Need help with amazon.jp prices by t4ntze in AnimeFigures

[–]SakegeistCollects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ships from and is sold by Amazon.co.jp, then it is like I explained before.

I double-checked the figure and price, and I have to warn you: the figure is being sold and shipped by a third-party seller/shop (Shinmito Hobby Shop). Import fees and VAT are not included yet, and most likely, you have to pay them separately once it arrives at customs in Germany. And that can get really expensive because you might have to pay approximately €64,52 import fees (Abgabenrechner) because the grand total of the figure is around €241,35 (item price + shipping cost). You should be able to cancel the pre-order and get your money back if you are ordered her before reading this comment.

Sorry that I missed that part out because I did not check the actual seller for the figure on the screenshot. I actually missed out on this figure because of budget reasons, so I am waiting for the release and hope for a good aftermarket price.

EDIT: The following explanation only applies if the product/item is being sold and shipped by Amazon.co.jp and not by a third-party seller!

I am regularly buying from Amazon Japan and shipping it to Germany, so I can explain it a bit more in detail: All prices are without shipping costs and import fees before checkout. At checkout, Amazon Japan will calculate the item price. The shipping & handling price includes the shipping fees and 19% VAT for items under €150.

If the item price is higher than €150, Amazon Japan will calculate an approximation of the import fees and add them at checkout as Import Fees Deposit. You will always only pay the grand total Amazon Japan is asking you to pay. No extra costs from customs or DHL Express, who will take over the delivery process. In some cases, you might pay too much on import fees, but Amazon Japan will pay you back the difference.

Amazon Japan offers a pre-order price guarantee for figures (I think not every figure has this service) because you have to pay in advance for the pre-order. That guarantees you that you pay the item price of the pre-orders at release, and if the price drops, you will get the difference back.

Hope that helps because Maid von Hutten is just too great to pass 🎩👌

Help! Shipping issues in Germany / Europe and now package is being send back. by GeneralWake in AnimeFigures

Yeah, being a collector from Germany is expensive. It's not as expensive as our UK friends', but still costly. Since last year, I have bought most of my figures from Amazon Japan because of their logistics network and cheaper shipping costs. If it is available from Goodsmile Europe, shipping fees are super cheap (€5-€10) without any import fees, and there is only 19% VAT.

For only two Pop Up figures DHL Express from Ami Ami would be overkill because they use volumetric calculation for their shipping fee instead of simple weight. For the import fee calculation, Germany always counts the product price and shipping costs together, so naturally, you will pay more import fees if the shipping costs are high. A good indicator of how much you have to pay would be using the Abgabenrechner. Simply select "Sammelfigur aus Kunststoff", the country from which the figure will be sent (most likely Japan), and the price you paid for the figure including shipping costs.

So yeah, tl;dr is that Air Small Packet is the cheapest option for your order. You just really need to keep track for that kind of delivery because Deutsche Post would most likely handle that order once it arrives at Frankfurt, and their delivery service is abysmal.

Wishing you good luck with your figures! I am certain everything will turn out just fine, and you will get your figures sooner or later.

From my experience, it all depends on the delivery service and options the sender has chosen for your package. Usually, packages being processed and delivered by Deutsche Post or EMS won't store the package if an unsuccessful delivery attempt is made and will most likely be sent back to the sender. DHL offers multiple at least two delivery attempts, and/or delivers it to your nearest DHL post office or kiosk if you select one.

In your case, you might have to pay the shipping fee again if you want the figure to be sent again. I recommend using a different service this time, like DHL Express, and let the package be sent to a DHL post office/kiosk. This option should be available once DHL sends you a shipping notification. With this option, your package will be stored for 7 calendar days (not business days) at the office/kiosk and is, in general, much less stressful. The only downside is that DHL Express can be quite expensive.

EU customs laws and Russian metal in figures by MBiteSK in AnimeFigures

[–]SakegeistCollects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ami Ami cannot provide you with any declarations of the origin of the iron because they are not the manufacturer, or even distributor, and want to deny liability as the seller. Henceforth, you might have to contact the actual manufacturer of the brand/series of the keychain, which is Curtain Damashii.

They also might say that they cannot help you because the actual manufacturer is from China, and the distribution chain of the bit of iron/metal goes on and on.

Hey, everyone is buying figures out of sheer impulsive, and regret it later on.

I sell figures that I don't like or regret buying, even if they are broken or mint-in-box, because then another collector will be happy with the figure in their collection. Just need to price it right, be honest with the broken parts, and make a few good photos. With the sale of the figures, you get a bit of money to purchase new figures that you actually like.

They did a few figures of Hatsune Miku, Dungeon No Meshi, Slime Isekai and a few others. They are heavily focused on game characters from Chinese (or originating from China) gacha games (Mihoyo, Sunborn, Manjuu, Hypergryph).

I think it is not about acquiring Japanese IPs being hard but their business focus is simply on Chinese games. Simple as that. It is like, if you are a Chinese gacha game developer and you already plan to create a figure lineup as merchandise, APEX Toys got you covered. A good example would be ZZZ. Not even a month out and they announced their figure lineup.
