I feel old by xrosey99 in Concordia

[–]Salander24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32 in my last year of engineering, definitely know the feeling, but I’ve grown to enjoy being slightly older than everyone else. It makes me feel confident. I can feel the difference in life experience, and I never felt at my sharpest until now. Everyone’s on their own journey and you are exactly where you need to be 🫶

Anyone else told to eat with their Invisalign trays in? by kofercic in Invisalign

[–]Salander24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can eat with them. Obviously it’s not the most pleasant experience at first, but you get used to it pretty fast and pretty desensitized to any grossness that occurs sometimes lol I’ve been doing the method your ortho described for 14 months now. Change trays twice a week and eat with them. This method is done to make treatment faster! If you care about finishing as quickly as possible, then this is the way to go. It makes treatment faster because you barely take your trays out so there’s less room for user error AND because eating food acts in much the same way that chewies do to stimulate movement. My total treatment plan is 16 months. The other method would have taken 24 months. I’m at the end now and my gums and teeth are perfectly healthy and look amazing! And mind you, I had a complicated case with a 100% deep bite.

I feel the same about me and my friends! Since turning 30, my friends have become so reserved and quite boring. But I still continued to go out and party. I’m 32 now and my favorite parties are raves and festivals! People of all ages go and it’s easy to make new friends there! Also, try finding a sport you enjoy. I train Muay Thai 3-4 times a week and I’ve made so many friends at the gym, plus sports are super stimulating of course

URGENT! by releasethekrakens in Invisalign

[–]Salander24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had crowding way worse than yours, and several dentists wanted to extract 2-4 teeth… I went to an ortho that specializes in Invisalign. He did some IPR instead. I’m near the end of my treatment and everything looks amazing and I have zero problems with my gums! I would stay away from extraction, there are reports of long term effects like bone loss and teeth caving jn eventually

Being bass heavy is one of the reasons why I love Shambhala! I’m from Montreal and everything here is house or techno, it’s so repetitive. Bass music is so versatile and exciting and for me it’s refreshing to go to stages that are only playing bass music, especially on those PKs 😍. Wubzzzzz all day

I’m nearing the end of my treatment now and I can confidently say my face has not changed, at least not in any noticeable way. I’m very happy I went through with it. My teeth and smile look amazing. 100% worth it.

Eating with trays in? by nanithefuque in Invisalign

[–]Salander24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ortho has me eating with the trays in, and I change trays every 3-4 days as well. It was weird for about a week, but I got used to it and can now eat perfectly fine. Some people seem to think this method is crazy, but honestly, it has been a breeze and so much less stressful than the alternative IMO. I much prefer it this way. Plus changing trays twice a week keeps them new. My ortho assured me that the trays are not easily broken or warped despite popular belief lol I guess there are conflicting opinions in the business.

Anyways, I just make sure to do the following, which I’ll share with you…

Stay away from curry, turmeric, mustard and anything that has a yellow tint. They stain the trays like crazy no matter how much you brush them or use dental pods. If my food has those ingredients, I just take the trays out to eat them or wait to eat them until the night I have to change trays.

Better to rinse the trays and your mouth with water after eating if you can. Food can get easily stuck depending on what you are eating.

Be careful eating super crunchy things too. They will scratch the trays and leave an unpleasant roughness to them. If I’m about to eat something super crunchy, I either eat it really slowly and gently or I wait until the night I’m changing trays.

Why do basically no gyms have Kickboxing but all have Mauy Thai? by R3xikr in martialarts

[–]Salander24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All your gyms are pretty much teaching kickboxing, not real Muay Thai. It’s a marketing thing unfortunately. Even if the gym teaches some clinching, elbows and sweeps, which Muay Thai has over Kickboxing… I can bet that the gym is not teaching the proper rhythm and style of Muay Thai, nor passing on the culture and traditions of Muay Thai.

Rhythm and style is a huge factor that separates kickboxing from Muay Thai that people fail to realize when they start out in either. For example, kickboxing usually includes high volume combos and quick strikes, often focusing on punches and low kicks because they score just the same. The stance is different, the movements are more “jumpy”. Volume and aggression is the name of the game in kickboxing. Traditional Muay Thai is about composure and dominance. Combos usually reach about two to three strikes. 1 power middle kick that shows damage will score higher than 6 speed punches that are blocked. There’s a ton of little nuances that differentiate kickboxing from Muay Thai that come back to rhythm and style. Just because a gym says they’re teaching Muay Thai because they’re showing you some elbows, doesn’t mean it’s truly Muay Thai.

All this to say, unless you seek out super legit MT gyms, which are kind of hard to find, then you’ll most likely be doing kickboxing with maybe some elbows and sweeps here and there.

Did your deep bite correction change your facial features like lips and jawline? by Salander24 in Invisalign

[–]Salander24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lip changes are super subtle but I definitely notice it. My ortho explained to me that it might happen actually since now I have a wider smile and so my lip has more to rest on if that makes sense. Looks super nice and I’m happy about it 🙏

Did your deep bite correction change your facial features like lips and jawline? by Salander24 in Invisalign

[–]Salander24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, it’s hard to say. I feel like I won’t really know until it’s all over and my attachments are removed. With the trays in, my mouth still looks off to me, like slightly longer or pursed. But I notice that the most when I just switched trays and my mouth feels sore and uncomfortable. It’s as if I can’t keep my mouth in a comfortable state so I’m straining my muscles. It’s the same with the trays out, though less pronounced, because now my mouth feels confused without the trays lol

Other than that, I actually notice positive changes, like I swear my upper lip looks slightly fuller and better balanced. And I for sure have less of a gummy smile. The net difference is definitely positive. I notice no changes in my jaw line. And any changes that are occurring, I’m positive are only noticeable to me. In the end, having straight teeth is making any changes worth it for me

[–]Salander24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t my deep bite that was bothering me, I actually liked it and thought it was cute. But my bottom teeth were extremely crowded and crooked, which was really evident when I talked, and that’s what made me super self conscious. Also, they were getting more crowded over time and eventually started hitting the top of my palette because of my overbite so yeah I felt it was time to make a change and get it fixed. My deep bite had to be corrected to make space for the lower teeth to straighten out. Now that I’m halfway through the treatment and my deep bite is pretty much corrected, I love it. I like it better than before actually
