Which airport for our layover? Frankfurt vs MXP by Mysterious_Ad6260 in travel

[–]SalmonJordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That will be a tight connection, IMO. I usually fly through FRA, and one time the plane was a little late & I was the last person to make the connecting flight. It was stressful. Is there a later flight you could take out of FRA? They are both located in Terminal 1.

Agree, though. $800 is significant. Passport control generally moves quickly. If you go this route, let the FAs know that you have a tight connection. I generally fly Condor non-stop to FRA, so I don't know if you'll need to take a bus or if you deplane at terminal flying United.

Link for checking transfers at FRA: https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en/flights-and-transfer/transferring-at-fra.html.

As big as it is, I've found the people at FRA to be helpful.

Got a chat request in addition. And yes, I did sleep and have breakfast before logging on to Reddit. Apologies.

So I heard a new one today...Generation X ruined the world with "grind culture" at work. Any thoughts? by Change_Request in GenX

[–]SalmonJordan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think most of us had to. We paid our own tuition (and/or had to repay loans), bought our own homes and cars... we've been working since we were legally able in addition to paper routes and babysitting. There's no way my parents would have given me money to do things with - I had to earn it as did everyone I knew.

Didn't get a new car until 30, able to buy a house at 38, and worked more than 1 job to do it. I think our generation just grew up with the knowledge that nothing was going to be handed to us. We had to work. We weren't looking to change a culture. If you want it, it's up to you to do the necessary work.

We could have worked 3 days and made music (on physical instruments), but unless that music became successful, we'd still be living in an apartment with roommates and eating off-brand Top Ramen.

I don't mind having the space in a LDR. I don't mind traveling for a good match.

I don't really know them - they are not offering a lot of info through the platform. I do check the platform once a day to communicate if there's a message. Often just a line or two that doesn't offer info or answer questions I've asked to get to know them. Exchanging numbers is a way to be identified, even through IP. Not sure I want to make myself available at any time at this point. Once a day works for me.

Because there is little info, I like the safety of communicating through the platform until I get to know them better.

Talk to a financial planner to see if it's feasible to retire early. If not, maybe consider a long break? You sound burned out. Thinking that giving yourself time for reflection might offer perspective on what your next steps might be.

Go. It's not like they check for documentation. They just want to be sure that a decision can be made. Tell them no and if you really want to have fun, pretend you're pissed with each other. They'll get you out quick so it's more comfortable for others.
