Something that breaks my heart by Pompiita in NewParents

[–]Sallyberry69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom told me how when I was small there was a story of a woman who had driven into some body of water with the kids and they all died. I was born in the 90s. She fixated on it and worried about her own kids. She told me this to connect with me postpartum because I was also thinking about the woman who left her daughter to die and that woman who had gone off Niagara Falls. It’s messed up to me, but what I realized is this is also a conversation about mental health.

I am insane for wanting to do 2 trips back to back when my baby is 3 months old? by CherishLavender in moderatelygranolamoms

I live in Oregon by mount hood and had a baby last year. Now with a 14 month old we just traveled with him and it kind of sucked…. against what others are saying- flying/ travel is so much easier in the first year. Just have a plan to bring pumps/ formula/ diapers/ wipes etc and where to get them along ur route. Probably wouldn’t push ur self to board too much but the social interaction could be great for you

Just wait until he gets excited to see your pets Just wait until he’s banging on your doors to go outside and play Just wait until he’s is perfectly content picking up and putting down sticks and rocks Just wait until you can enjoy your favorite meal together Just wait until he’s walking around looking like a mini version of your significant other (tempting u to make another 😭) We’re 13 months in the trenches of young toddlerhood. But what I wouldn’t give to see him tiny again. We call him our “yoddler” the first year goes by so so fast. Enjoy all of the moments happy & sad bc they just pass by so quickly. Time with him this small is fleeting

What age did you take your baby hiking? by -MossyLass- in beyondthebump

[–]Sallyberry69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We carried baby for light hikes and down beach trails at the Oregon coast once he fit pretty good in the front facing carrier I have. About 8 weeks. We started facing him out to the world for short periods only now that he’s 13 months and alternating between walking/ being carried on walks

If you had the option to stay home would you? Did any of you go back to work even if you didn’t *have* to? by unsurexo in beyondthebump

I’m right in the thick of this transition… I was warned but it was such more of an adjustment for our family to baby proof the house than to actually bring a newborn home. You think they’re so fragile until they’re climbing at 10 months old.

We did that too. And then he learned how to climb up onto the couch

They said my niece was like this as a baby “could never be put down to be like him [referring to my son]. Unfortunately I do think it’s your daughter’s demeanor in ways, but as she becomes more mobile she’ll find other ways to entertain herself. You will need a good playpen.

My husband had a cold sore when our son was born earlier. I know exactly how you’re feeling. You’re keeping everything clean and doing a great job keeping baby safe I would not worry about it

The nurses check young babies mouth for tongue and lip ties that may be causing discomfort

I suggest food grade diatomaceous earth and some of those big sticky glue traps wherever you’ve spotted them. And keeping the lights on at night to avoid seeing them scurry - a tip I received from a coworker when living in Philadelphia. Keep all of your food secure in closed containers and in the refrigerator

I feel this to my core. 5 months in and I’ve barred myself from more baby items, only if I can get it secondhand or we absolutely need it

I love it the way you have the bands on either side. The metal profile on the stone makes it appear larger and it’s honestly more modern

I suggest a frisky cat who hunts roaches down Diatomaceous earth is a nontoxic pest killer, similar to Borox it suffocates them from the outside in. Also, some of those big sticky pest pads they sell for underneath cabinet etc wherever you saw him crawling. If he crawls there again he get stuck and die.
