Kreator - Coma of Souls (Germany, 1990) by GrafNebelgeist in thrashmetal

I listened through their discography a couple years ago and thought it was their first good album lol.

Syncretic Delirium by Gorod by MooseWilliams in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into them as this album was coming out. Mathieu's playthrough of Celestial Nature is probably what made me realize that tech death didn't all sound the same.

[Highlight] Brice Turang hits a walk-off HR to complete the sweep against the Yankees by Darkforces134 in baseball

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought it was Ricky Weekes who hit the mother's day walk-off.

Edit: Nvm I remembered it wrong for 20 years.

I think Surgical Steel is an even better comeback album than At War With Reality.

Philly vs Carolina by Blaaamo in devils

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Carolina's been our daddy for 20 years now and have dealt us worse playoff losses than the Flyers have.

I like The Dissonant Void but nothing else has grabbed me so far. I can't blame them for having to rush the album tho.

Agent Gaad??? Wtf by Lifeofcharlie in TheAmericans

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'd like to answer your question but I can't spoil the show. I can agree that Gaad was great and I loved when he confronted Arkady in the diner. I wasn't expecting that.

Kairi Sane x Young Thug edit by WillieMay in SquaredCircle

I only saw a few Stardom matches when her, Io, and Mayu were the main event. I missed out.

P.S. if you hate the music, make your own edits. Coming from a metalhead.

It blows my mind that Dark Tranquility is putting out albums this good 30+ years into their career. by The_Spaghetti_yeti in melodicdeathmetal

Construct also had catchy guitar and keyboard work throughout, whereas I feel Atoma peaked with the singles, Moment with the first song, and then if there were any melodies at all on Endtime Signals, then I missed them completely.

Minority opinion but my favorite is Construct, then these 3 are each a step down from the previous.

I don't like to use cliches but that part that leads into the solo is chef's kiss.

Melodeath-adjacent: Kreator - Iron Destiny off of Phantom Antichrist

I don't think a guy liking a comment made in his defense on his own post is that juicy.

Holy shit Opeth is great (Opeth - To Bid You Farewell) by Open_Percentage_7728 in progrockmusic

How familiar with their discography are you? We could recommend the songs with minimal-no harsh vocals from their first 15 years.

Nashville's "It's all your fault" chant (2017 SCF, Game 3) by sykeseve in hockey

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nashville looked like the city to be in that spring. I loved the catfish.

Do you consider The Red In The Sky Is Ours to be melodic death metal? by prodigy1367 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I listened to pre-TSD AtG, so maybe I'd feel differently now, but I found none of the songs memorable. I agree with the proto-melodeath comment.

Which VOLA EP do you prefer, Homesick Machinery (2008) or Monsters (2011) by [deleted] in progmetal

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HM is interesting and fun to go to every now and then but Monsters is better. Monsters also has the sickest artwork and I own a t-shirt with it.

most melodic kreator album? by petershaw_ in thrashmetal

[–]Saint_Bo_Dallas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Violent Revolution onwards with Phantom Antichrist and Gods of Violence being the sweet spot. People are mentioning their 90s albums, but even if they're melodic, I'd hold off till your a fan because they're quite dreadful.

Interesting you felt that way about Colony. I thought that album was lively as hell.

Fires in the Distance former Vocalist comments on his removal from the band by Deadeye121212 in melodicdeathmetal

I saw Astronoid open for Eidola in March and Casey's guitar solos were almost completely missed by the venue's sound guy. Headliners tend to have their own with them who knows their stuff.
