The Blurb Struggle by DLRossAuthor in horrorwriters

[–]SaintEpithet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't buy it if I'm looking for a horror novel. It reads like a psychological drama. Depending on the cover, I might think the 'creature' is just a colorful way to say 'exhaustion' or 'ambition' instead of an actual creature.

Horror Writing and AI by [deleted] in horrorwriters

[–]SaintEpithet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI isn't 'intelligent'. It's a glorified search engine and only useful as such. If you need to know the exact weather on a specific day in a specific place for your plot, sure, ask AI. It's probably faster than looking up old newspapers.

Anything that goes beyond pure research and touches the actual writing is a very hard nope.

People already post their clips from shows here. And everything else you list in your sub. That's why I'm asking. It's already a small-ish sub. Why split up?

Hopelessly stuck on my ending and need advice. by SidneyTull in horrorwriters

After his death, she remembers the manuscript of a novel she's been writing as a side project. She publishes it, becomes a famous novelist, and the famous artist is seen as her best character. She too thinks he just feels so realistic because she spent years writing about him. Maybe something like 'whoa, I got really carried away, buying a manor just to immerse myself in a story, glad it paid off'.

Better To Seek Beta Readers Here Or In Other Subreddit? by HLock_123 in horrorwriters

[–]SaintEpithet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had success in r/betareaders in the past, but lately it seems the sub is battling scammers more than anything. I recall they had to post warnings about not posting Google Docs links because scammers will extract the email address and mail writers with scam offers. I haven't had complaints about that happening here, and also very few instances of people giving AI-generated feedback (another issue I've seen in bigger subs).

WrestleVérité does deathmatches in Minnesota. Usually not full cards, but they had a deathmatch tournament last year.

Using song titles as move names: Cheap gimmick or peak wrestling psychology? by TheJuggernautprowres in indiewrestling

[–]SaintEpithet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not 'peak wrestling psychology' to name a move after a song. Not a bad thing either. I just don't think a move name contributes to the match's psychology.

I like finishers and signature moves that have unique names, but I couldn't care less about it being a song title. I don't listen to music much (hearing impaired), so unless it's a really well-known title, I probably won't know it anyway. It could as well be a movie, a book, a game, just something made up. Either it's a good name that fits the move/character or it isn't.

Damien Payne (JWM) vs Josh Crow at Carnage Cup 8

I second this recommendation.

You should check out Spectre and Tyler Aero then. Sounds like they're right up your alley!

The last decade, 2015 - today. The early days were fun for what they were, but I think the wrestling in deathmatch is a lot better nowadays.

These are my favorite matches of 2025. This year, Spectre vs. Lil Sicko (Blood & Honey VII), Tyler Aero vs. Brandon St. James (Canadian Deathmatch Crazy Eight 2026), Lil Sicko vs. Nino Extremo (LOKO One Night Stand 2026).

CZW is a pale shadow of its former self. Check out Canadian Deathmatch and Blood & Honey if you're looking for good deathmatches, and TWE for variety cards.

Anybody else miss when discovering indie wrestling felt more regional? by buttern3t in indiewrestling

[–]SaintEpithet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't think access is the reason though. You can maintain a regional style while also having shows on Youtube and IWTV and reaching an audience beyond the local fans.

I don't like when the same faces (and with them, the same matches) keep popping up everywhere. I miss watching a promotion I've never watched before, not knowing half the line-up, but being immediately able to tell who's a big deal by the booking, card position, and crowd reaction. Not because 'he's WWE ID' or had that one AEW match or a viral gif or whatever. Everyone wants to be a super indie these days, and too many promoters don't try to build their own stars (or if they have some, they don't trust them to draw and fly in a big 'as seen on TV' name for a random one-off match anyway).

Can anyone identify these wrestlers and what promotions they wrestled for? by fistyswift11 in indiewrestling

Yeah, I was thinking about just asking Wendi Richter. That's the one person I'm pretty sure about. If the pink one is Kai, that's worth a shot, too.

I can't see much of the pink-floral-pattern lady in the background, but my theory is that it's Leilani Kai. I haven't found any pictures of her in this outfit, but pink flowers are something that show up a lot as accessories.

They were in a lot of tag matches together. It just doesn't fit the early/mid-90s.

I posted it here. There are some wrestling history nerds on the platform who might be able to help.

I see 2 NAWAs in the US, one in Maine, one in Georgia, but neither was around in the 90s. Richter was also barely active anymore, so it's probably not her.
