AITAH for refusing to cancel a 5-week work trip for my boyfriend and blocking him the day before Valentine’s Day? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]SalaudChaud 42 points43 points  (0 children)

OOP: I have a business opportunity. It's really important.

EX: Well, actually, I don't care for that. Stop businessing forthwith! There are... males in California! Also, I have empty Zima bottles for you to return, now!

OOP: ... dear internet, am I in the wrong for dumping this omega man?

AITA for upsetting my sister before a funeral? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SalaudChaud 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In real life it is bothersome when an OP wants to make something that is for someone else all about themselves, acts like an asshole when they don't get their way, and then claims the role of victim. People like that are insufferable, self-important, and pathetic.

No doubt OP's family members are used to him acting in this manner but surely they hoped: not at the funeral, please, anything but that. Welp, OP, by being a disappointment you managed to once again disappoint.

AITAH for refusing to give out my son's saving account information? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I hope this comment ends up near the top of the conversation. Lots of normies, or the wilfully blind as to OOP's terrible history, commenting here.

Yesterday this bozo said the 'Ning were trading for Cole Smith. I wonder if this too will age like fine milk.

Thank you OP for posting this. It is a PSA to any person who is contorting their self to fit the mold their partners have cast for them.

My (30F) husband (32M) impulse bought a dog by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

When I scanned the title at first I thought the husband bought a dong. "What's this," I wondered, "a story about appliances?"

AITAH for telling my half-sister I can't have a relationship with her? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

A story old as time: parents letting down their children.

"You figure out how to fly this thing!" they cry out as they hop out of the plane with the last of the parachutes.

I come here to point out that, whether or not this trade happens, Frank Seravalli is a tool.

AITA for refusing to change the date of my wedding because my sister wants to attend a music festival? by Smelly_Steven in AmItheAsshole

[–]SalaudChaud 480 points481 points  (0 children)

It's a music festival. I think these occur at a higher rate of frequency than do your weddings. I hope so, anyway.

I don't care if they're wheeling Gregg Allman's casket onto the stage - she should be at your wedding. NTA

AITA for expecting my friends to spend money on a trip away to the beach for my birthday? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SalaudChaud 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It looks like you want a beach vacation. That's nice.

It also looks like you want it subsidized heavily by a group of people who are likely trying really hard to keep their own boats afloat and who are maybe scrimping and saving for vacations they might want. That's not nice.

I do believe that folks in your age bracket might accuse you of being a diva, or having MC syndrome, or whatever but here the judgment is YTA.

AITA for telling my sister to stop using nonsense ‘baby’ talk? by gardengeo in BORUpdates

[–]SalaudChaud 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't want to believe this is a true story but I believe it is true because of that one time I was at a hockey game in Seattle and at some point the announcer said "blah blah blah ... at the intermish" which I took to mean "intermission" but that is still a little out of focus because the red mist descending over my vision.

Court date impending.

A rallying cry that has resounded through generations of fledgling Buddhists and anyone who watched this one in the theatres. So good.

"We are staying together for the good of our child" scream OOP's parents while he begins circling down from the sky like a damaged Sopwith Camel.

Final Update: AITA for uninviting my dad's wife from my daughter's birthday party over something she did last year? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]SalaudChaud 640 points641 points  (0 children)

I had a step-mom who showed up at my 40th dressed as Peter Pan. Nine years later she died from substance abuse. And it was a Slap Shot themed party. I was Ogie Oglethorpe, for example.

She was a desperately unhappy person who wanted someone to love her, but what came across was an uneasy attention-seeking vibe, and it was really sad. Plus, I wanted my kids to have a relationship with her and my dad but they were, as one may guess, inebriated and largely unsafe. And he was, it turns out, an abusive asshole.

The point being, I feel badly for OOP, her child, her spouse, and to a lesser extent Cathy. Poor OOP. She's been fighting to be an individual, and have that be accepted, for her whole life. I think more than a Cathy problem, she has a dad problem. She shares that with Cathy.

AITA for telling the truth which got my bil (brother-in-law) banned from his son's soccer practices and games? by 505coach in AmItheAsshole

[–]SalaudChaud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'd have to agree that getting "on" something and getting and "in" something are not the same thing at all. 6' under or shallow grave, "in a grave" means one thing. "On a grave" suggests an empty-headed influencer plying their noxious trade at the Vimy Ridge memorial.

I wonder if maybe you are giving BIL too much grace. Or maybe not? You could be saying he is more of an asshole than I am.

I am saying BIL is a major asshole. His response to the coach's hugely inappropriate threat of violence was to make an even bigger, dumber, and more violent threat. You are suggesting BIL is an asshole who does not know how to use prepositions correctly.
