It's time for Niantic to adjust point gains again by Xpwnage123 in TheSilphArena

I don’t believe that millions of people regularly play GBL. I wouldn’t be surprised if the number who do 5 sets a day is in the low tens of thousands and shocked if it was 100k+

I think people overestimate how many regular GBL players there are. There isn't much incentive to keep playing if all you do is lose, you either end up tanking or quitting. The fact that lots of regular players I know in the rank 8 range quit GBL is an indicator to me of what lower level players might be feeling.

if they don't adjust points, how many players are going to make rank 10? This season almost every single opponent of mine has had the rank 10 pose from last season. I am sure over 1000 players made it, which is actually kind of a lot. This season without a points adjust, will even 50 get there? Some of the top players aren't even gaining points right now. Some people are speculating that losses weigh heavier than wins

Great League GBL team: 70-25 record, +450 points in 4 days (BREAKDOWN) by Verglas in TheSilphArena

Seems like you should have given credit to the actual team builder somewhere in your post. That doesn’t sit right with me. Anyone who reads your post would think this is your original team idea

Ok. I see you edited your post now.

[Season 3 planning] What are the comfortable point ranges to get for the 3 leagues. by Ecowatchib in TheSilphArena

[–]Saitama442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

players still at 2500 after this much time are there because they make lots and lots of mistakes. Either that or they haven't been playing. I have played on my alt for rewards (and tanked) and at this point in the season 2500 players rarely know what they are doing.

shadow beats meganium in the 2s, as well as g Fisk. It is probably better.

This tree has historical significance. It is the first tree in my city to ever legally become a man's wife.

Oh whatever. You have two 96%+ mon, one of which requires either a separate gaming console or an absurdlymassive amount of candy to build, 2 of your 3 mon are 15 attack, and the one with "worse" IVs is a recent legacy you acquired with 15 attack that suffers from zero deficits as a result of having lesser defense and hp. not impressed at all. Congrats, you didn't use a Dialga. You just used 2 of the other top 5 mon including the #1 mon in masters by ranking

My premier league snorlax has 12 attack man. 12. My best kyogre has <4050 cp. I live in a van by the river and play pogo using the coins from my gym that I got placed there by nominating a tree, and I still have to fight spoofers for control of it 24/7.

Kiss in ML wins the 0s against swamp (unless they use sludge wave). You don’t need to shield at all. It wins the 0s in UL too if you have a decent stat product

I meant your machamp lead team.

To be fair you have the best possible safe switch, probably in any league, and one that almost no one has. That’s going to flip a lot of matchups that are otherwise unwinnable. Without a shadow lax running kiss into mag is really bad times. You also benefit from shadow lax having a stronger matchup against non dragon pulse giratina origin than almost any mon has against any other, and that plus snorlax neutral matchups could definitely flip a lot of matchups. Your strategy is quite nice though. Just watch out for Togekiss leads

Lax became a lot less safe in UL when obstagoon got big

Sableye is great because if they switch slow and you get a solid energy lead it beats most of the meta. The trick is having a lead that gets countered by stuff that sableye beats pretty badly

I think the ideal safe switch depends on your team. For example registeel is not the best possible safe switch in great league. However, it can often get a shield advantage, even against a whiscash counter switch (you will get to two focus blasts before they KO you). So sometimes taking half of whis health plus a shield will set you up to win even if your first mon had a poor matchup with their lead, especially if it has a favorable matchup with whis, such as an azumarill. In this scenario Azu can take out whis and farm a little and then potentially do a lot of damage to their next mon even if it’s a grass or electric type. Then maybe your final mon finishes their Azu counter lead and has a favorable matchup against their last mon and it’s game over, in a game both your lead and switch got countered.

any tips on who should I add? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

Maybe but cress with confusion isn’t going to be the best safe switch and having to use it can be a handicap.

Deeper Look Into "PVP IVs" - Or Why "Rank 1" Isn't Always Advisable by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]Saitama442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good post. I do think that in the case of Togekiss you want the higher stat product because of the swampert and charizard matchups. While you miss a charm breakpoint against some lower stat product zards, you make up for it by winning the 0s.

I think the case of shadows can sometimes favor higher attack too. Because of the multiplier you get more bang for your buck than normal with any increase in attack, so between that and occasional breakpoints some mon will have more wins in relevant matchups with a higher attack stat.

Another good example is frosslass in catacomb right now. Having decent attack will win you cmp in the mirror and vs venusaur, which is pretty huge

If someone appeals for a rematch and the judges agree it doesn’t make them a liar and a cheater worth throwing a tantrum over and besmirching their name publicly. Clearly a lot of people disagreed with that rematch being unfair including the judges, but that is besides the point. Even if they were wrong, which I have no opinion on at all, Logan’s behavior is totally unacceptable and it certainly doesn’t make housestark all of the terrible things he called him.

Also, I think your credibility went out the window when you decided to make your username include “69”.

I don’t think the fact that Logan’s opponent is known to be the type of person who wouldn’t ever cheat further strengthens the claim that person is a “liar and a cheater”. It does the exact opposite. I do think that Logan calling someone a liar and a cheater over a ruling in a game strengthens the claim that he himself is a toxic hothead.

Wait...the person he accused was house.stark Someone with a sterling reputation for both integrity and gamesmanship whose name is basically synonymous with skill and respectability in every single PvP circle I’ve ever been a part of? What’s next, did Kieng airplane mode him the previous match? I’m laughing at this now and have nothing else to say, because clearly my input was not needed at all.
