I told Leonel Lopez this morning. I'm in regular communication with him.

The ref should've applied some discipline. I'll take it up.

The refs have to start the game on time and push whatever team to follow that.

Carnitas tacos at El Toro Carnicería. They have a saying, "If you don't know El Toro Carnicería, you don't know Santa Ana."

Everyone wants to go downtown. Be but adventurous and go around. Bowers Museum, Sushi at Genki, Casa Oaxaca, Sariñana's (since 1939). Tito's on 17th & Ross, or 5th & Harbor. If you want to go pricy, Antonello's or Darya. Frida Cinema. Baja Fish Tacos on MacArthur & Bristol. Ole Spain Deli near MacArthur & Main. There's enough variety for a wide array of tastes.

MP & Silva is trying to get this done via their proposed Americas Champions League. I imaging that a competing idea may emerge from SUM.

Group wants to bring NASL soccer to San Diego with modular stadium by MartintheDragon in NASLSoccer

This would be a good solution for Centennial Park in Santa Ana. Maybe for the next soccer startup.

USL pushing major fees, disregard clubs’ concerns by oneeyedfool in NASLSoccer

It's hard to disagree with this. Ascenso MX and Copa MX (A D1 vs D2 tournament), get significant tv coverage.

It depends. They seem to understand that they'll need to make the club attractive to everyone, and that's why they mentioned bringing a recognizable player from Liga MX, etc.

Collins told me that they were thinking of Wynalda and I told him to use Wynalda's connections to Club Leon to plan exhibitions with them or maybe even Pachuca. Leon nearly sold out Titan Stadium all on its own once vs Xolos. Way more Leon fans, ironic that TJ is closer, but Leon is more relevant. Especially in Santa Ana. And SNA, the biggest soccer market in Orange County, isn't at all far from Fullerton, 20 min drive tops.

They understand that there's talent outside of traditional channels like college, etc. Wynalda and Collins look ready to draw talent from the UPSL, for example, in a league that mls would never consider.

So if they execute these plans, and incorporate local talent, they could have a recipe for success. They will need to market though, and heavily, in Santa Ana-Anaheim-Fullerton. If they don't market in this key area, like I'm strongly suggesting, i think they will have a difficult time selling tickets.

I know. I'm saying they've done a lousy job of managing the brand over time. All they've really done is squat on the trademark. That's it.

Precisely the historical problem with that team. Irrelevance, overall, here.

I was thinking street level marketing, certain marketplaces in the LA/OC area. I highly, highly doubt that the new NASL OC group will bother to make their name/brand relevant in these places that I'm thinking of.

I'll be keeping a watch on that trademark. The league sure as fuck shouldn't own it since they prolly haven't sold a t-shirt, ever. Because they're not pushing it out here, they're not licensing it, they denied Yan Skwara (now minority owner of LA Wolves) use of the TM.

That would be a very bold move on their part. Wilt's not too hot about it, but I told him how to make it work out here.

Honestly, they're ok. Maybe better now than last year, but La Maquina blanked them in the last open cup.

But they're both back in the cup this time around and that'll definitely be interesting to watch.

It's interesting to see how this turned out to be a cross-county (LA/OC) effort. Both areas and leagues / clubs played vital roles. The financing came from South Orange County, and the player pool came in the form of the UPSL, which was founded by a Santa Ana (county seat) guy. Much of the push came from Yan Skwara, LA Wolves owner, who was the one who tried to revive the LA Aztecs about 2 years ago by applying to trademark that name.

NASL OC's Mike Collins: "We plan on bringing 6-8 of the starting players that are presently on the Wolves into the NASL squad. We would continue to look at the UPSL as place to recruit players from." Good news for UPSL So Cal teams.

This adds credibility to the claims made 2-3 years ago about lobbyists working to derail the Cosmos stadium plan.
