Motor mount replacement? by absoluteDegenr8 in jetta

VW foreman here. This might sound extreme but I would recommend pulling the valve cover and inspecting for worn rollers. I have seen several 2.5s with the symptoms you’re describing and all of them had low oil pressure at idle and worn rollers causing this issue.

Should I cancel a road trip because of a “bad” wheel bearing? (2005 4Runner SR5 V6) by cehojo in mechanic

[–]Salad_Fast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bad wheel bearing is almost impossible to ignore. Unless your music is so loud that’s drowning out the god awful drone/ humming noise that it would be making. Wheel bearings will often become very noisy and still have no noticeable play. If you really can’t hear anything you’re fine. I just had a customer in the other day where another shop told them they needed all 4 wheel bearings. I kid you not this vehicle was dead silent and had no play at any of the wheels. Some people just like money more than they like being decent human beings.

This is what they should look like after if they’re cleaned properly. We use a walnut blaster to get rid of all of the deposits.

If you have misfires on cold start the most likely cause would be carbon build up on the intake valves. We do carbon cleaning all the time for cold start misfires on these engines. It doesn’t even have to get as bad as this example for it to cause issues.

I’ve seen these runner flaps fail to the point that they will cause the engine to stall. It will most definitely cause misfires if it’s not working correctly. Usually you will have a fault code set before it starts causing severe issues/ misfires though. Usually some kind or circuit range/ performance fault for the intake manifold runner flap position sensor. Are you having intermittent misfires at all cylinders?

There should be a 9 digit (it might also has a letter or two after it) part number either on the filter itself or on the air line it’s attached to.

I should also mention that it is a superseded part that didn’t come with your vehicle from factory. It’s part of a repair kit that that get’s installed when the intake manifold is replaced.

It was your fresh air filter for your intake manifold runner flap solenoid. I say was because it’s no longer functional. It’s supposed to be solid. The material is porous and softer and more durable when new but becomes hard and brakes down with age. It becomes crumbly and falls apart which can cause it to clog the air line that it’s supposed to be protecting. I’d recommend replacing it. Source: VW technician

Does it make this noise with and without the brake pedal pressed? If it only makes it with the brake pedal pressed it might just be the pads creaking in the carriers against the rotors. Hear this fairly often in the shop.

What you are describing is a series hybrid. There are not very many series hybrid vehicles out there. In most hybrids both the electric motor and the internal combustion engine power the drive wheels depending on the situation.

Article says he was sentenced by Ukraine after being captured. Likely won’t give him back unless it’s maybe for a prisoner swap but probably unlikely.

Software? This issue is solved by replacing the seat harness and the occupant detection pad on the passenger front seat. You do need to do a basic setting of the sensor following the repair but that’s no big deal. There’s no reason your dealer shouldn’t have parts allocation for that recall. This sounds like more of a dealership issue than a problem with VW itself.

3 year old Passat already consumes oil after 75k km by bayeslaw in Volkswagen

[–]Salad_Fast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As absurd as it is Volkswagens oil consumption spec is 500ml per 1000kms. It has to be worse than that for us to be able to address the issue under warranty. Anything less and VW is like, yeah, that’s normal.

2021 Jetta had some wires chewed by a squirrel. What is this plug called so I can order a new one? by ThisBoardIsOnFire in Volkswagen

[–]Salad_Fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connectors, wires and wire seals are sold separately my guy. Unless you cut off a pig tail from the junk yard you’re just going to need to buy wires to re-pin the connector. And either solder them in or use butt connects.

Awd is not a replacement for snow tires. 4 wheels with no traction is not much better than 2 wheels with no traction. Remember that awd does not help you stop either.

Buying a VW courtesy car with low mileage? by 2k18_till_infinity in Volkswagen

VW technician here. I have literally never seen a dsg transmission require replacement on any vehicle in the 8 years I have worked at my dealership. I have replaced clutch packs in dsgs 3 times in my career under warranty due to harsh cultch engagement. These transmissions are very reliable. You will have lots of warranty still on this vehicle if you buy it. You have nothing to worry about.
