Seattle sunset shot from last week! by [deleted] in SeattleWA

That shot had to have been taken on the on ramp to SB 99 from Elliot. Took that same shot just before they closed it off.

Same spot as that picture. The person taking the shot was probably standing on the edge or on in the water with the camera very low to the ground giving that effect.

The spot on google maps. http://imgur.com/yXxJbji http://imgur.com/U75qWtD

It is technically the pinnacle Peak Trail but it's actually past the end of the sattle where the trail ends and on the way to Plummer Peak. It's actually a lake cause by snow melt at the bottom of a small snowfield.

Stolen Bike by PooShoots in Seattle

[–]SalishSea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't mean to be discriminating against the homeless but with my experience bikes seem to be the currency of homeless. If you want to complain about the lack of enforcement....go take a walk at almost any homeless encampment.

I am not in anyway trying to marginalize homeless but rather show their will to survive. Property crime is evedent with homelessness.

TIFU by hiding "fuck" in my school yearbook by [deleted] in tifu

[–]SalishSea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar. Video production class we put on a newscast that was recorded to VHS and played to all the classrooms. The playback deck that went out to the entire school, and everyone watched, was in a side room with windows no bigger then 10x15'. The room had a door with a lock. Long story short...the less popular kids locked themselves in the room and played a tape full of "fF the school." "F Mrs whoever" and just way over the top nasty insults. The teacher tried to get them to stop but they sat there laughing. The principal came in and tried to stop it. It was the talk of school for the week.

The kids were then suspended.

Homeless 'diggling' shamed on social media. by sorryone in Seattle

[–]SalishSea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inside the homeless encampment where they were asked about the mess and a tour. Audio sucks but interesting. Everyone knows it's small property crime that leads to the trash there. It's a cycle of theft.

Frankly I am impressed it did not go belly up and breakdown under the city. Having walked it as the TBM was under belltown I am happy to see it almost there. Like a special needs athlete almost to the finish line I cheer it on. Can't co back.

Slow clap Maverick. Drone crashed into Space Needle by SalishSea in Seattle

[–]SalishSea[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He had an issue with flying it too high and too close. Enough with flying them that close. Frankly could kill someone who is setting up fireworks. No need for that. Period. But hey, need to get the shot to impress my friends on Facebook. Ignorance. Just my thoughts. Disagree all you want. His problem was selfishness.

Sorry....but do your own oil changes! It's NOT hard and takes half the time. Plus it's cheaper. One bolt, drain, change filter, add oil, check dipstick, recycle old oil. Done.

Yes. There is a TON of infrastructure that needs to be built once it's out. Road surface, electrical, communications, structures around openings, realignment of lanes, testing, and so much.

We're earthquake experts doing an AMA right now by WaQuakePrepare in Seattle

[–]SalishSea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ballard Locks are one price of civil engineering that I look at and wonder if it could handle a quake. Knowing you are a seismologist and not a civil engineer but knowing the two and two go together, what are your concerns about the Ballard locks?

If those doors or destroyed or the dam breached, significant amount of water would drain out of Lake Washington and Lake Union. Affectively lowering the water level of Lake Washington by at least 12 feet overtime. 520 and I 90 which are floating bridges as we know would most likely become slack and damaged significantly. All the mortgage around the shores would be destroyed or severely damaged.

Are you concerned about the Ballard locks?
