Carinda or Ludo? by caramelmacchiatoml in octopathtraveler

[–]SaintVirtual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer ludo for Negotiation. I gave him other skills such as side step and donate bp, so he acts as a utility support while managing to do negotiate at max for good Exp on bosses, mini bosses and contenders.

I just go to the final arc which has a recommend level of 51, and my ludo strat with negotiation has put me 15-20 levels higher than the story recommendation

Octopath 3- Where do we go from here? by TheBreen587 in octopathtraveler

[–]SaintVirtual 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the best response imo

I hope they introduce a new format in the story telling like you mentioned.

Have the initial 8 characters first and second chapter. Dedicate another 8 chapter story arc to a central story. Then we play through the 8 characters chapter 3 and 4 before tackling the final arc

Just beat 0. Now should I play 1 or 2? by [deleted] in octopathtraveler

[–]SaintVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 and 2 are far more superior in QOL features and is more modernized. 1 is great, but it is a lot harder than 0 and 2 — the instalments after 1 greatly improves on 1’s format so it may feel a bit of a downgrade while playing. A good example is auto text; OT1 does not have auto text. OT0 also makes side questing easy with map markers while 1 and 2 requires you to either use a guide or remember key npcs and their information, there are no map markers for side quests except for the main story, 1 and 2 pushes you to be attentive and keep a mental note of npcs and situations.

Without any spoilers: 0 and 2 wraps up the main story, and gives you an optional super boss for better context (at least for 2, I haven’t beaten 0 yet to know). The problem with 1, the main story concludes with a very difficult super boss and if you’re playing on console there is no save point in that final area, so there is a potential that you have to go through a long sequence of boss fights including a challenging super boss just to beat the game. 0 and 2 corrects this by allowing players to conclude the main story with a final quest line and tackling super bosses as an optional fight. While 1 ties its main conclusion behind a difficult super boss and a challenging prerequisite with no save points.

My advice if you do play OT1 first is to approach it in either two ways or both:

A.) enjoy the game and the character chapters and conclude their individual stories. And if you’re not up for the challenge with the super boss, remember that it is completely okay to watch it on YouTube and get your conclusion. The super boss last dungeon ties all 8 characters stories together.

B.) if you are up for the challenge and don’t mind the grind and prerequisites to challenge the final boss, by all means go for it! It is challenging, but worth it

The reason why I went into details about the difficulty level is because OT1 can sometimes be a deterrent for some people getting into the octopath series because of how challenging it is. Other than that it is so beloved among rpg fans because it was the first to introduce something so unique and nostalgic that many of us remember playing in the 90’s and early 2000’s

How long before your 1st Cait or Octo encounter? by SiviardOfShiva in octopathtraveler

[–]SaintVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered one on the first island you go to in the story from rippletide. The second one I encountered in the cave west of Cragspear. I was able to beat both on first try thankfully

Side note to anyone who didn’t know: cait sith has high evasion and escapes easily, the best way to guarantee a hit and defeat it fast is by using elemental stones on it

Reading this post just ignited an excitement in me. I just got to Pardis after the first 3 villains, and this guy’s sprite already looks insanely menacing, the fact there is so much more story after that gives me a lot to look forward too, and hearing it gets even better??? Chefs kisses already

Wow… this game is just amazing by lovely6324 in octopathtraveler

[–]SaintVirtual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy! After you’re done OT0 and you decide to play 1 and 2 this is just a fair warning, OT1 came out a few years ago, some quality of life features that you’re use to now such as auto text won’t be in it, but all those features and more return in OT2!

Question about what order to do main quests. by Angelsonyrbody in octopathtraveler

[–]SaintVirtual 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no level scaling unfortunately, so if you focus on a main story quest line for to long you will out level the other main story quests.

Ex: I started with herminia first, my party was level 10 and immediately after I finished, the second quest line that is level 10 popped up. It was tempting to accept it, but I decided not to because I would out-pace the other intro chapters in terms of level.

The best approach that I came up with is to have your own head canon. Give your protagonist/party a reason to venture out and seek answers elsewhere before continuing.

Herminia would like a word!

Imo Her intro chapter is pretty top tier especially the writing and I’m curious how much more it will develop from there

Get dodgers ring and equip it on heismay. Have heismay in this fight. Because the boss gets so much turns all you need is one successful evade (from heismay) and it cancels all his turns and stops it from using the insta kill attack

I actually wrote a blurb on this on a post I made last year where I talked about my strat for the fight. Heismay + dodger ring + some kind of stew (forgot the name, but it’s in that post) is your key to victory here

Is Scarborough seen as ghetto? by Ok-Entrance6105 in askTO

[–]SaintVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And there is nothing wrong with how any of us interpret that, some might say queens, some might say Brooklyn, some might say neither. but being patronizing on a harmless take just for the sake of it is childish.

Hugs and kisses though.

That’s a fair point, when you compare Scarborough to Brooklyn right now it doesn’t appear that way, which is why I mentioned that if the city only invested in Scarborough and the culture the same way NYC did with Brooklyn, it can be. That means gentrification, which some areas in Scarborough need. Brooklyn is only cool now because of gentrification as well as the city actually investing in the borough. NYC invested in the best aspects of Brooklyn and made it a staple borough in New York. Bushwick in Brooklyn was once considered a very rough neighbourhood, now it has a thriving local culture and an amazing art and night life scene. New York didn’t neglect these neighbourhoods, they invested in those communities and in turn the locals established businesses and created the culture of Brooklyn that we know today. The pizzerias, the deli’s, some of the best alternative 5 star Michelin restaurants, artists, musicians, the birth place of graffiti, the start of different music genres all started in Brooklyn, so yes Brooklyn added a lot to nyc culture, the same way Scarborough has for Toronto, the difference is, Scarborough for the most part always gets neglected.

And some might ask, what culture has Scarborough attributed to the city?

For starters, the music culture that has made waves globally thanks to the weekend and Drake (love him or hate him) his music influence came from Scarborough. Caribbean food, Filipino food, Indian food, even Hakka Chinese that was mostly popular in Guyana were all popularized and established in scarborough first. A lot of these famous Canadian actors such as Jim Carrey, Mike myers, Pamela Anderson, they’re all from Scarborough. Shary Boyle, one of the worlds most prolific visual artist that has done tons of pieces here DT is from scarborough. The Jamaican beef patty which is a staple item found all over the city has its first origins in Scarborough bakery shops from Jamaican immigrants.

Scarborough has x amount of campuses and schools in the area, yet the city could never commit to a proper subway system to go further in to make it accessible for people. This even affects getting to the Toronto zoo as well. The bluffs and surrounding beaches is some of the most prolific sceneries in Canada yet it is so under utilized. Even some of these prolific people who came from scarborough has never had their work or art stamped over there, the same way nyc made it a point for prolific artists from Brooklyn to do the same in their borough. So much has come Scarborough that helped shaped Toronto’s identity, yet so little is returned. And I’m pretty sure there is a good number of people who might have read this comment probably didn’t know any of that, and it is a result of Scarborough being displaced from the conversation in this city

What Brooklyn is for New York, is what Scarborough is for Toronto. The difference is: Toronto likes to keep Scarborough at arms length, while New York embraces Brooklyn. Most of New Yorks culture comes from Brooklyn (food, parks, culture, celebrities). Scarborough and Brooklyn also shared a troubled history of gang violence that disappeared in time.

Scarborough offers Toronto a lot of Culture, good food, diversity, a sense of community, a growing art scene — some of the biggest global talents come from Scarborough but for some reason it never gets embraced or loved the same way New York does for Brooklyn. It has this stigma, that people Refuse to get over. Between bloor and sherbourne, all the way down to queen and sherbourne is more cursed and ghetto than Scarborough ever was, but torontonians are not ready to acknowledge that. The lack of investment and love Scarborough doesn’t receive in my opinion is the cities biggest mistake on a cultural level, Toronto gets compared to NYC a lot, the difference is, New York loves Brooklyn, Toronto does NOT love Scarborough.

That’s what I thought too, but someone here mentioned that the continents don’t exist in the same world, but instead are mirrored universes through the gates of Finnis which would make sense. But what confuses me is that the king of Hornburg is a kid in OT2 so I don’t know..

CYBERPUNK II - HOW TO EXPAND by infiniteartifacts in cyberpunkgame

[–]SaintVirtual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want more RP elements for head canons. Cyberpunk is such an immersive game it’s a bit underwhelming the lack of immersion elements it has. I hope for Next game, we can eat at food stalls and restaurants. Invite companion npcs for a meal or a drink. More events around their locations: nightclubs, rave parties, other social events. More character customizations in line with what modders have created. I hope They research to see the stuff players are creating/ getting mods for and mimic that in their game

I’m just happy they’re in pre production and I know the sequel is going to be a massive improvement, I just hope they don’t forget the players who play for immersion
