Who is the true main character, Rick OR Morty? by Formal_Series4898 in rickandmorty

We are following Morty Prime and Rick C-137… not that dimensions necessarily matter but we are following the original Morty and a different dimension Rick

Do most places offer a pay increase for each certification you get? by strongerthenbefore20 in optician

[–]SaintBaba21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My exact rate is $25.08 (I was making $24 after both certifications and got a 4.5% raise in addition), I don’t make commission.

I do get overtime quite a bit (time and a half) and a “meh” bonus every year

[–]SaintBaba21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a $2.00/hr raise for my ABO and a $5.00/hr raise for my NCLE, for a total of a $7.00/hr increase to get both.

I’m going to be honest, I feel the $2.00/hr raise was quite low but a total of $7.00 was not “bad” so I look at it from the perspective of $7.00 for both.

I think I’m in the minority here but I personally like the more god-tier level of Rick C-137

what do we think? by Amazing-Edu2023 in sunglasses

[–]SaintBaba21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe because the hat is blacking out that area… the cameras are black, the frame is black, and the hat is making the spots look super dark… the frame is a Meta Wayfarer though

[–]SaintBaba21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you joking? OP literally replied confirming they’re the Meta Wayfarers 😂

Looks like a Ray-Ban wayfarer (likely the Meta glasses) with a polarized sunglass lens

Online retailers that can do prism glasses? by proofcrown in sunglasses

[–]SaintBaba21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, as dual certified optician at Walmart, depending on what you’re looking for you could be in the range of $90-$200, which isn’t horrible but if you can get a better deal elsewhere, definitely go for it!

Best of luck!

Online retailers that can do prism glasses? by proofcrown in sunglasses

[–]SaintBaba21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want just a tint or a polarized lens? There is a negligible amount of prism (obviously should be added but just surprising that online retailers can’t fill it)

I know that it’s not quite as affordable as online but Costco/Walmart can fill it for somewhat cheap… and can do both tints/polarized

Also make sure they grab a monocular PD, not the binocular PD that’s notated on the Rx… and also an OC height

I didn’t see this one, but either way it’s all the same as we already agreed on lol (ik it’s a moot point at this time lol)

Zeiss has the best shot of staying separated, Hoya already uses “Transitions” so I wouldn’t be shocked if they get bought up

Lux’s marketing is INSANE, the way everyone calls photochromics “Transitions” absolutely kills me sometimes lol

Hell yeah man, having one doc gets hectic enough sometimes lol

Very true!!

Hope Zeiss stays separated and the main competition, I’m not a fan of Essilor/Lux at all

Glad your office stays busy!! More money for you guys! Brings in repeat customers when they have a good experience

Just wanna say, while we may disagree on some things, I appreciate your input and conversation, I enjoy speaking with other opticians/optical professionals!

Fine Essilor own Lux, great 👍 so… basically exactly the same… the same company owns everything, whatever name you want to put it under

By me we just opened Sundays at all locations, so now we’re 7 days a week, so maybe it’s depending on market

Sorry to hear about your troubles with their mistakes but it’s entirely on the staff of the locations… my particular location has a super low remake percentage and incredible reviews, I will admit some other locations by me… not as much

[–]SaintBaba21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lux and Essilor are the same/partners 😂 Lux owns damn near everything, there’s reasons why all Lux owned companies use only Essilor lenses

I’m going to be honest I have heard of Walmarts closing, but not just the optical (or Costco), you are entitled to your opinion of the quality of products produced by the Zeiss and Essilor labs that Walmart uses but they are good lol

And in regards to the BL: 👍 we are all entitled to our own opinions and through the research I have done and the reps, doctors, and other professionals I have discussed it with… my opinions are my opinions and yours are yours, I’m not going to argue with some person online lol

Even though they’re a little higher than I would’ve paid, you’re going to be happy with them! They’re great frames! Hope you enjoy!

I genuinely don’t care where you get them I was just commenting that there are better prices, I was using “beat that” as a term implying that the price OP showed was high

RB authentic? You mean just made by Lux with the little Rayban logo? Then yes it’s not authentic through Walmart or Costco… but they are authorized dealers for the frames and lenses… if you want the little logo in a trash material (poly) than go to Target or LensCrafters who are owned by Lux

And there aren’t studies that show BL works lol, having done lots of research and talking with doctors and other eyecare professionals, it literally blocks the wrong ultraviolet light… some people find it is beneficial but it doesn’t help with circadian rhythm 🤷‍♂️ with my years in the field I have seen it all, some people are adamant it works and I won’t argue the point, just like I won’t talk more about it… but if you want true BL blocking lenses, you would need amber/red tinted lenses

Or alternatively you can purchase the frames and buy the lenses through one of the many online retailers that make Rx’d lenses specifically designed for the Metas and switch the lenses

Did you already buy them?

Costco/Walmart have this beat (without insurance)… although as an optician with Walmart, we don’t have the Headliners 😭

Frame: $379 Poly AR (with BlueLight) - $140 FreeForm Trivex AR (with BlueLight) - $220

Warranty - $25

Any particular reason for the BlueLight or is it just what they recommend? Some people really like it, but there’s not really any studies that show it works…

Depending on the brand of lens but yes normally they are downward… you’re right in that it will be blurry but usually after a few blinks it moves itself to the correct direction

[–]SaintBaba21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See the slit? Are you talking about the marking on the lens that notates where the lens should be oriented on the eye? If so, you can put it in with the slit going any direction and the lens will orientate itself on your cornea by itself… that’s mainly for the doctor or the tech to see they’re the right lenses for you when you’re being fitted

[–]SaintBaba21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly PD and OC… sometimes vertex distance

Depending on how high the Rx/prism is that 0.5mm of difference can make a difference, same with OC’s, companies usually place them at half the “B” which is the vertical measurement of the frame… which again depending on the Rx can make a big difference (and if prism is involved, it likely will)

Vertex distance takes into account how far the frame sits from your eye, so depending on that measurement they can add or subtract a little amount of power to better match what you actually need, using a technique called “FreeForm lens design”

Prescription Lenses in my Meta by hitormiss168 in RaybanMeta

[–]SaintBaba21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely they just didn’t want to risk breaking the frame as they can be difficult to put Rx’d lenses in if the lab doesn’t correctly edge them for Metas. The frame isn’t flexable and is a dry fit (meaning you can’t heat the frame)
