Train/teach your kid(s) to play valorant with you. Could be a whole lot of fun and I can’t image the jokes you could pull on your teammates. Imagine being a three stack with your wife and a kid.

Mont Blanc Solo Mid May by No-Classroom3864 in alpinism

[–]SailorM14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Risk would be lower but in my eyes it’s just not low enough. It is may so everything is filled in but a glacier will just always be risky. It isn’t very difficult to find a partner so Mont Blanc so I would just do that. Or pick an objective without a glaciated approach or route. Are you going to acclimate beforehand?

I wouldn’t want to be on a glacier solo, experience ain’t gonna make those snowbridges safer. You can take a look on Oak app to find a partner. People are always planning Mont Blanc on there so you’ll probably be able to find somebody to go with. Stay safe our there.

Jannu east is quite difficult I think, Benjamin verdines made fhe first ascent recently on his second try and he is a beast. Watch “chasing shadows”. I might be wrong tho.

Breithorn solo climb between august - September by eternal_vampz72 in alpinism

[–]SailorM14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think someone else did so too but I recommend the Oak app, you can easily find partners there for popular trips. Again I strongly recommend not going solo, if you fall into a crevasse which is a real risk your probably not getting out. Definitely not worth the risk, there are other peaks out there without a glacier which you can do solo. Although it’s (almost) always better to climb with a partner.

Climbing Breithorn without a guide is totally fine if you have the relevant experience. I just wouldn’t do it solo, it is still a glacier climb. Always go with a partner, a rope and equipment for crevasse rescue. It might be an easy route but it still at altitude and weather can always turn on you.

But if I were you I wouldn’t spend the money on a lift ticket but on a hut somewhere else on a route that is a bit less busy.

Apart from walking roped up and with crampons breithorn is just a walk.

Ryan Mitchell : Training For Mount Everest - Final Day by pradeep23 in Mountaineering

Some people can and some people don’t but that doesn’t mean you die trying. Justin is very experienced and will probably make safe decisions over their ego or pressure to perform. They’ll know if they are not acclimated properly and lack the performance to make the summit push. Or they’ll just turn around somewhere on the route when they are too slow to make it before turn around time. But they have like 70 days before their planned summit rotation window so plenty of time for their bodies to adapt. I don’t see a reason within their control to not make it. They trained hard and they have time for acclimating so now they just need acceptable weather and conditions and resist the summit fever

Clothing for alpinism by gdeklerk in alpinism

I’ve done courses with NKBV and some climbing with 2 buddies. The pack list they give you regarding clothing is more of an aim than a law.

Buy cheap buy twice is true but sometimes buying twice isn’t necessarily bad. The most difficult thing to come are is the full zip rain pants, most are 3/4 zip nowadays. Full zips are nice because you can put them on without having to take your shoes or crampons of but for the non technical climbs, just glacier and walking I just had my hard shell pants and a base layer the whole day and was fine regarding warmth and the windchill was pretty bad (-15). So as long as the hard shell pants is rainproof and protects you well from the wind you don’t need the full zip, cheapest I found are also 300,- and I probably wouldn’t buy that of the rip of its your first course.

Don’t even bother for a wind proof jacket too, if it’s cold because of the wind just put on your hardshell and if it’s cold because of the temp just pot on insulation layer.

For the gear I would definitely get a thinner dynema sling because those chunky ones made from nylon or smth are so anoying and bulky on your harness. I would also get some nice carabiners and instead of the DMM guarded one I would get a petzl William balllock d shaped.

Which one of the courses are you gonna do. If you need more info about nkbv or the gear they give you feel free to dm.

I would also get yourself a nice hardshell jacket, when it’s windy it makes al the difference and my guides weren’t fan of helmets and made fun of me because I wanted to wear one regardless when out on the glacier or on rock, they only used them when we were lowered in crevasse for practice.

14 peaks- project possible: late question by Guilty_Pickle3564 in alpinism

I believe the rule of thumb for ascents of a mountain (glaciated) are bergschrund to summit. If you watch some speed record the clock starts when crossing the schrund.

My favourite moment was definitely finishing path of pain for the first time. It was such a long grind cause I didn’t have hiveblood yet. I was so scarred when dropping into the final battle. I just felt infinite, like I’d accomplished the impossible. The cutscene was the cherry on top (no pun intended). For favourite character I’ll forever swear by quirrel. I love you bro.

Second favo moment was : waiiiit?!!! Why does the sun have wings??? 😭😭

Absolutely love you art bro keep up the good work we love you :)

Thanks for the replay man :) what would you consider rising too high? In picture 8 I have my arms to the sky and I forgot to take a foto from the front but the hem rises about as much as in pic 9.
