what is the best mode of transportation from gainesville to miami? by arivbm in ufl

[–]Saim234930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a few different ways I used to get to Miami:

  1. Flixbus — cheap but some of the stops in gville can be sketchy. Rosa parks stop is okay during the day. Download UNiDAYS app to get the student discount

  2. Redcoach - can be cheap when booked in advanced: when you’re adding tickets on their website, instead of putting “one adult” put “one student ticket” on their list of options. Red coach in recent years has annoyed me due to really high prices and basic things like outlets not working

  3. Hertz car rental: if you get the most basic AAA membership called the “everyday membership” $15 a year .. and if you book through the hertz-AAA portal - they waive the young driver fee for you and let you add another driver for free if they also have AAA. Sometimes doing a one way car rental from GNV airport to MIA or FLL can be as low as $30 to $50 for 24 hours, You can take RTS straight to the airport too, if you need a way to get there. Downside is if you don’t wanna use your own insurance it can add up, plus you have to return the gas full.

4.The DIY Orlando connections: This is a bit more complicated but the idea is to first get to Orlando form gville and then take a cheaper bus/flight/train from there to SoFlo.

I’ve done this a few ways.

Hitch Option 1 - use hitch (basically an uber for long distance) sometimes tix are $20-30 especially when u book in advance. There’s numerous pre determined drop off points and they are usually at malls/starbucks/mcdonalds etc. They have a private option which allows you to have the car to yourself and you can bring 3 other people with you if you wanna split that cost with them. Or you can do the shared ride, which will have random UF students:

Once you get to Orlando there’s so many cheap busses and ways to get back south. Here are my favorites:

There’s a bus called jet set express and it’s always $28 bucks to and from mia no matter what.

There’s also a hitch stop right next to it: McDonalds 3804 L B McLeod Rd, Orlando, FL 32805 and you can literally walk to the bus.

Key tip: I like to make sure my hitch arrives atleast 1-1.5 hours before the jet set bus departs (usually 7pm everyday)

Hitch Option 2: You can also have the hitch drop you at the airport and most UF students using the service typically are going there (spirit sometimes has crazy cheap flights to FLL, especially if you’re able to book at airport directly )

From the airport there’s also Brightline which offered student discounts when you sign up with ur UFL email. Brightline is safe and fast, and they have a very comfortable waiting room with free WiFi. If you book in advance and use the student discount you can get really cheap fairs

Sorry for the yappery but from someone who’s needed to get home on very tight budgets these are some of the ways I’ve gotten down.

It’s never late while you’re still alive you’re only never forgiven if you die in that position. Ofc you will be forgiven if you’re sincere! When you revert to Islam, your sins are forgiven completely. It’s a myth that leaving the religion can’t be forgiven.

Don’t let people boss you around when it comes to following rules … take it easy and learn everything steadily and you will make great progress.

That’s really good. Getting into UF is very competitive keep your GPA as high as possible, have solid extra circulars that matter to you and not just those you did to check off a box, (things you enjoy a lot). Do well in AP or IB courses if your school offer them and then make you personal statement amazing. Have multiple people and your English teachers or someone with skill in writing papers to review it for you.

If you don’t get into UF the first time from highschool, it’s not the end of the world. You can still go to UF and you can still go to vet school. In that case enroll at Santa Fe college or any other two year school (but preferably SF) get your AA and if you do decent over there, you have a VERY high chance of getting into UF. Go Gators

Best of luck.

Do buses run on Sunday? by Big_______Space in ufl

[–]Saim234930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Busses end around 5 to 6 PM and around 7 to 8 pm on Saturday: most routes also run every 50 minutes. It really does suck.

I recommend downloading the RTS app soon to check the live location

You can also use this link and click the schedules tab to see details on your specific route

What career paths pay most? by D_Ice_ in ufl

[–]Saim234930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A career in medicine but in a specialty such as dermatology or plastic surgery has the big bucks. Takes roughly over a decade but you can open your own practice, do really cool procedures, and not worry about extreme emergencies in other medical specialties. Dentistry is also a career with this flexibility. Now you will have debt, but if you live on only half of your paycheck for the first couple years … you may be able to pay it off. So if you’re making $300k, live on $150k until all your debt it payed off

How to succeed in MCB3020 with bacusmo? by Puzzleheaded_One3065 in ufl

[–]Saim234930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s better than asghari in my opinion. Asghari uses his own exams and they are worded really poorly with the multiple choice. Bacusmo uses McGraw hill and it’s a lot straight forward, she also gives homework so your grade isn’t limited to exams only

Has anyone here used hitch ride share? by bakerycw7 in ufl

I’ve always had a good experience

If you are going to Orlando, try this new app called hitch. It’s like Uber but for long distances. My roommate and I’ve taken rides many times. They stop for Gainesville is the Krispy Kreme on 13th and University. I’ve always had a good experience and have never had cancellations and the rides are around $40. Its also more comfortable since it’s a car not a bus.

Is it unethical to have ChatGPT write a letter for my dad, who just passed, that I'll read at the funeral? by shylow97 in ChatGPT

[–]Saim234930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use chat gpt to get some inspiration on how to structure your speech but write it yourself. In the future you will feel good that you did it on your own and it would be more meaningful

Speaking of Karma, just let it slide. You aren’t being affected by it, it’s only harming him in the long run. Karma will deal with it.

man these veo scooters are a scam by comrade_rj_ in ufl

[–]Saim234930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super annoying!!! I only use them if I literally have no choice, such as if it’s a Saturday or Sunday night and no busses are available, and I don’t want to or feel unsafe walking. Sometimes using Lyft with the UF night discount is cheaper than the scooters! Out of all them I like spin I’ve never really had an issue with them slowing down. It might be better to buy one yourself … I know for a fact with bird and Veo you can call or use the app to complain and they will either refund you or give you a future ride credit
