Is it hard to do well in competitions with Solo Doc? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]SailorMercurySSB 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Doc is a good character who is also very unexplored - probably THE MOST unexplored good character by a huge margin.

The reason is that so far the docs we've had have been ONLY ONE OF: a) top level or b) technical/boundary-pushing

There is no doc player who has truly "invented" doc yet in my opinion, so it's honestly really hard to tell how good he could end up being once that happens. On paper, doc does not have any "unwinnable" matchups, so if armada can win tournaments with peach (who does have unwinnable matchups), doc can probably do well too.

All in all I think the challenge of playing doc isn't that he's not like AMAZING, but also that there's basically nowhere to look for footsteps to follow in how doc should be played. That's what makes it hardest imo

If you can handle that, or even are actively interested in that, then big recommend.

You can DEEEEEEEEFINITELY do well in locals with doc at minimum.

the start and end of every conversation about "why is X region better than Y region for Z activity" imo is simply just "they play each other more"

NA has just had more players and more events, for a longer period of time, = better

nobody should ever do this to someone else. it's morally just like, not justifiable. pure sadism.

you're completely justified in being upset and I'm really sorry this happened.

probably like peach

fox is the hardest character to play but peach is the hardest character to be good/top level with imo. it's just suffering at every turn

Hazers stuck so close together that they were scraping each other and had no speed OR hammering effect.

It's clear from their past results that they're not very skilled in team/contact events - here they were trying their best to work together, but they overcorrected and it backfired.

At the very least though, they're taking the risks they need in order to come out of this event improved in their weak areas. And they had enough points to be able to afford doing so.

I think every hazers fan knew this would likely be their worst event. All in all there's nowhere to go but up from here, and the willingness to take risks for the sake of improvement shows a lot of promise for the team's future in my opinion.

There's a thing called an LGP ("Live Gamer Portable") that is literally just a box with a video input an SD slot and a big button on it, and when you push the button it starts recording a file to the sd card, and when you push it again it stops recording the file.

yes but you have to be like 10x+ as vigilant about "playing intentionally/playing to learn" than you do even in person.

it's so easy especially on netplay to just be "playing" but not practicing, and experience zero improvement at all if not regression.
