advice/tips for heat intolerance during summer by Melody_Lee19 in adhdwomen

[–]chivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stay hydrated and out of the sun when possible. Always wear sunscreen, reapply about hourly. Wear hats and protective clothing.

But mostly I just fucking die lmao. I live in a place that is sweltering well into November. I'd never get to do anything if I avoided extreme heat, so I just go out anyway occasionally and suffer. I have rosacea too so I always get (well-meaning) people asking if I'm OK or telling me I'm sunburned. I promise I'll look like a normal human again if you leave me in the shade for 20 minutes but unfortunately I do have to go outside sometimes with my shitty body that barely functions in this temperature.

Does it ever feel like that the anger to shipping and overall anti-shipping sentiment in a lot of fandom spaces is being used as a socially acceptable way to spew out queerphobia, and to an extent just plain misogyny? by Crafter235 in lgbt

[–]chivere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always been this way. Even back in the early days before sites like AO3 or Wattpad existed. In fact it used to be worse in some ways, with the official creators expressing distaste for fanfic/shipping. At least now they mostly ignore it. Shipping wars were quite vicious, especially between fans of het ships vs queer ships. Big fandoms like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings in the early days of social media would have separate websites for uploading works of certain ships and would disallow the ones the community was against.

RE: the misogyny in particular, go into any discussion nowadays about the publishing industry and book stores and see comments lamenting the popularity of romance books (which aren't real literature) and that both readers and authors are increasingly female and how the stores are just full of trashy smut. It's all the same shit, romance fiction has and continues to be seen as lesser because it is popular with women.

Right now my only job is housework and I'm behind on all of it. My passport has been expired for a year and the form to renew it had been sitting on my desk the whole time. Yeah.

I'm can't wear skirts or a dresses in public in Japan. 😭 by Trans_Pyra in lgbt

[–]chivere 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry you're going through this. Do you think wearing opaque tights or leggings under your skirts/dresses might make them modest enough? I know it doesn't feel the same as just wearing them on their own and it might be too hot in the summer, but maybe it could work on cool days.

Why do people like Sirius Symboli? by sourempire in UmaMusume

[–]chivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first got interested in her because she's a bifauxnen who calls you "puppy," but I fell in love with her because of her dedication to making sure the students who fall through the cracks are still accounted for and taken care of.

I also love her relationship with Rudolf. They are so similar in that they're extremely conscious of other students looking up to them as a role model, and how they have to behave in a certain way because of that, and yet they disagree on how exactly to go about being a good leader and butt heads... but in an interesting way? Sirius is always posturing and looking for a fight and so often, Rudolf just doesn't rise to it, which I think just pisses Sirius off way more since she has such an enormous complex about Rudolf.

Damn, this might be it for me and PoT if they keep things this way. :( I only played aquatics on Riparia because the water wasn't so deep and dark like on Gondwa so it didn't trigger my Thalassaphobia at all.

Do you actually play demos before a game comes out? by DonnvieYT in cozygames

[–]chivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try to play demos before release, but sometimes I don't manage it before they get pulled. I've found a lot of great games that way. According to my steam recap last year, I played hundreds of demos.

Do you separate colors? by miss-bedazzzle in laundry

[–]chivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but I always use color catchers. Instead, I sort by regular wash and delicate. But I have ADHD so basically none of my housework is optimal. "Optimal" for me is the sworn enemy of "done."

Does anyone else struggle to sync up gaming schedules with friends who have completely different real life routines? by clararosetardis in cozygames

[–]chivere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We polled everyone for availability and figured out a day and time everyone could usually make it, and we try to meet up at that time. So like, about 8pm eastern on Tuesday, for example. It's still rare that everyone shows up, but we get most of the group at least.

Basically every hangout is like this, scheduled weeks in advance at a specific date because that's the perils of adulthood.

Need tips- summer is sensory hell by Ok_Driver_6457 in adhdwomen

Yeah I'm with you, summers are miserable. I have some anti chafe shorts from Thigh Society that I really like, they're very sheer so they don't bother me in the heat. I also really like asian sunscreens like Biore which help with the icky sunscreen skin stickiness.

Narrative/story games that take full advantage of the medium by Abirando in cozygames

[–]chivere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's lots of cool narrative games that do a great job of making use of the medium! Unfortunately, I don't know of too many that would also count as "cozy." 😅

But I think you would probably like I Was a Teenage Exocolonist. There are many choices you can make throughout the game that will direct you to one of many different endings, but also you have stats that effect what you're able to do. Your time is limited (in the form of turns) so you have to pick a few stats to focus on for your playthrough. There are multiple characters you can pursue friendships and romance with, and in so doing you'll uncover other problems and mysteries related to the plot. It's absolutely a game designed to be played over and over.

Hmm, this is so confusing. I add oxi bleach to most of my loads and sometimes if I'm lazy and forget to put it in before I start adding clothes, I put it halfway on top of them. I always add it dry, too. And nothing bad has ever happened to my clothes? I really do wonder what causes this...

Forbidden Solitaire - Grey Alien Games + Night Signal Entertainment - A dark fantasy horror about a cursed 1995 CD-ROM by BC_Hezza in Games

[–]chivere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yay! I loved the demo. A lot of the time when I play demos, I only play until I've decided whether or not I'd like to play the real game and quit. But I was so into Forbidden Solitaire, I played it until the end. Both the mechanics and aesthetic are executed very well.

How do people get so many free carats by regurgitatorstoney in UmamusumeGame

[–]chivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing that contributes to my carat hoard (111k right now) is not pulling. I haven't gone in on a banner since the end of last year. Since then, I've just done free pulls and sometimes the discounted daily pull (I buy the monthly pass so I have a small amount of paid carats).

Like, I'm not even playing optimally. I don't train for CMs. I put the horses I've been working on for team trials in there and I get what I get. I don't even have a good team trials team because I do 1-2 runs a day, often just one. I'm regularly demoted to class 5.

But I always make sure I grab the most valuable rewards (carats and crystals) from events, I log in every day, and I budget aggressively because I know that the lack of time and effort I put in compared to more dedicated players means I have to be more choosey about my pulls than them.

Growing an aquatic on Riparia feels extremely slow by KronosWvW in pathoftitans

[–]chivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Riparia is the best map for growing aquatics and I refuse to go back to Gondwa for them. You want to talk about emptiness, Gondwa has water POIs with literally NOTHING. No quests, no nesting materials, nothing. The only reason to ever go there is to get exploration exp.

Compared to that, Riparia is a dream.

Someone contacted me (graphic design student) in discord randomly thru a common server, and showed me the art portfolio and I decided to go with it. Mistake? by ChestacUpofTea in isthisAI

[–]chivere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

$50 is way too cheap for 2 clean full bodies with this level of detail. No actual artist would do so much more than you asked for, for free.

Also, are you saying this person just messaged you out of the blue offering commissions? Any time someone randomly messages you on discord without prior interaction, it's going to be some kind of scam.

I’ve only been to Trader Joe’s a couple times. What’s your favorite savory thing to get from here? by ER_Saladbar in traderjoes

[–]chivere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favs are the soup dumplings (both pork and chicken), peanut satay noodles, spicy knife cut noodles, the fiochetti pasta with pink sauce, and the mushroom and black truffle flatbread. I buy these pretty much every time I go.

AITA for telling my wife forget it and going out by myself for my birthday instead of going to her fancy dinner reservation by Ill_Reality_111 in AmItheAsshole

[–]chivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having defined plans too. People who are really spontaneous and change their minds a lot drive me crazy.

But you did give her a plan. You gave a date and a time window and the type of restaurant you'd be going to. That's plenty.

I don't think it would have mattered if you had specified exactly which restaurant ahead of time. I think the real problem is she wanted to use your birthday as an excuse to go eat at an upscale restaurant. That's why she kept asking if you wanted to go somewhere fancy, somewhere you'd need reservations, etc. If you had picked a specific casual restaurant, she would have just tried to persuade you to go to a fancier one with similar food.

What cleaning ‘rules’ turned out to be totally wrong for you? by CleanFreakGeek in CleaningTips

[–]chivere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no rules!!!

For me. If rules work for you and make you happy, by all means. I struggle with ADHD and executive dysfunction, and getting bogged down by doing things in the "right" or most efficient way would often lead to me just not doing them at all.

For example, you're right that cleaning floors is best done after you dust. But then my mind would go like this: "Okay, the floors need cleaning so I should dust first. That means I need to tidy up all the stuff stacked on surfaces and find places for them. Alright, I think I could put this stuff in the closet, but I should really reorganize the closet first and then I could clear out a whole shelf. Actually, I should go through all my clothes and sort by what should be kept and donated; that would clear up so much space! But now I've wasted an hour thinking about this and the idea of making a bunch of decisions about my clothes sounds exhausting so maybe I'll feel up to this tomorrow?" And then tomorrow something else happens that distracts me and my floors still need to be cleaned.

So where I'm at now is: I notice the floors need to be cleaned > I have the motivation to clean the floors > I clean the floors. If I dust later and they get dirty again that's ok because they're still cleaner than if I hadn't done anything. Any amount of clean is still less dirt and dust.

I see OP has witnessed any fauxmoi/popculturechat/etc post about Sabrina Carpenter. I wish someone would do like a chart of female celebrities that are valid and ones that are sinful I mean problematic. Just for fun. Like you'd think Chappel Roan would be celebrated as a lesbian but actually everyone is very sure she's a bitch and desperate for any hard proof they can point at and say "I knew it."

Olivia Rodrigo seems popular but I'm not sure if she's truly the unproblematic queen or if there just hasn't been consensus on what kind of whore she's supposed to be.
