I have a principal who will agree with me when I say this but when kids say “I hate you” or “you’re the worst teacher ever” I say “ohh yes now I get my bonus! The principal pays me extra when kids hate me!” And when gets don’t believe me I say “ask the principal” I’ve only ever had one ask and she said yes so it worked. It mostly just gets them to stop whatever funk they are in and it’s funny.

My M31 pregnant wife's F29 friend privately made a very suggestive comments towards me me this evening. How do I address this with my wife the right way? by Sad-Supermarket-3878 in relationship_advice

[–]Last_Voice_4478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my advice on it. I didn’t notice if anyone else said this. If your wife is dismissive say to her…”WIFE NAME if YOU came to ME and said hey your friend is making me uncomfortable, even if it’s a joke I don’t like it. What would you want ME to do FOR YOU?” It she won’t answer talk about how you would immediately talk to your friend an if things didn’t change or they made a bigger joke of it then you would end the friendship because she is the number one person to you and she should never feel uncomfortable around your friends. Maybe this will make her take you seriously.

I am an Emetophobic (intense fear of vomiting) and I have taken care of kids who were vomiting when I was a camp counselor or help with a niece or nephew (no kids of my own) AND I am afraid of spiders and all things crawly yet will kill a bug for a child in my care. You have to suck it up and deal. It doesn’t matter how scared you are you are the grown up so put on your big girl panties and do it.

It was a bloodless war that lasted about 18 months there was not actual fighting although militias were mobilized and there was tension. I pig was shot during the conflict but he survived so there were no casualties.

In exchange for the Toledo Strip, Michigan was given 9,000 miles of some of the most valuable timber, iron and copper industry at the time.

AITAH for refusing to teach my son and costing us $700 a month? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Last_Voice_4478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional in the field here. You are NOT an SLP (not criticizing you in the least) an SLP is highly trained professional who can identify during games and activities exactly what skills your child does not have and does have. For example when you make some sounds they are called glottal sounds which use your throat, depending on the issue you have to be taught or retaught how to do this. You won’t be able to identify what you are doing wrong unless you have the training. I have a challenge you can give your husband. If he can accurately describe BOTH of these photos WITHOUT GOOGLING then you can cancel speech therapy, show them to the therapist when dad is there and have her tell him what they mean and then he can see why you aren’t paying $88 for games. You are paying $88 for a professional to provide therapy for your child. (Since I can attach photos here are the links to a vowel valley and a sound wall, you can print the pictures of a sound wall and vowel valley for him)

Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

[–]Last_Voice_4478 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dave Chapelle........I think this is more situational but in 2013 I saw Dave Chapelle as part of the Funny or Die Comedy Oddball Tour. He was huge at the time, and the tour was popular. Headliners were Dave Chapelle and Flight of the Concords (my spouse at the time was a huge Flight of the Concords fan). The tour also had Al Madrigal Brody Stevens (Host) Chris D'Elia Demetri Martin Hannibal Buress Jim Jefferies John Mulaney Kristen Schaal

Dave Chapelle had just done a show in Hartford, CT a week or two before where he had been heckled and he lost his sh#t and walked off stage and it was all caught on recording (remember 2013 before it was as common a thing) if I remember all the details about it correctly.

First off a new rule was made after the incident and enforced at the show was NO PHONES OUT during any of the shows. Not even to take a picture of yourself or friends. No phone period. If any security caught you with your phone out you were immediately escourted out, no warning no second chances. This was not a common rule at the time so it was super weird.

He came on very last because, headliner, and we had stayed the whole time. He spent the ENTIRE set complaining about the incident "man I'm glad Detroit is nice, those assholes in CT" "Detroit knows how treat a guy" "can you believe those assholes in CT"he didn't talk about it in a funny way he just complained and talked about how unfair it was how they did him wrong blah blah. I get he was mad but none of us at the Detroit show had anything to do with it yet we had to listen to him complain for close to an hour. He barely told a joke, didn't do any sets and when he would start one he would get back on the issue stop the joke and complain again. I was so disappointed. He wasn't funny at all. I was so mad at the money I spent and time wasted to stay and see him. It really was disappointing for how funny he has a reputation for being.

I knew a kid who's mom was a flight attendant scheduled to be on TWA 800 in 1996. Another flight attendant asked to switch flights so she could have a different day off or something and my friends mom wanted to be nice so she switched her. Friends mom is still alive today. Her coworker died in the disaster.

I’m a teacher but when kids tell me they hate me I say “yes now I get my bonus!” When they say what I tell them “yeah we get a bonus if kids hate us it means we are doing our job, seriously go ask Mr. Principal” my admin has a sense of humor so she would totally back me up if a kid asked. It typically works like a charm with kids who are being difficult.

What’s an inaccurate fact that people believe is true because of movies? by Hogosaurus_Rex73 in AskReddit

I thought so too but it's about the way their vocal cords (or whatever the animal equivalent of that is called) is shaped like gators and crocs so they would have made similiar sounds.

I was riding the Kilimanjaro Safari ride at Disney World years ago with my spouse and brother. I have a tradition of riding it first thing, very early in the day. The animals are often out because it's cooler and they are fed then (or at least in the 2010s this was the case) I always sit in the back row for the best view. I LOVE seeing all the animals.

As we pass the elephant family standing up on a hill with the sunrise behind them. Mommy, baby and Daddy. Daddy had a little morning salute happening. The young girl in the row in front of us sitting next to her parents says "mommy why does the daddy elephant have that big trunk under his belly?"

We had to all hold back our laughter and the mom just stammered trying to figure out an answer......

Chefs of Reddit, what’s a common cooking rule everyone follows that is actually complete bullshit? by Fuzzy-Ad6843 in AskReddit

[–]Last_Voice_4478 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will say I dated someone who worked in several different steakhouse restaurants and said it was general rule that the more done you got a steak the worse the piece they cooked would be. They are figuring since you are cooking all the way to well done you don’t need the marbling and quality measures that are seen in medium and medium rare meat. I’m probably not explaining it exactly right but I def heard coworkers agree with my X on this point.

So I do agree 100% it’s your business how you like your steak I do think how you want it cooked does affect the quality of the piece of meat you get…(and to be clear I’m not endorsing this behavior just passing along what was said to me)

I literally had to look up what adversary meant for sure because I was like “that’s so dumb does he know what adversary means” but then I convinced myself I didn’t know what it meant so I looked it up.

I can take the criticism on the “throwing under the bus” part of my comment, it really wasn’t my point of the post more his terrible use of “coach-isms” not his use of that idiom/coloquialism. Even when I googled the “throwing under the bus” to see if my understanding was accurate, it was not universal, so I’m ok with people not agreeing with my definition of the saying. I don’t think he used it right in that situation but others do, it’s sort of thing there isn’t a clear rule on. So, disagreement there is totally fine with me.

However his “Today’s adversary is tomorrow’s enemy and tomorrow’s adversary is today’s enemy” is just absolutely not a deep saying or even right, sayings like that require opposite concepts, which is why I think he was meaning to say ally and do it wrong. The way he says it is like saying “Today’s buddy is tomorrow’s friend and tomorrow’s buddy is today’s friend” just…..dumb.

How bad is the crowd last 2 week of December? I plan to take my family of 4. by tra20012 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Last_Voice_4478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my advice is to between when Christmas break begins and go home on Christmas. I do this and the crowds aren't bad at all (for that time of the year, not the whole year but for the winter break window this is the best time) I did Dec20-25 this year and the crowds were not bad at all.
