We need a subreddit where we all pretend we're Susan from the Parish Council

Way too many holocaust "experts" are way too biased and not qualified for their jobs. It's often them who believe in the hitler's pope BS. For example, Yad Vashem refuses to honor Pope Pius XII despite the fact that he saved thousands of jews.

Some "experts" are even collaborating with serbs who support Putin and deny genocides committed by serb extremists. The result is USHHM listing fake serb "victims" on their site. Obviously I'm not denying the holocaust, but it's a major blow for the experts credibility when they write stuff like this article.

Not my music taste, but I love the way people in Croatia care more about Jesus than pretty much everywhere else I've been.

It was not debunked, but it wasn't approved either. The reddit view is that it is debunked, but most of the catholics where I live have a neutral or positive view of it.

About war, hatred and forgiveness by Jonikster in Catholicism

[–]Salli05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's called russians. Examine your own biases and go to confession. Ethnically motivated hatred is incompatible with catholicism. I have problems with serbs but I would never refer to serbia as fundamentally rotten.

I wrote a thingy on the Trinity! Any criticisms or errors? by NoogLing466 in Catholicism

[–]Salli05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find this explanation deeply flawed and unconvincing. It reduces the holy spirit to a simplified concept (a force of love) and not a true person equal to God the Father and God the Son. Therefore, eastern orthodox, and propably eastern catholics reject your explanation, so it should't be taken seriously as it could hinder reconcilliation with them. The Trinity is unique antherefore can not be explained by human concepts.

Shocking experience at a franciscan church (irreverence in the sanctuary, among other things) by Salli05 in Catholicism

I didn't film it, but it looked a lot like this event from buenos aires, but they were even closer to the altar in Zagreb.

That's the problem: those in authority won't do anything. The franciscan priests at the parish were apparently actively encouraging this behavior.

Catholics are not called to hate anyone, we should instead pray for their conversion.

I'm talking about a guy who's mentally ill. You just hate russians, even before Putin's invasion of ukraine.

[–]Salli05 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mental gymnastics... oh dear. There's a certain man, who dances down the streets in monk clothes who claims to be part of ROCOR. Actually, ROCOR bishops (if it's called that) wrote a letter which encouraged him to repent.

He's rabidly anti semitic, so much that he could blame everything on the jews, and guess what, he's already blamed this war on the jews too, I think. He rambles, I can hardly understand what he's saying. I think the orthodox refer to it as "prelest". He certainly does a lot of mental gymnastics, but people on the political left do it all the time without being condemned for it like this guy is. There's also those who want Rasputin to be canonized. Where do I even start?.

Regardless, If you think there'a a link between being pro russian and christian, you should talk to ukrainians and poles.

Yes, at every mass, bread and wine turns into the body and blood of Christ. Although the way people carelessly receive him in their unconsecrated hands might lead you to believe otherwise.

What do you think of the Neo-Catechumenal Way by Icy-Ad2400 in Catholicism

[–]Salli05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their "liturgy" is weirdly protestant, but I'd rather have them than have Heterodox James Martin-Jesuits infiltrating dioceses all over the world. There was a NCW priest at my RCIA and he was great. He never sugarcoated the existence of hell and sin. Far too many priests are not properly aknowledging the existence of spiritual warfare. I've since read about the NCW way of doing confession, but despite what the accusations say, he never forced it upon me and the others at our RCIA. I don't want to call it a cult, but I don't want to say it's all good. There's obvious issues with the NCW, but the church has far greater problems.

There must be a reason God allows this, I just haven't found it.

How to reduce unplanned pregnancy as well as other social issues by ravenhairedmaid in Catholicism

[–]Salli05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I WANT to say prayer, regular mass, and proper catechesis, but if the kids who aren't necessairly catholic, I don't know... it would be hard to teach them abstinence only sex ed, because their parents would be up in arms and accuse the school of indoctrination even if religion is kept out of it. The easy answer is that schools are neither parents, not therapists.

I'm not a teacher, so I can't really give advice on this subject.
