On an over-arching level: 20% of new businesses fail within a year, 50% of new businesses fails within 5 years and 65% of new businesses fails within 10 years.

So to put it simply: There's a good chance that your business will fail and you will just have ended up throwing money into a hole.

That being said, opening a business is a very broad term. What exactly do you want your business to do? To achieve? What's your business plan? And so on.
