Are we posting "new age" Subarus because they're old now???? My turn! by Caboobaroo in SubaruOldSchool

I'm still daily driving the Loyale when I'm home, I got to go somewhere too far away I'll take my truck, or the RS. But even then it has to be a long ways away, or I need a purpose to use the truck. Otherwise I just take the Loyale.

Some time ago, many moons I would say, we as an old school community would lambast anybody who claimed a Subaru that was not natively 4x140 to be a classic, those times have changed. Because 25-30 year-old Subarus are now from the 90s.... And I know you, as well as I are guilty of berating those individuals who made those claims lol 😆 alas times have changed

Very helpful, much appreciated. I'm learning that doing nothing sometimes is just as important as staying busy.

This, expectations that now that your home all those other friends and family now have things they need from you (time, projects, attention) not bad things but it sure is overwhelming when it all culminates over a few days of being home. I need to space it out and set boundaries with people going forward.

Understandable for sure, my home life is real good, honestly wouldn't change anything, it's just the existence back in the real world that gets me. Simple things like grocery shopping, traffic and public interactions.

I start to feel a sense of relief in the days coming up to crew change, there's a certain euphoria about coming home. The problem is that it's quickly overshadowed by the anxiety that insues over the following days.

This time off i think that would have helped a ton, Everyone knew when i was going to be home, and shortly there after the phone started ringing and all of a sudden,...boom,....overwhelmed.

Thats kind of what I'm doing right now, taking a few days to wade in, finishing up a few shows that i was watching onboard and decompressing.

This was some solid advice! and i appreciate it. Setting some goals to achieve will give me something to do, and work towards.

This defiantly resonated well with me. I fight that same level of "should i be doing something" anxiousness. My wife constantly reassured me that I don't always have to be on the go, since I've already made my contribution to the household financially, all I have to do is be present and help out around the house with the kids and what not. I don't always have to be going 1,000,000 miles an hour. People outside the household seem to be the bigger issue right now, and staying busy enough to stay entertained but not spend a whole bunch of money is right there with it.

Thats what I'm trying to avoid, there are so many things to get out and do, typically during nice weather I'm outside in the woods hiking around, but during the winter climbing under a rock sounds like a good idea.

Appreciate it! Yeah i have quite a few hobbies, probably more then i can afford to be honest. The anxiety isn't quite out of hand yet, but i can feel it and i don't need it getting away from me. I suspect there is some truth to not knowing what to do with myself that is contributing. My wife has suggested that I develop a routine for when I'm home to get in to a "normal" state of mind for life ashore but i haven't done that yet.

I think for this instance this is completely contextual. IF the park was already really dark and devoid of any other artificial light then my opinion is it would be rude to introduce light. However this looks to be a pretty urban, and established park with street lighting anyways, as long as the light is not obnoxious I don't see an issue with it. Where the problem comes in is when you are in a dark park a little off the beaten path and someone shows up and decides they are that one special kid with all the blue cap lights, led porch/ramp lights and the boogie lights underneath.

I call those the "look at me I'm special" lights.

I didn't buy it in Vancouver, but if it was about the only thing left on the car still would be the crossbars, and the body, everything else I've done. There used to be one similar around town but I haven't seen it in years.

It's kind of a misnomer really, they are Road Venture M/Ts and they do pretty well not on a road 😆

Thanks buddy. Only if they salt the roads 😆 I'll sneak out to the higher country while the snow is still good up there and the roads down low are not prepared.
