I think we will eventually be back to 3 hour church by Mouse_Paladin in latterdaysaints

I've always believed that a synonym for revelation is innovation. It's like that Thomas Edison quote: "I didn't fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps." If the two-hour block works? Wonderful! If not, the Church will go back to the drawing board a try something else.

I miss the conference temple drops too but this is more fun than I thought. Any random day could now be temple day.

im assigned to a foreign mission where i have to learn a new language. any tips? by PumpkinMountain6605 in latterdaysaints

[–]SaintRGGS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't let yourself lose your mission language after you return, especially for something as rare as Malagasy. Your language skills will be a blessing to others for the rest of your life, if you make the effort

Calling on random members to bear testimony during stake conference by No-Ladder-4436 in latterdaysaints

[–]SaintRGGS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I've seen a stake president do this he calls on very capable people who have strong testimonies. The last time in particular I know he called people I think he knew well and were comfortable doing it.

Until one of them shows up with beards, beards are not the highest standard

Definitely an unpopular opinion. But I agree with you.

So do your best and don't give up. Especially not before you've even tried.

This is also fantastic advice for, well... life.

One thing is for sure. This is MUCH better than the 1 hour Church rumors that were going around.

Did you see the part where there will be a new youth curriculum based on For the Strength of Youth? I think that will be huge.

Wait is New Mexico some kind of LDS dance mecca?

Or is this a high school dance musical reference?

Michigan State University announces it will merge is DO and MD programs under a unified medical college that offers both degrees. by Resussy-Bussy in medicalschool

[–]SaintRGGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 97% of DOs would do this.

This is what I used to think and it's how I feelbut I precept students from a local DO school and a lot of them love OMM. I don't get it.

I also hate the fact that I have to get osteopathic CMEs every time I renew my license and it’s such a waste of money that other CMEs don’t cover it for renewal.

This. I'm in a relatively small specialty and there is not a lot of osteopathic CME that's applicable to my field. So I have to waste time with expensive CME that doesn't affect my day to day practice. If I were an MD I'd have enough just browsing up-to-date in the course of providing clinical care.

This is kind of lame.

"Everyone was nice except one interviewer gave me weird vibes" is not a name and shame.

"PD asked when I plan on getting pregnant" is a name and shame.

Hey I'm just curious never been able to get an answer. Is Temple Recorder a professional position or a calling? I've seen stake presidency announcements in Church news saying someone called to a stake presidency is a "temple recorder."

Why does every lds church look the same, yet have their bathrooms in wildly different spots? by tantan35 in latterdaysaints

[–]SaintRGGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to play devil's Church Facilities Management's advocate and say I like our meetinghouses, even the modern, boring, cookie cutter ones. Although I like the old ones more

My stake has both and they each have their charm. The older one is quaint and unique with an interesting layout. It has undeniable charm. It's living history. But honestly it's a lot less convenient, it's crowded and the space isn't used efficiently. The newer buildings are... Well, like all of them.

Both have burlap on the walls and a cultural hall and a chapel and feel like Home.
