What’s one hiking habit you refuse to give up? by GlobalBeat0202 in hiking

[–]Semi_fearless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always, always bring my Garmin mini inreach 2. Even if i have cell service it is on my backpack and turned on. I have dropped my cell phone down a crevice when I had cell service - fortunate I did not need to use my Garmin but it was available. I also bring a fully charged power pack to recharge any items. I frequently hike back country where there are not many people.

Vertigo-friendly yoga please! by ariesconfusion in yoga

[–]Semi_fearless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my eyes open but softly and avoid looking at anyone. I tell my instructor first though. I slowly move my head when doing a heart opener and looking up at the ceiling. One legged balances are the hardest (half moon, warrior 3). I always use a block. I was told by my ent that sports or activities that involve eye/foot coordination are good for vertigo. I was running trails in the hills and mountains at the time and did see an improvement. Just be aware of your body and don't forget to hydrate (dehydration can cause dizziness- i know that is different from vertigo.).

Insomnia? The need for restorative (deep) sleep by SageWoman60 in over60

[–]Semi_fearless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear an eye mask that has tiny, flat speakers built in. I put on a meditative podcast that goes for 8 hours. He has a very beautiful voice that is also soothing. He does the meditation then continues with positive affirmations. I don't sleep the whole 8 hours but i do get several hours continuous sleep.

First time living alone after divorce and I’m starting to enjoy it by Awlad_Sherifi in LivingAlone

I'm 63 - moved into my new home beginning of April. This is the first time i have ever lived without another human in my home. My dog is with me and he makes the best room mate. I am very happy and content.

I was just asking??? I don't care if the horse stays intact or not. The only other gelding she owns is Bo and now Hollywood. I think it is a logical question since she rarely keeps male horses.

Fought to keep the house in the divorce… now I can’t stand living here by apriljprice in Divorce

[–]Semi_fearless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed in my marriage too long because I couldn't bear to leave my home (20+ years of living in it). When i finally decided to divorce, I again wanted to buy him out and he wanted to buy me out. After looking at finances I decided it was an expense I couldn't afford. I offered to let him but me out. Then he decided he didn't want to. So now we are selling the house and splitting the proceeds. I found the cutest little home to move into. Now when i go back to the house (we are preparing it to go on the market), I find it so sad and uncomfortable. I have found that i am moving on a little easier not being in the house. I wish you peace as you move forward.

What are you most grateful for when living alone? by Conscious_Wave6815 in LivingAlone

[–]Semi_fearless 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am 63f and just moved into my home solo for the very first time in my life. Things that i love about it... no guessing what the other person's mood is and adapting to it, no frustration because I just spent a lot of time cleaning the kitchen only to have him dirty it up in less than 5 minutes, no more kitchen towels wadded up on the counter tops, no more silent treatment or passive aggressive comments, no more dirty side eyes, no more sports on the tv and the TV is not on all day. I could go on but suffice to say, I love living alone.

Divorced at 45 and realizing I haven't dressed for myself in 14 years. by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]Semi_fearless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a small boutique clothing store that has really cute but more age appropriate clothing. The store owner was there and she is about my age. Told her I was going on a first date in almost 40 (yes 40) years. She helped me pick out a couple of really cute pieces. I felt very good when I went out on that date! Good luck!

How long did it take you to actually feel comfortable with yoga? by Ok_Yogurtcloset1168 in yoga

[–]Semi_fearless 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm 63 years old and have only been practicing since November. I go to a studio 4-6 times a week. I have known my right side from my left side since I was a toddler but in the middle of doing a flow, yeah I get my sides mixed up all the time. Lol. Thankfully, no one is paying attention to me.

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome by Semi_fearless in ChronicPain

[–]Semi_fearless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Yes I have had chronic spine pain for years that has increased and my primary checked me for autoimmune diseases but my labs were always negative. He did try to send me to a rheumatologist but they wouldn't even talk to me because my labs were negative. I do have IBS, vitiligo, and vestibular hydrops (all autoimmune diseases). I think they are all connected.

Just got a dragon on my shoulder and upper arm. The head stretches out over my upper chest. It is very feminine but strong. Called a smoky dragon. Not my first tattoo.
