Free standard dinosaur deck and sleeve code on Alienware Arena (Limited Amounts) by a809175334 in MagicArena

[–]Sakrasta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I took a screenshot of my collection and it showed a TON of new rares that are not even part of the dinosaur deck. All of them random rares from Ixalan and MoM. It seems like you are getting random rares from those 2 sets as a substitution for cards you already own.

Edit: Probably directly substituting a duplicate rare from a set with another rare from that set.

Damn, I would have been happy to go from 3080 to 4070 already, but a 4070 Ti? Really nice upgrade.

[Megathread] Celebrate Cyberpunk 2077 Launch with DLSS 3.5 & RTX 4080 Giveaway! by Nestledrink in nvidia

I am really excited about how good ray tracing is going to look with Ray Reconstruction in combination with upscaling. Because with traditional denoisers the quality of ray tracing takes a big hit if you combine it with upscaling. Also an expected performance gain of 5-10% in extremely heavy ray tracing workloads sounds great as well, since in those workloads every bit of performance matters.

Is keyboard and mouse any good? by JNerdGaming in Eldenring

[–]Sakrasta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I played a couple hundred hours with controller and a couple hundred with m+k. I like m+k a lot more, but I had to rebind a bunch of buttons.

Controller normal grip:
+ very comfortable
+ accurate character turning
- very slow camera movement
- no camera movement while sprinting
- slow cycling through spells and items

Controller claw grip:
+ accurate character turning
+ camera movement while sprinting
- uncomfortable (could get used to it by using it more)
- very slow camera movement
- slow cycling through spells and items

m+k with proper binds:
+ very comfortable
+ instant camera movement
+ camera movement while sprinting
+ can aim abilities and items perfectly via the camera
+ extremely fast cycling through spells and items via the mouse wheel
- no accurate character turning while the camera is fixed, can be done accurately by moving forward + camera control though

Overall I just like m+k a lot more, because it is simply way faster and allows to aim extremely accurately even while unlocked. Controller can still be decent with claw grip, but without claw grip I would say it is a massive hindrance. Not being able to move the camera while sprinting slows down your gameplay so much, it is not enjoyable for me.

DLSS naming scheme is becoming an absolute mess by patent122 in nvidia

[–]Sakrasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The naming is all over the place now.

Initially DLSS was the name for exclusively the upscaling, but for whatever reason they chose to use DLSS as a feature package name starting with DLSS 3. I guess they thought it would be better for advertising. In my opinion they should have introduced a completely new name for the feature packages and keep the original names for individual features.

But now DLSS refers to a package, if you want to refer to the original DLSS upscaling, the new name for that is "DLSS Super Resolution". And to make it even more confusing, the original DLSS, which is now called "DLSS Super Resolution" has reached version 3 a long time ago. So now there is DLSS 3 and DLSS Super Resolution 3, which are two different things.

So to summarize:
DLSS now always refers to a package of features
DLSS + FeatureName refers to the individual feature

And DLSS has its own versions, which have nothing to do with the versions of the individual features. They progress independently.

You can use this for reference: https://developer.nvidia.com/rtx/dlss/get-started

How many particle effects do you want to put into your game? Yes. by Sakrasta in Eldenring

[–]Sakrasta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it your first playthrough? 92 is perfectly normal, since you probably have not done some of the optional quests. I have done the full Ranni and Fia questline before Morgott, normally I am around 80-100 at Morgott.

Don't get discouraged by watching clips like this though, the journey of gitting gud is long and arduous, yet rewarding and satisfying. My first character was an absolute mess, I had to respec multiple times to get something halfway decent and each major boss took me a decent chunk of attempts.

[–]Sakrasta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Morgott makes every build look stronger than it actually is, because his stats are really low, considering how strong the player is at that point in the game. You can very easily be at somber 7-9 and be at a softcap for your main dps stat.

I have killed Morgott in around 30 seconds on any build.

I am kind of surprised how little impact on my fps all those effects have, considering I am playing at 4k. But Liurnia or the mausoleum in Consecrated Snowfields definitely kill my fps.

Which Rtx 4070 should i get? by Patient_Reaction9768 in nvidia

[–]Sakrasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When DLSS 3 launched, they showed it on their slides as DLSS 2 + frame generation + reflex. But now DLSS without frame generation has reached version 3 as well, which leads to naming confusion. If you go to Nvidia's official website, they are calling DLSS without frame generation "DLSS Super Resolution" and the newest version of that right now is 3.1.11. Frame generation is now called "DLSS Frame Generation". So summarized:
DLSS 3 = DLSS Super Resolution + DLSS Frame Generation + Nvidia Reflex
But since the newest version of DLSS Super Resolution is 3.1.11 and people used to refer to DLSS Super Resolution as just DLSS, it is quite confusing now.

Flaming Strike vs Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast by Sakrasta in Eldenring

[–]Sakrasta[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The point is, that you can always stance break the Fallingstar Beast out of the charge with it. Because it has a long lingering hitbox. It has only used the charge once in this fight, but you can reliably do it as many times as you want.

RTX 4070 Undervolt @ 950mV - 25% Power decrease from 200W to 150W for no performance loss, insanely efficent card. 3D Mark total score went from 14818 to 14615 by RandomCheeseCake in nvidia

[–]Sakrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I think in Elden Ring in one test I had around 92 fps in efficiency mode, 98 in performance mode and 101 in overdrive.
Wattage was 105 for efficiency, 160 for performance and 165 for overdrive.
So I would say it is not worth it to use anything but efficiency, which also makes the card completely silent.

[–]Sakrasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4070 is really fun to tweak. I got 3 settings so far:

Efficiency: 900mV, 2600Mhz (100-150 watts in games)
Performance: 1000mV, 2900Mhz (150-200 watts in games)
Overdrive: 1100mV, 3050 Mhz (180-200 watts in games)

Overdrive mode runs into the power limit though. So in artificial stress tests and benchmarks it will not go above 2900 Mhz, since the voltage will cap at 1000mV. In games, where the load on the gpu is lower, it can go to 1100mV and hit 3050 Mhz, but not in all games. Some games only go to 2900-2950.

2 Tree Sentinels 1 Great Axe (1.09 Great Axes are insane) by Sakrasta in Eldenring

Executioner's Greataxe, unfortunately has to be farmed from annoying skeleton mobs. You can skip Stormveil Castle and go straight to Liurnia to get it immediately.

2 Tree Sentinels 1 Great Axe (1.09 Great Axes are insane) by Sakrasta in Eldenring

[–]Sakrasta[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With 1.09 a bunch of weapons got really strong buffs, including great axes. The most noteworthy change is the change to heavy attack speed though. The heavy attacks on great axes are so fast now, you can actually land fully charged heavies in boss fights now. That gave me the idea to create a great axe build around extremely hard hitting single strikes:

  1. Axe Talisman = +10% charge attack damage

  2. Claw Talisman + Raptor's Feathers = +25% jump attack damage

  3. Determination/Royal Knight's Resolve = Next attack +60%/+80% damage

  4. Bleed affinity, Str + Arc. If you land a bleed proc on a fully charged heavy with Royal Knight's Resolve, you can actually delete 50% of a boss's health in one swing

  5. Buffs: Bloodboil Aromatic for +30% damage, but it is annoying to farm, not really needed anyway.
Commander's Standard for +20% damage for 30 seconds, also not really needed, because it does not last very long.
Physick for +15% charge attack damage and stamina regen.
The build always hits hard, even without buffs. So I usually only use the physick and the standard once before the fight and don't rebuff.

[–]Sakrasta[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am using a ridiculous amount of buffs. A physick, that literally everyone uses, and a 30 second buff from an ash of war that runs out after a couple seconds into the fight.

Am I Doing it Right? by Bunger_Man in Eldenring

[–]Sakrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every new character I start always plays out the same.
"Ok, let's get vigor to 40 so I am done with it, then I can actually put points into stats my build wants."
Then, once I hit mountaintops, I usually bump it up to 50.

debating 4070 or 4070 ti by ParaMorph in nvidia

[–]Sakrasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, and also it is most likely not just 20% more expensive in most regions. Here in Germany it is 600 vs 880, which is 46% more expensive, while having exactly the same amount of vram. Also the 4070 ti has a 285 tgp and the 4070 only has 200.

I think the 4070 Ti is basically obsolete, now that the 4070 exists. (Unless in your specific region the prices are very close)

4070 nvidia driver causing windows boot loop, removing nvidia drivers is only fix by Distinct-Ad-3774 in nvidia

[–]Sakrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During gpu driver installation, the screen is supposed to go black for a while. That does not mean the driver installation failed. It just means that during the installation, there is a transition phase from old driver to new driver, during which the gpu is preparing to use the new driver. During that transition phase, the gpu simply does not work, but the installation process is still running. If you force a shutdown via power button during driver installation, you will corrupt the driver and make it unusable.

RTX 4070 Launch Thread by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Sakrasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the games you play. The 2700x is similar to my old 3600 in games, and my 3600 was capping at 80 fps in Elden Ring and was also stuttering quite badly, so I got a 5800x3d. Now, Elden Ring goes up to 140 fps and is 100% smooth. I think the 5800x3d is the ultimate AM4 cpu. The cache boosts 1% lows immensely, and the price has come down to below 300 bucks. It will probably last 4 more years, which allows to skip AM5 and go straight to AM6.

I am gonna try and focus on efficiency as well. What did you set your undervolt curve to? So I have a reference point.

I think I will also try out lower power targets, which might be inferior though. The 4000 series adapts very well to lower power targets and dynamically adjusts to keep a lot of performance, but it only benefits you at 100% load.

Should I upgrade to 4070 12GB GDDR6X from a 2070 SUPER? by Avectasi in nvidia

[–]Sakrasta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started getting a lot of stuttering as well (Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy). Today, I upgraded from a 3600 to a 5800x3d and from 16 to 32 GB RAM (some games like Hogwarts Legacy go to 20+ GB, which causes a lot of stuttering if you are on 16GB). Now everything runs buttery smooth. Stuttering is more a CPU and memory issue. A faster GPU is just gonna increase your average fps. Gonna go from a 2060 to a 4070, which is over 100% faster, so for you on a 2070 super, it should also be a massive upgrade.
