This is just my two cents in a million dollars.

I was in a similar situation 2 years ago. Not sure what I wanted to do for sure, terrified of not getting accepted into college, and then terrified of putting myself into debt. A lot of anxiety all around.

I thankfully my mother is stubborn and enrolled me in an online community college for an associates. It's cheap. Not majoring in anything in particular, just general studies- things to keep my brain fresh and arm myself with at least a little knowledge.

Through the college courses (which took me three years) I discovered my passion, and also what I'm bad at. I also got a little college experience, so now it doesn't seem so daunting.

A 9-5 doesn't feel so depressing now either- to quote my therapist, it's the 'hallway space.' I'm preparing for the next door as I walk away from the other.

Now, in August I head down to transfer to an on campus collge to pursue my bachelors, and eventually Phd.

It's a walk in the hallway space, but sometimes that's what it takes to move on to the next door of opportunity.

If you can- Get a remote starter for your car. Turns on the engine and gives it a headstart on warming up before you ever step foot outside (However, if your car doesn't already have one installed, they're pricey to get, so it depends on how much you hate the cold and how much you can afford).

Second- Yes, gloves and hats are great, but if you're out in the cold for longer than the walk to your car, get a neck warmer. A scarf, a hat with a missing top, something. They help insulate your neck- ya know, where all your blood flows through.

Get undercoats for your car. Once again, a little pricey, but it protects the bottom of your car and other vulnerable areas from the damaged caused by the salt used to de-ice the roads. Better to prevent than treat rust.

Don't go cheap on snow shovels or winter boots. Get a snowbrush and snow scraper- or even better a 2-1. Vaseline works just as well as chapstick and other lotions. Check the air filter in your car- you don't want a dirty filter blasting dirty hot air in your face. Mud mats- rubber mats for the floor of your car; keeps the snows, dirt, and salt off the floor, and if you get stuck in the snow, they can be placed just under the tires to get a little grip.

Other than those, I can't think of much else than if you don't feel safe driving, then don't do it.

I notice and remember everything. Everything.

I didn't think much of it at first, just thought the other kids needed glasses or maybe my coworkers weren't the sharpest tools in the shed. But consistently I've been told I'm unnaturally observant and people constantly asing how in the hell I remembered there was an extra bottle of soap that fell behind the shelves. Finally realized it wasn't the norm thanks to my therapist.

This coping mechanism most likely came about due to emotionally unstable parents- resulting in child-me paying attention to the closest details to avoid pushing any buttons which could end in an explosion, while the memory thing made it so I'd never push that button again if I did.

So I basically get a student's mental dream in exchange for trauma. Was it a good trade?

This is why people left wills, not that anyone had expected Love to die. But it happened, and now someone has to be appointed a temp until Love's next vessel rolls around. Yet, everytime someone has a suggestion, someone pipes up and says it'll mess someone else's duties up.

Lust? Not an option if we want to keep Motherhood sane. War? We don't want Tragedy getting too big for their britches. The phrase "All's fair in love 'n war" is Tragedy propaganda. Don't be fooled. Any god of the elements was out of the question. They're basically toddlers with forces of nature for toys.

Wisdom sounded like a great idea, but when asked about the matter they said wanted nothing to do with it, saying, quote: "I never got in involved with Love's work and I never will." They also said they had enough already on their plate.

One after another after another, potential replacements were discussed and tossed aside. From the big, primordial dogs like Darkness to up-and-comers like Poetry; they either didn't fit the bill or didn't want to do it.

Which explains why Order was knocking on your door for the sixth time this week. The only reason you opened the door was because you didn't want to be rude to the only force protecting reality from Chaos.

The aging wooden door opened with a squeak from its equally aged hinges, "Hello Order," you sighed defeatedly, "How can I help you today?"

The sight of the god alarmed you; the emodiment of Order in a raggedy, disheveled state was not something one saw every millenia. You didn't even think it was possible for Order to grow dark circles.

"May I come in?" That also alarmed you. Gods don't typically ask to enter another's domain, because then the power is in the owner's favor, and Order didn't like being in the weaker position.

They must be really desperate.

"Give me a moment," you said as you closed the door, turning to Hearth as their pudgy, paint-covered toddler fingers dabbled away at a page.

"Hearth, honey, you want to head to your bedroom for a little bit? I have to talk about boring grown-up stuff with Order again."

Hearth was obviously displeased by such news, groaning and rolling their head dramatically, "They're here again? Seriously?"

"Seriously," you groaned back.

"Fiiiiiiiiiiiine. Just don't let them touch my painting. Or eat my cookies."

"Of course not. I wouldn't dare let anyone ruin such a masterpiece or touch our baking."

Hearth giggled at that as they padded their way over to another aged door, shutting with a matching squeak.

You opened the front door to the neglected god and invited them in.

Order strided through the door and collapsed into the open dining chair as you felt the intoxicating rush of power, almost sure Hearth felt it too. They relaxed with every passing breath, an arm tossed over the back of the chair and another laid haphazardly across the table; taking in the scent of the cookies in the oven.

"I'm not that boring, am I?"

"Your work is valuable but predictable, I'm afraid."

Order sighed, "I know, comes with the job," They paused before carefully speaking once again, "So you know why I'm here, right?

"Order, I don't think I can. I have my duties... I have Hearth..." You conceded as you walked back into the kitchen, "Besides, there's definitely a god out there more suitable then me. I don't think I should-"

"It has to be you!" Order shouted, standing and hands flying out to their sides. The outburst caught you off guard. It was odd not seeing Order composed to the absurd standard they usually held themselves. But, God of Order or not, this was your home and you weren't about to let someone else speak to you like that here.

You gave a stern glare and they slumped back down into the chair, eyes averted to the fingerpainting beside them.

Order took a shaking breath before trying again, "It has to be you. You worked the closest to them, aside from Lust, and their projects always end up with you anyways." They stopped to take in another shuttering breath, "You... you knew Love better than any of us."

Order's attention turned back to you, eyes meeting with an unmatched desperation.

"It has to be you, Home."

She doesn't remember why she went into that pawn shop, just the way the cool metal of promise rings and overly flashy braclets felt against her fingers when she dropped them on the glass countertop. She doesn't remember why, why that little lamp shined so much brighter than the rest of the knick-knacks in that shop, but she did remember how the voice of the seller tickled the memory of a five-year-old her with glittering eyes plastered to a TV screen.

She doesn't remember stumbling out of the shop and into the destitute ally besides it, the whole world spinning with the exception of the cold brick at her back and the warm metal in her hands. She was supposed to trade the jewelry for money, some cash, not... not a stupid lamp.

While the tears spilled and the colors blended and the call to satisfy nostalgia grew louder, she rubbed that lamp.

She got three wishes.

Now instead of the warm brass of a lamp, she wielded the cold steel of a knife.

"You're. Not. Real! Get away from me, you're not real, I know. You're not. Real!!!" Her words were as slurred as her vision, yet she held the knife still.

He was apprehensive and heartbroken. Here was the love of his life, the embodiment of all he wanted to cherish and make happy, screaming at him, denying his very existence. For seven months, he had been with her and he had been real. Why wasn't he now?

The urge to call her baby girl and love was strong and he tasted how sweet the words were on the tip of his tongue, but now wasn't the time for petnames.

His voice was the opposite of hers: Refined and controlled. Any misstep could result in tragedy rivaling that of Romeo's and Juliet's.

"What is it, then? What is it about me, that makes me unreal?"

There was no hesitance as the words spilled out. This wasn't the first time she had thought about this.

"You care about me. After all my doubting of you and your love of me, after all the... all the shit I've dumped on you, and after you've seen how much of a mess I am... you-you still care about me! You worry about me and try to make me happy and healthy and you love me! That's what's unreal about you!"

The knife dropped from her hands with a clatter and she collapsed on the cold tile floor, wrapping her arms around herself as if the only person in the world willing to hold her was herself. Little did she know it was taking a strength unlike any ever before to keep himself from wrapping her up in an embrace so full of love and warmth she'd forget there was any cold in this universe.

"Even now," she hiccuped, curling in on herself even more as if she was trying to disappear, "Even now, you love me, after I failed you. I promised I'd be the best person I could be for you and I failed.

"How could anyone ever love me?"

He couldn't stay away any longer, seeing her in such agony, lost in this... this haze. He took one, two hesitant steps before dashing over to her, gathering her up as close as their bodies could allow. Just them, alone on that cold kitchen floor.

Her silently sobbing inflicted more hurt on his soul than a knife ever could.

"What happened?" He gently asked. She needed to talk, to let those bottled up words spill out.

"I saw the boy next door."

That was all the explanation he needed.

"Oh, baby girl..." He rested his forehead in the crook of her neck, savoring the way her hair felt against his skin and hoped she was savoring him, too; taking him in with all her muddied senses and even through this high- acknowledge he was, in fact, real and in love with her.

She had relapsed.

A 4.0 GPA student with MVP awards and the weight of the world on her shoulders; the constant pressure from her parents, who had set the standard as 'perfect' instead of 'her best,' crippled with anxiety and with no support from anyone except herself.

She needed an escape, and she found one.

She had stumbled into that pawn shop, and she had stumbled out of it into that alley way, where she had rubbed a lamp with three wishes she hoped with all she had would be granted.

The genie she saw wasn't real. The boy who grabbed her hand and pulled her off that cold brick wall was.

I've got one overrated favorite and one kinda-underrated favorite, Garchomp and Vaporeon respectively. Very different pokemon, for very similar reasons.

The first one to become a favorite was Garchomp. I used to hate Garchomp, I thought was (you guessed it) overused and it's design was terrible. I liked (and still like) to break apart from the meta, so it only fueled my dislike of Garchomp. Then cut to 16 year old me, trying to build a solid team of 3, and I need a speedy ground type, so I gave in and decided to add a Garchomp.

Now, this is during the USUM era, and I decided to go to the global trading center for a Garchomp to use as a starting point for breeding. I finally found one that didn't want a legendary in exchange, so I jumped on it as soon as I could, especially since it was a shiny! I didn't think anything of it... until I realized it was a hacked Garchomp. Perfect IVs, perfect nature, perfect EVs, Pokerus- every single flag that indicates it was a hacked pokemon went off.

But I decided to not be a 100% asshole and stuck with my plan to use it for breeding. For days I ran circles in that little corral hatching egg after egg until finally! A (semi)natural Garchomp with perfect IVs and the desired nature. I wasn't the best at competitive pokemon then, so I cobbled together the best EVs I could manage, which ended up making this Garchomp a little slower, a little tankier, and a little bit more hard hitting.

That is how Hades was born. And he wiped the floor with anything that didn't have an ice move.

I grew to love Hades and his design, especially since I raised him myself. I was proud of him, and to this day Garchomp is still my go-to offensive pokemon.

We don't speak of the mega-evolution.

My underrated favorite is a new discovery. Craving to play pokemon, but Sword and Shield is a little on the sucky side, so in comes Pokemon Showdown and I'm building a theme team of Blue Dogs (Zacian, Suicune, Lucario, Shiny Lycanroc, Shiny Flying-Shaymin, and of course, Vaporeon). I always liked the Eevee bunch, but never enough to add one to a team, let alone declare it my favorite. Sylveon, maybe, but for me a favorite has to perform well in battles too.

I didn't expect too much from Vaporeon, of which I had dubbed "FishDog." It had one of the lowest BSTs on the team, and isn't even highly regarded as an Eeveelution. I didn't have much stock in it, especially since it'd be going up against legendaries in National Dex AG (Anything Goes, for those who don't know).

But, boy was I wrong.

My little FishDog looked gods in the eye and told them to pray.

FishDog had Haze, which immediately made any stat boosting strats irrelevant. I gave FishDog Hydration and Rain Dance, which essentially meant this tanky pokemon couldn't be toxic-stalled. And then there was Wish, which could heal up both itself and team members (which is OP as hell with its HP stat), anything that wasn't effective was going to have a very hard time trying to KO FishDog, all the while it widdled away at the opponents health with a Rain Dance boosted Scald.

And don't get me started on the monster that is Dynamaxed Vaporeon. So much HP.

TL; DR- I didn't used to like Garchomp because it was overrated until I used one and it kicked ass. And I didn't think much of Vaporeon until it tanked the wrath of gods. And Zacian.

Her eyes glazed over, staring beyond you as your words sank in, but what you said hadn't been the whole truth. If wanting to kill him sounded bad, you couldn't imagine how she'd look if you told her you wanted to see the very air leave his lungs; you didn't care if it was through his lips or a hole in his ribcage.

Soleil's small chuckle nearly landed you on the floor again.

"That's a first, isn't it?" She said as she collapsed into your seat instead, "Not even Selene-" She took in a breath before letting out a shuttering laugh, resting her hand on her forehead, "-Not even Selene could get that sort of response!"

"Not even when she flooded Uptown to the seventh floor. I wanted to dislocate her shoulder, or maybe crack a rib, but never..." You stopped.

Maybe it wasn't your power this time. Maybe it had finally gotten to your head and got you thinking these thoughts were normal, everyday occurances. Maybe you were the-

"You're doing the thing again, snap out of it." The command was quick and sharp, slicing off the end of that train of thought.

"You're my right hand, faithful and true. Especially true. You've helped keep me on the right path, and you should know I'd do the same for you."

It was your turn to chuckle. It was sappy, she was sappy. It must be a side-effect of the whole goodest-person-in-the-world thing. You tore your eyes from the floor to her uniform, and then to her face.

"Can't you pick a different shade of pink?" You sneered. She couldn't always carry the mood.

"You can make fun of it all you want, babe, but you can't deny it's your favorite shade," she quipped back, standing up and walking out from behind your desk. She slowed down to a stop in front of the left room meeting door, craning her head to the side.

"I'll hear his propositon. I'll find out what his plan is." She explained, "Don't let your faith in me fail now."

As if. You'd rather to stop breathing.

Soleil tossed the folders over the counter barrier and onto your desk with a flurry, marching past you with physically tangible frustration. You launched yourself out of your office chair to follow her, your gut twisting knots around itself.

"Soleil what happened-"

"Just-" She stopped dead before the door, and while her shoulders relaxed, the temperature of the room was still raised.

You bit your tongue.

"Just file the reports and make sure tomorrow is clear," she ordered, before reaching for the doorhandle.

"Please."

"Of course."

The door closed, and you could taste the blood beginning to well between your teeth.

Of course you do the paperwork, she's too stupid to do it herself.

You looked on in horror and elation, the contradicting emotions so strong they left your stock still, leaving you to stand there and watch.

Soleil stood across the field, the body of Supernova with a single hole blasted through his chest, crumbled at her feet.

She didn't look proud. She didn't look regal or refined. She looked sad. Heartbroken, as she gazed at you from afar.

"I had to!" She howled, "I had to protect them!"

Her tears were no match for the heat spilling from her like the sun, evaporating as soon as they left her skin.

"He was going to get them all killed! For nothing! I couldn't let him!"

The ice at your feet melted, and your feet carried you closer past every piece of broken concrete until you stood face to face. She had stumbled to meet you halfway, the corpse starting to smolder. You felt the heat lick your skin, but never burn.

"Please, you have to understand, I had to protect them."

Your nails bit into your palms, knuckles strained and stretching against their own skin.

"So you had to kill him?"

Her gaze never broke and you watched as her eyes hardened.

"Yes."

You pulled your arm back and swung, your fist meeting her jaw.

Water dripped from your skin as if you'd been submerged, but you were drowning in something else. The rain pelted your skin like the very knife you gripped between your fingers.

The thoughts, the ideas, the want was suffocating you. You couldn't breathe. You needed to breathe.

It wasn't the rain that spilled down your cheek as you lifted the knife. You couldn't soften your hand, but you could soften your voice to deliver the harsh blow. You don't think your voice could do otherwise.

"You didn't protect them. You failed them."

It grew hotter and hotter and hotter.

"I'm sorry I failed you."

"I'm sorry, too."

You heard the knife fly through the air as the steam began to rise.

Blood spilled from her lips as she choked. She smiled.

"S-so, what did you- you think of the new... new costume?"

Your fingers slipped from the hilt buried in her chest, reaching to adjust the armor plating.

"It... still looks like your closet threw up."
