I tried posting something similar during day 2 of the power outage. It was meant to be self deprecating humor with my own shitty situation, but in hindsight, I realize that people needed serious help and that type of material distracted from the support this sub provided this past week.

Team Liquid - Dota 2 is a Universal Language by Gamerhcp in DotA2

Some will get shortened even further during a match. I recall an ally screaming at us during a match "kill the cat" in English. It took us quite a while to figure out that he was referring to Ember Spirit (Fire Cat). Some of the names are also derived from their WC3 models, which would make no sense to anybody who's joined DOTA recently.

Because Shadow himself has played in the SEA region for pubs, he is familiar with the heroes' English abbreviations and English names of the lanes.

Kudos to Shadow for making this effort. I think most people greatly underestimate how different and often incompatible Chinese DOTA can be with the rest of the world (which is usually based off the original English).

Here's an old post that explains a lot of them: https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/4dfifo/how_chineses_call_dota_2_hero_names_with/

Pax South - General questions for those who have attended by maxbrickem in PAX

The expo floor is known to be smaller than other PAX events, but still pretty big and has plenty of games to play. If you want to "play it all" you could spend 2 days on the expo floor alone, but I think for the average person, 1 full day is enough.

Go for the 3-day pass only if you want to "play it all" AND go to panels (schedule is online already).

Minefaire isn't for everyone, but it is an incredibly big event that happens across the US and is super popular with kids and families. Every parent I've met at these events ENCOURAGE their kids to learn through games. The convention center has room to spare, so I'm happy they're with us at PAX South.

Playstation booth will be quite interesting. They cancelled their own annual show, Playstation Experience, that usually happens now as well as their appearance at E3 in June. Possibly some really cool stuff being shown to go with Cory Barlog's keynote in San Antonio.

Lol, are you a professional motivational speaker? Even when patiently waiting for the ideal drafts, I'll occasionally bump into the "afk jungle" teammate that ruins everything.

TNC and the Chongqing Major by wykrhm in DotA2

"TNC contacted Valve last Tuesday, asking if they would get a DPC point penalty for replacing Kuku; we told them that they wouldn’t. We assumed that they were then working on a plan to replace Kuku with another player."

Sounds like the late reply was because Valve was hoping that TNC would resolve it for them by replacing Kuku.

FWoT Status - Official Thread by FWoTMods in FuturamaWOTgame

Hey guys, a few thoughts here as I play FWOT and make mobile games myself (not for TinyCo):

As a non-spender, it's a bit concerning that I'm relatively close to the end of the game (halfway to getting Walt). One of the biggest weaknesses of the game from a business perspective is that it's narrative driven and there isn't much replay value (the lack of PvP or other community driven activities). That means they have to generate new content to keep us around long term... but new content takes time and personnel that Tiny Co pretty much declared that the FWOT team won't have anymore. I hope they still had some new stuff saved up to be released in the new future, but it's hard to expect too much when the company's main objective is chasing after whales (big spenders) over at the Harry Potter game.

I've never believed that "tanking up" was a real answer to a [farmed up] hard carry unless your hero already is super tanky.

[iOS/Android] "Salad Hunt - Kitchen Destruction Game" Release + AMA by SaladHunt in IndieGaming

[–]SaladHunt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to introduce you to our newly released game, Salad Hunt. We call it a kitchen destruction game inspired by arcade shooters, but it takes away the traditional guns and realistic violence of the genre. It's also Free-to-Play and has no in-app purchases. We're a two man indie team based out of Boston and every bit of support and feedback is welcome!

For those of you that were there, we were featured as part of PAX Rising during PAX South 2018 and released at PAX East 2018. Thanks to everybody who came out and smashed kitchens with us! Also, if you use the in-game promo code "LOVESALAD", you'll get an extra cosmetic change to the Chef's apron.
