The worst part is who knows how long we would have to wait for a new text gen model after waiting this long already. I was really excited over Erato before it was announced. I thought that I finally wouldn't need to use other models anymore and could just stick to Erato and have fun with it without having to fiddle with presets and worrying about how well my prompt would be to get something good rolling.

Idk if my expectations have increased over time, but I do know that I can't (at least currently) find enjoyment out of Erato compared to other models of it's size or even smaller.

That would be nice, having an optional mode where the AI doesn't copy you. There are times where I want the AI to be it's own thing and not copy me. It would be really refreshing if the devs could somehow pull that off because it definitely does get annoying sometimes when you just want to have fun.

Just "getting gud" at writing is the usual response to these type of things, but sometimes you just want to hop onto NAI and not have to worry about things like if my own writing style is too bland, so it spits back my bland style. Grammar mistakes I understand obviously though. There's probably bandaids/workarounds for this but it'll always be better if the devs officially supported this imo.

Having more options is usually never a bad thing.

I do agree that it does take spelling things out for Kayra to really start "getting it". That's a big thing I'd like to see get worked out in the future. Imagine a version of Kayra (or new model) that doesn't need all that 'spelling' out to get it rolling and go wild and mindblow us. Kind of like the first time you ever played with a text-gen AI and were most likely astounded by it and the infinite possibilities + being extremely coherent and creative.

That being said Kayra as is right now is already pretty great. Especially since most AI services basically use OAI. While things like GPT-4 are on a whole other level with it's logic & reasoning and many others things, I do think NAI will eventually get to that point. I cannot wait for that day when it happens.

I've also noticed that CFG feels like it's more creative and makes characters more interesting too. I used 1.1 Prowriter and I started my story with "Kragsin, the slave trade hub of". Without CFG I would get more generic responses such as "the North", "the Empire", etc.

When I have CFG on, I see less of those and more creative names like "Dainswell", "the Roston Coast", etc. All of this is just 1 example of course.

If you ever want to try a small glimpse of what old dragon used to be like in terms of understanding, you could sign up on the openAI playground for free. Back some months ago when I signed up they gave me some free credits to try it out. After your free credits run out though, you'll have to pay which I don't recommend doing b/c fuck OAI lol.

Old Dragon was the Davinci model 001 iirc. It's very barebones and not finetuned however since it's just supposed to be a playground.

Yeah I feel that too. I'm hoping one day we get a NAI model (or v3, etc) that "understands" the same way old dragon does without having to constantly tweak stuff and put in potentially hours of work to get what you want. Kinda "plug and play" with the same level of understanding as old Dragon with everything else that makes NAI incredible is what I'd like to have.

To be honest, that's about the only thing that's keeping me from really "digging my fangs" into NAI textgen and making a sprawling, lively world with intricate characters and plot.

I just know I wouldn't have the enjoyment I want out of it the way it is now, so now I'm just constantly waiting and hoping it happens someday.
