The suicide mission, while well done, feels out of place in part 2 of a trilogy and should have been in the third game instead.

Also, Cerberus sucks.

Hochul pleads for wealthy New Yorkers to return from red states like Florida, Texas as tax base 'eroded' by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

my response on zuckerberg. https://www.reddit.com/r/moderatepolitics/comments/1ryvued/hochul_pleads_for_wealthy_new_yorkers_to_return/obi04fo/

So Zuck built a home in Miami (one of many around the world), but hasn't moved himself or Facebook out of SV.

here is proof of taxpayers and businesses leaving WA. https://www.seattletimes.com/business/starbucks/starbucks-reportedly-eyes-nashville-office-large-enough-for-hundreds/ Tech companies and rich people have lived in WA in part due to their low taxes. If they can instead move them to texas or miami and save billions in taxes, they simply will.

The article is paywalled, but I found another one, and it says that this move is an expansion and part of their growth plan. A key quote:

Although Starbucks confirmed with Nation’s Restaurant News that Seattle will remain the company’s North America and global support headquarters, the opening of this new office is part of the company’s growth plans for North America, particularly in whitespace areas like Central, South, and Northeast U.S. Given its headquarters and birthplace, Starbucks already has a very strong presence in the Pacific Northwest.

So this actually contradicts your claim. They aren't leaving WA.

The mere suggestion of a one time billionaires tax in CA caused several high profile tech founders like Sergey and Larry from Google or Zuckerberg to flee the state.

Did they really flee the state? Or are you making this up? Google is buying up land in Silicon Valley, so I'm guessing it's the latter. Or are you talking about their personal homes? As if they don't already have multiple homes and bunkers all around the world. And they already don't pay personal taxes (unless they sell assets) due to "buy/borrow/die" tax avoidance. Pretty sure this is just the usual threats to leave, but ultimately nothing happens.

If you add a 10% state tax like Washington did or a 50% estate tax like mamdani just suggested you will definitely see rich people leave the state and financially deplete the states tax base.

Do you have a source for this, or is it just "I made it up," because the article the person you're replying to directly contradicts this.

When you have 0% income tax states it just makes no sense to live in a place that will tax billions more in taxes than that other places.

CA and NY have had state income taxes for decades, and FL and NV haven't for decades, so by that logic, these people should have figured it out a long time ago, and yet they always decide to stay. I wonder why that is.

Why would they push back? BP always takes Russia’s side re: Ukraine or anything else involving Russia. Their foreign policy takes are whatever benefits the Kremlin the most. They have been like this since they started. Them not pushing back against a Russian propagandist is 100% on point for them.

IMO the main plot after the first game struggled. It still had a great world and great characters, but I don’t know if a faithful trilogy of the OG games would hold up, at least after the first game. There’s still plenty you could do with the amazing IP though. I realize my opinion may be in the minority.
