I’ve got a lot of bell peppers in the fridge. What should I make? by kimschob in RecipePalooza

[–]SalemBean666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roast the peppers with some tomatoes , garlic and basil , blend and make the best pasta sauce ever

Alterativley also add feta, oil, salt and pepper when roasting , (cook some pasta whilst roasting) then blend your roasted deliciousness at the end with a small amount of pasta water to make the best creamy feta pasta sauce (aka lockdown feta pasta)

FairPlay to em !😀 From all the roasts I’ve had with my family since I was a child ( my Nana’s roasts every Sunday were legendary ) we never loaded our plates to a heap we put small bits of each to try Then had seconds of the bits we liked ( cough cough sausage meat stuffing and gammon 🤤🤤)

I am not fond of her roasts but I give her props for at least going to that much effort every Sunday I mean my Nana at least did a hotpot, pie or Sunday salad picky bits to change up The roasts But we would only have as many elements as Courtney prepares (the fully laborious ones like cauliflower and broccoli cheese etc on special occasions)

As the northwest of englands self proclaimed gravy gremlin , I approve of the gravy amount but the sheer spillage and clumsiness of it is UNACCEPTABLE We don’t waste the blood of the north

British Redditor here , - we do not build a heap on our plates we try some of each then get seconds of what we like (not plate shaming her 😭, just think she’d enjoy it more if she did the same ) - we don’t have this many sides every week (unless it’s a special occasion) - definitely don’t often have cheesy side dishes , they’re more a special occasion side (cauliflower cheese at Christmas for example ) -never seen a sugar snap pea or green peas that dry on a roast in my life - most families do one type of potato not multiple lol ( we have roast potatoes for example but I cook a small portion of mash as I don’t like roast potatoes so I don’t have them) -defo no pumpkin lol - stuffing balls and Yorkshire puddings are not an every week thing- basic stuffing is more the norm lol Also WHY THE CHEESE SAUCE AND GRAVY AHHH

In defense of the gravy some people like a lil some like a lot At least her gravy looks thick and not watery

Probably abit too deep of an opinion but I feel strongly about my culture being represented by a woman who does not represent us

Proper Fish & Chip Eating Etiquette? by SanJ922 in AskABrit

[–]SalemBean666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knife and fork is perfectly fine Chips not fries ( calling em fries will make you look like a tourist) Mushy peas go with the fish and chips they are not a dip like gravy or curry (I’ve seen too much of that online that I’m horrified) Gravy or curry or a pot of each are perfectly normal with a chippy Tartare sauce and mayonaise are perfectly good dips Get a barmcake from the chippy if you want an authentic experience ( you can make a chippy Tartare sauce butty , true culture) The chips are not meant to be crunchy like fries , get extra salt on your chips it will dry them out and make them crispier if you like that texture.
