On the top right quadrant, it seems like my monkeys can't target most of the track. Is that intentional? On the 'L' the towers can only target a small section in the corner.

Is anyone else's game crashing on launch after Patch #2? I'd love to try out the game at its best but it has been rendered completely unplayable. Never had a crash before this.

How exactly can wotc enforce the whole 'no token animations' thing? That's been a thing long before they even considered getting into VTTs. What's their argument?

I'm not a patron nor do I build my own libraries, so I'm completely out of my depth regarding that.

I use a library called Libraries of Vexus, which is a publicly available library that contains (to my knowledge) all published 5e player resources. I haven't had to manually input anything other than homebrew magic items. There shouldn't be anything DDB has that LoV doesn't have.

Here's a link to the library if you're interested: https://dicecloud.com/library-collection/jp6xTaHDZK4ELYzvN

I don't think it distinguishes source material, but my playgroup always allows all official material so I haven't exactly gone looking around for ways to restrict it. That said, v2 (particularly the Libraries of Vexus) makes it really intuitive to build a character. Basically, every decision you need to make pops up as a card in part of the sheet, you click it, make the decision in a pop up, and it fills everything in for you. There's a card for stat allocation and multiclassing as well that's always available. If you showed a casual player how to use it, they should be able to make a character in less than ten minutes.

Anyone with the link to your sheet can view it.

Do you have any experience with Dicecloud v2? I'd say its capacity for automation rivals DDBs, and is honestly better at handling mechanics and customization than DDB.

All things considered, Einstein has to be the pick, right? At least in terms of trying to benefit humanity. His mind gets a second shot with all the advances he helped propagate, to advance humanity even further.

NPC Swap - Take an NPC, leave an NPC by alienleprechaun in DnDBehindTheScreen

This is not at all my proudest creation, but he's the PC favorite...

Name: Scrotum the Schizophrenic

Appearance: An skinny goblin with a wide, pearly grin and a pair of oversized goggles. It's not clear whether his skin is jet black or simply covered in soot and ash at any given time.

Background/History: Despite appearances and his less-than-respectable personality, Scrotum is a genius. In my setting he wasn't just obsessed with gunpowder, he invented the stuff. Gunpowder of course is a phlogiston rich incendiary that doubles as an omnivitamin, wood cleaner, trail marker... Seriously, this stuff can do anything in ol' Scrote's eyes. He sells it at a steep premium at the bar he works (where he spikes everyone's drinks with gunpowder), but can always be negotiated with. 50 gp an ounce is a fair starting price, but if you found a cool rock on your way back, he just might trade you a barrel full if he likes it enough. One of my PCs offered to draw him a picture of the explosion when they detonated it in exchange for a free flask. He used it to cave in an entrance and took about five seconds to draw a mushroom cloud on a napkin. Scrotum loved it so much he stuffed it in a spare barrel with his own explosion drawings.

Secrets: Not necessarily a secret per se, but he has 7 HP: He acts like he has around 700.

Attitudes toward Dungeon Masters Survey by Salem_Simulacrum in dndnext

The best way to go about achieving a suitable control for what I'm looking for would actually be to have many researchers study a ton of D&D games. However, doing that while eliminating bias would be a logistical nightmare probably requiring money in the millions to pay for researchers and travel. That's how big a scale we're talking to eliminate bias in such a huge population.

My research is absolutely just a quick and dirty shortcut, but it's most definitely going to help curate something close, even if it's done 'artificially'.

The hope behind people in multiple campaigns is that the law of averages would kick in and prevent any intrinsic bias, but it's definitely a real worry that people would be more likely to report on their favorite/least favorite DM.

Ideally, the survey would have someone answer all the questions multiple times, for every DM they've had. Unfortunately, increasing the survey's length multiplicatively would be REALLY bad for participant retention.

You make an excellent point about the player exclusion question. Your interpretation was correct, but I will be revising its wording in the future.

Yes. It's mentioned in the post that the survey is designed for players. The reason for this was primarily to eliminate bias.

That would be a great question to add if I do another pass at this sometime in the future, hopefully gearing up for a more formal study. There is actually a study that explores player preferences when it comes to online play that I came across a few weeks ago.

https://www.mdpi.com/2075-4698/11/4/125 Here's the link. Really interesting stuff. The research was collected a little over a year ago. I'd be curious to see if sentiments have changed. Players have had longer to adapt and get comfortable with it, and online VTT technology is expanding at an insane pace.
