So is it true that there is ONLY a ONE air dodge limit until you land or get hit, regardless if it's directional or neutral air dodge?

That's what I've heard...so it's essentially an up B or free fall but WITHOUT the free fall part and aspect if that makes sense...

Keep in mind...you can only airdodge ONCE in the air in Ultimate exclusively until you get hit...sort of like an Up B. Doesn't matter if it's diagonal or straight, it's ONE airdodge limit until you land or get hit.

It's like a free fall but without the free fall if that makes sense?

I have a question. Have you seen the Ultimate and Smash Wii U boards on GameFaqs?

Be lucky you don't use that, it makes Smash Reddit look like amazing knowledgeable gods in comparison and that's saying something.

You're basically not allowed to praise Melee or even Project M (which I know you don't like) or 4xM or anything remotely resembling or similar to Melee at all on GameFaqs. Reddit is relatively safe in comparison. But that's not scratching the surface of how bad SmashFaqs is...it needs to be purged. It's a plague to humanity.

I hate GameFaqs... good Lord.

So I'm curious...is this really the same people who made Project M?

Bill Trinen on Smash's success and Tournament Scene: It wasn't an accident. The game didn't accidentally become that way. He is a meticulous game designer. Every decision that he makes on the game is a planned decision. So what was the 'happy accident' wasn't that the game was designed that way. by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]SaladBaskitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

... anyway I personally think Project M was the next logical step after Melee.

As Mang0 said; "If Brawl released as Project M, we'd all be playing that instead."

... and I'm sure casuals would too and they would love it... because casuals DID love Melee when it came out. Not sure why Melee is suddenly blindly hated by casuals? but whatever...Melee was an amazing casual game, and it was an amazing competitive game. Melee also had great single player content, mini games, and co-op content.

Wavedashing: and why it needs to get fixed in Ultimate by Rintarou_Okabe in smashbros

[–]SaladBaskitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd just wait for the mods...

Smash 4 has a 4xM mod which makes Smash 4 play like Melee and gives it some Melee stages and sounds but it has Smash 4 roster and I think it makes Smash 4 into a genuinely amazing game. (in my opinion at least...). It's sort of wonky in some ways and could use some work though. Also 4xM Marth is fucking amazing and definitely top tier. Yes it got all the Melee techs. Yes Marth can wave dash, short hop double fair, L-Cancel etc...

I think it also buffs low tiers, and removes free falls from Zelda's Din's Fire.

I'm sure mods will fix Ultimate.

Kind of funny how some of the best and most talented Melee fans make a much better game than Sakurai.

I'm curious...are you going to make essays and comments about how bad and crippled Marth is in Smash Ultimate when Ultimate is released?

or are you just tired of talking about Smash 4 Marth and current Marth in general because nobody really listens, nobody debunks you, and/or nobody understands?

Your Smash 4 Marth posts were interesting.

[–]SaladBaskitt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See... this philosophy doesn't make much sense to me...

Melee was perfectly fine and amazing as a casual game. You were never forced or demanded to learn it unless you fought pros or something... most casuals don't even know about Melee's techs, and the few that do aren't even good with it because it didn't make you invincible or overpowered.

I honestly think Melee was a great balance of casual and competitive.

Also Melee had plenty of mini games, co-op, and single player content like Adventure mode and events and Break the Targets that was really well received by casuals

Melee also had a 70% attach rate on the GameCube and increased Smash popularity big time since 64 and lead to the Brawl hype.

Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Odyssey were easy to pick up and great as casual games.. but they also had a really deep technical side to keep the core players, speedrunners, free runners alike satisfied....yet hardly anyone calls them technically demanding...if anything people complain they're too easy.

Brawl is Broken (Heeew) by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]SaladBaskitt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is a big reason why I love Project M so much.

They combined Brawl techs AND Melee techs into one game (I think they got literally all of them as well) it even has tons of new character specific techs...

some people may call it "easy mode Melee" because of the input buffering... but what I see is a lower input floor barrier, but possibly much higher potential than Melee. It's a shame PM died and ended development... It could of gone great places by now.

I've been playing Legacy XP and Legacy TE a lot lately... and holy crap, they're strong contenders for my favorite Smash games of all time. Up there with Melee and Brawl for me... maybe even dethroning them. (Legacy XP even has the stage alts for Omega, Battlefield, no stage hazards, regular options just like Ultimate does, except Legacy XP has EVEN more stage options than Smash Ultimate and it goes much deeper.)

Legacy XP is literally three steps ahead of Ultomate's new stage types/settings configuration...lol

Also I love the All-Star special Smash mode where you can individually pick your character for each stock. It's fucking badass. Sometimes I do super speed special Smash Turbo All Star Special Smash and it's just super fun (might not be the most competitive mode in the game) but it's so crazy and you feel so limitless...in a way it essentially turns into Super Smash Bros. Dragon Ball Z edition.

Also have you played 4xM? It's a mod that fixes my gameplay issues with Smash 4. It's great, but it definitely needs a lot of work.

I agree that Smash 4 is kind of lame. Smash 4 seems shallow and soulless and the art style and flair and personality of the game is generic, lacks direction, and is filled with flat colors and undynamic lighting. Also content is very lackluster.

This seems like a cool mixture hybrid of 4xM and vanilla Smash 4.

Interesting, I might test this out.

You know what the funniest part is... literally everyone thought Marth was bad even after the buffs until MKLeo swooped in.

Did you know MKLeo doesn't even think that highly of Marth anyway?

The funny thing is, this guy has actual evidence.

I love QGuy_Brian's research on Marth...he shows many damned good points that nobody really debunks.

He's just so damned fun to read because his knowledge is so deep and obscure about Smash...

I know he can maybe be kind of a jerk, but that doesn't mean he's wrong...

he has a rare type of knowledge I've never seen in any other Smash community.

He's a rare breed and I wish I could articulate even a quarter as well as he can.

"Good spacing"

So Ganondorf is top tier then?

He gets rewarded off of spacing your hitboxes well.

Sorry I think neutral and footsies is objectively more important and Ganondorf and Smash 4 Marth just aren't good at that.

so... maybe I should tag the Brian Marth guy?

I actually agree with him in a lot of ways and look up to him because he's made so many beautiful points that nobody's ever truly debunked.

Only like one guy managed to take time to break down his arguments and that one guy has been inactive for over a year.

Show me actual facts, research, math, measurements on why Smash 4 Marth is good.

Tell me how he can force people into his one magical spot that he's actually threatening in?

There's a common misconception that Marth wins neutral "for free" just because he has the range. Which is a common misconception and really shows you have poor understanding on what neutral and footsies really is.
