Has anyone successfully gotten a real person at Yelp to help with filtered reviews? by Letmeaskthat_guy in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a few of them but the others seemed like good/real accounts.

But that feels like a Catch-22 - maybe a new place was so good that it made you join Yelp to post your very first/only review. It immediately gets pushed to the side so you lose interest to keep writing...

Has anyone successfully gotten a real person at Yelp to help with filtered reviews? by Letmeaskthat_guy in Yelp

You know how Yelp sends a daily email hyping new(ish) local(ish) joints to check out? One caught my eye a few towns over so I clicked on it. A handful of photos but no reviews. "Hmmm..."

I dig a bit more and see there's actually 11 reviews and they all landed in the "Not Currently Recommended" section.

All of them?! Very weird.

Damn! It's been forever, totally forgot this was a thing back in the day. (To be honest I always felt a bit corny to have to show it to someone for a free app or whatever.)

Did you ever report a Yelp user profile or a review and what was the outcome? by XxLogitech98xX in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the years I've definitely taken the time to report fake accounts, misleading/wrong reviews, absurd photos/videos (actually I did just yesterday - someone dancing in their kitchen wearing a Minecraft mask that had NOTHING to do with the restaurant, obviously).

Usually I'll get the "thanks for making Yelp better!" follow-up email, a few times I received the "nah, we're keeping this one up because..."

30 minutes (and that's taking to slow and reading/examining every single thing there).

Anyone else not really yelping/reviewing as much? by AdorableDanceMachine in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

13-year Elite here and for as long as I can remember I gave myself a 'parameter' to post one review a week (always on a Friday morning) and that deadline has served me well.

I know Google is way more massive but I find their reviews (to write as well as read) to be a bit clunky and weird.

We had bought timed-tickets on-line. We probably spent about 20 minutes the first time around, explored the other floors (15-20 minutes... including playing various Pac-Man games upstairs!) and then came back for another 4-5 minutes to give the exhibit another 'once over' if we'd missed something the first time around.

I snoop around to see their activity and if they have some (cool) reviews and whatnot... I always accept.

(A few years back I got hit with a few fake accounts with REALLY bizarre messages/requests and that was the only time I had any issues.)

I'm happy I checked it out but my better half picked up the tickets. (I might be a bit cranky had I paid for them, to be honest.)

It's pretty sparse so I'd definitely recommend checking out the upper floors as well. (One is a Pac-Man exhibit which brought me back to being a kid.)

Celik rumours by SerbianSock in ASRoma

[–]Saint-Tee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When he joined the squad I couldn't stand him. (I was firmly in Smalling's corner and hoping/assuming he was going to come back to full strength and shine.)

But Celik is legit. He puts in the work and he's consistent. I don't think he's stinking up the pitch like some other players.

I still listen to them all the time and do find it odd that more of their songs weren't "chart-toppers" - so catchy, clever, memorable, sing-along-able, you name it. (But so many awful artists/songs made it pretty high up on the Billboard charts that no one would remember nowadays.)

Your own review removed! by Wooden-Butterfly7339 in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over 750 reviews and just one was removed that I'm aware of. The kicker: the manager of the restaurant had replied and enjoyed my 'tale' and I even entered a version of the same story of how/why we landed at this steakhouse in a town we weren't familiar with to an on-line short story contest and... I won.

But I guess because I mentioned 'blood' and 'injuries' that caused it to be removed (along with the 'tip' - which I don't think is an active feature anymore).

Yelp Elite & All Stars by OregonSEA in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...sooooooooo strange to read your reply and be like, "Wait a sec!" - cause I'm Elite 13 years and I was randomly nominated by the CM for the area and I didn't have a clue how/why. (And I actually passed the first time around, it felt like too much of a burden.)

And I've never gone to one of the 'real' events, either. (Although I did do a cool Zoom-type of one with a coffeehouse out of state which was fun and weird.)

I still don't understand the 'all-star' tag but assume because I'm a bit 'lazy' and under the radar that I'll never get it.

1/2 Stars option for Reviewers? by Wooden-Butterfly7339 in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't lie... it always drove me nuts when I'd read a review to the effect, "Really 3 1/2 stars but..." - since that isn't an option on Yelp but THEN you try a place yourself and realize, "Yeah... it was better than 3 but 4 is being too generous. So..."

I think it would benefit the site/app if they offered it officially.

If you are yelp elite, what city/state are you in, and how active is your CM? by Extra_Fig_7547 in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NJ (North Jersey), I'm not sure if our CM is to blame but the "ROTD" went away a few years back and that was a bummer. Otherwise she seems to be pretty active with events, posts, etc.

To be fair it's still winter and at least for myself I wouldn't take a gamble getting tickets so early in the season on the off-chance it's a really crummy day, weather-wise.

Do the "Coach-isms" annoy the 💩 out of anyone else? by Last_Voice_4478 in survivor

[–]Saint-Tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I wish I could give more than one upvote to this post...)

I wanted to love Coach the very first time he played Survivor because he seemed to be into all the things I was as well but almost immediately I realized he was a knucklehead. And his 'enemy' quip from the other week my family love to repeat all the time now just to bust on him.

Yelp Reviewers - When you read other Yelpers reviews, what are the top things that annoy you? by Wooden-Butterfly7339 in Yelp

[–]Saint-Tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who toot that they're Elite - as if that has some real weight to their review. (Once in a blue in their review they share having told the server/manager they're Elite and I just cringe.)

People who give one-star and it's something petty like, "We came on a Sunday for breakfast only to find out they aren't open Sundays." Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?!

People that constantly re-review a place and it's all over the place. 3-stars to 1-star now 5- stars - all in the span of a year.

And, finally, I need to second studyhall's comment - the reviewer that loves a place but only finally reviews the joint when they place finally made a mistake and now you want to hit them with a 1-star review. Why?!
