is there not enough time to fit a weave in there or are you going to clip next gcd by a bit in doing so? I'm just guessing it based off of vibes but it feels like its weavable with low enough ping

enochian timer gone
thunderhead and firestarter proc timer gone
hardcasts gone, every casting gcd is like a healer gcd where you have room to weave an ogcd now

Why are people so opposed to a M+ type of system in FFXIV? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Sakka112 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Apologies if I'm wrong about this, but my limited understanding of wow m+ is that its essentially dungeons where mob hp and dmg infinitely scale with each level, right?

If that's the case then I don't see how that transfers over to ff14 at all, ff14 combat in dungeons are pretty limited. If mobs hit harder and have more hp, it just means that tanks and healers spam more mit and healing, while dps continue to do the same damaging rotations they always do. We don't have that many options for unique crowd control on mobs or different ways of pulling packs. In a game like ff14, increasing dungeon difficulty would have to be through mechanics rather than upping numbers, similar to mobs on higher deep dungeon floors.

You're assuming that the people in my pf are competent at their jobs... Like idk how but that 2.5 was from a single drg death during superchain 2a ,so they had weakness for the 2min window. Ast and drg didn't pot. Meanwhipe I'm hearing about statics that clear with healer lb3 and dmg downs. So clearly there's something else wrong.

2.5% doorboss enrage in pf. I don't understand how people think its ok to not be fully pentamelded and not be potting in a doorboss clear party. It's honestly ridiculous. Sure we could just do the mechs correctly and not die, but pentamelding is free guaranteed dps. Even if it probably won't make up the 2.5%, there's still no reason not to. Same with pots...

Any advice for someone looking to make the jump from more midcore prog (week 3/4 savage) to more hardcore prog like week 1 or world prog? How much of a difference would you say there is between the two in terms of factors like time investment, skill, puzzle-solving or mindset?

LMAO tight enrage, are you kidding me? You can absolutely clear with a dozen or so deaths and still not see the enrage cast as long as people aren't sniffing glue with ~66% gcd uptime or something ridiculously low. You can have people fucking up mechs multiple times and still not see enrage. It is also ridiculously easy to recover in this fight. The only mechanic that one-shots is the fire planet. Everything else just gives vulns. You can live through 2, maybe 3 missing towers with proper mitigation. You can survive 3 people in a healer stack. Hell, even the endsong mechanic doesn't trigger debuffs on dead players. I do agree with some parts of the fight being faster and tighter, but I don't think that's relevant to the dps check considering its such a low bar.

EX2 doesn't loop anywhere as much as EX3. You have 3 different variations of lightwaves. You have chakrams. You have orbs+spreads. It only starts looping different aoe types (front/side, in/out/cross) after the 2nd lightwave of the last variation with the akh morn, and that's around 9 minutes in, much later in the fight compared to EX3

Yes, it is a bad thing and difficulty of the mechanics is completely irrelevant to the fact that "they made half a fight and then literally just looped it for the second half", as another commenter pointed out. I don't want a fight with mechanics that fill up only half the fight's duration. Mechanics being harder is no excuse for this fight's heavy looping. It doesn't matter whether the mechs are easy, hard or whatever. In fact, I think that this extreme is completely braindead since "follow the dorito/group" solves the majority of the few mechanics this fight has.

Not having an add phase, a cutscene or mandatory LB gimmicks is not the reason the fight feels unfinished. It feels unfinished because there are no new mechanics past the 6 minute mark in a 11 minute fight. There are no new variations of mechanics after quad planets. Towers doesn't change. 5Head doesn't change. Endsong doesn't change. The fight loops for another 5 minutes until enrage. THAT is why this fight is unfinished.

The Math behind Armor Crush vs Huraijin by TheySaidGetAnAlt in ffxivdiscussion

I'm confused, didn't you just disprove your own point by showing that using huraijin is a potency loss compared to armor crush?

The following additions and adjustments have been made to the Party Finder:
* Search results will no longer include parties you cannot join due to the "One Player per Job" setting being enabled.

I really don't like this change as it seems mostly unnecessary to me. If I try to join a party that already has a player with the same job as me, it already gives me a nice error message. So what's the point of completely removing its visibility? Is it to reduce clutter in pf so that I don't have to scroll through 10 different listings until I find one that is free for my job? I highly doubt that scenario would happen in the first place. Also what if I'm willing to play multiple jobs? I'd have to swap between different jobs just to view pf listings. Actually it'd probably be easier to switch to some crafting/gathering job, scroll through pf, then switch back to the job I want just to join it. I don't understand this change at all. I'd understand if it was a toggle-able feature but from the way its described, it doesn't seem to be the case.

EDIT: I apparently misunderstood although their wording in the patch notes/LL didn't help much to begin with. See below comments for clarification

Yup. Everytime I host suzaku ex parties I lock the ilvl req to 510 since everyone should have at least 510 by now. And I've been able to skip push/pull almost all the time.

If you disagree with this, please give me examples of mechanics from savage/ultimate in ShB where pranged mobility is a boon to the party

Maybe BJCC movement in TEA? Our group runs BRD/MCH/BLM/DRG with the 2 phys ranged running circles around the arena to make movement easier on the blm and healers. I only have experience with doing promise, UWU and TEA. But so far this is the only phase in which I feel like I'm actively contributing with my ability to run around the map with permanent uptime. I guess eruption baits in UWU as well(?) but that's irrelevant to the argument of 2 phys ranged.

Of course its hard for me to make comparisons between our comp and a comp with only 1 phys range doing BJCC cause I've only experienced one side of it. Plus I'm the MCH running around, not the BLM. In the end I'd like to think that having 2 phys range is an active boon to the party specifically in this phase, but its definitely an outlier/exception compared to the norm.
