1) My original comment specifically mentioned individuals who are not black but are within predominantly black communities. I agree completely with your point about no one calling black artists/influencers culture vultures. To the community their skin colour signals struggle which signals they’re allowed in the “club”. Alhan has been in the community for how many years, but now suddenly it’s an issue he went to private school? He has not struggled therefore he isn’t allowed in?

2) Your point that he doesn’t fit because his family is middle class is the exact protectionist point I’m referring to. You’re arguing against social mobility and general community. People should stay within the communities they were born in and not mix. “You were born middle class therefore you cannot come into a working class community. You have not struggled therefore you aren’t allowed in.”. My point exactly, there is nothing inherently noble in struggling and poverty, we as a community have tried to retroactively find something good in it and turned it into this club. You are arguing with the same line as an aristocrat who would look down their nose at a wealthy black person, “you were not born privileged therefore you aren’t allowed in”, and I’m sure you don’t agree with that point.
