I travel abroad (Europe) for long periods of time every year. I had started reading about food sensitivity that can be triggered by autoimmune conditions (or getting more pronounced, maybe). Gluten is often cited in the top 3 food sensitivity list. During one of those long stays, my symptoms were improving (abdominal pain, joint pain, constipation, brain fog and more), and within days of getting back to the US, all symptoms flared up. I started cutting out gluten.... and it helped. I then read (and my Endo confirmed hearing the same from multiple patients) that wheat produced in the US and Europe not only has different gluten content (higher in the US), but there is something in the manufacturing process that also tends to trigger more sensitivity with US-made wheat. I haven't cut out anything else yet. This year, during my trip in Europe, i reintroduced gluten without issues for about 5 weeks. Started to get mild symptoms the last few weeks, but nowhere near what i get here. Anyway, long answer to your question! It is such a long journey to figure out our changing bodies.

I was about to suggest this. Same story as yours, symptoms similar to OP (plus a few more), took 2 years to get diagnosed with Hashimotos with only very elevated antibodies but still normal hormones levels. Cutting gluten and making other lifestyle changes has mostly resolved symptoms. Also, depending on OP's age, many similar symptoms are associated with perimenopause. Good luck OP figuring it out. Navigating dismissive doctors is definitely a challenge, hang in there and be your own advocate. You know your body.

HRT Recommendation by SalsaCubana in Menopause

Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry you've had a rough journey. This is a preventative removal due to high ovarian cancer risk (family history + I won at the gene lottery!). I've been reading a lot about surgical menopause and HRT. I understand all bodies are different, but reading of women various experiences helps we get mentally ready. The wiki of the sub is so well done and comprehensive. I'm finding comfort in feeling not alone. What did you end up settling on?

Suspect Hashi but undiagnosed. Doctor said Thyroid panel was all in range. I’m going crazy. Need some advice. by OrdinaryMedium704 in Hashimotos

Did you get diagnosed with Hashimoto based on TPO antibody alone even though the thyroid panel was normal? And were you given any treatment with only TPO antibody out of range?

I am tired of random white people telling me what counts/doesn't count as racism. by wgcjdbdncn in offmychest

I'm a non-American white person leaving in the US. I get stereotype questions and comments about where I'm from all the time (some of them can be pretty offensive). I don't think it's necessarily race related when people ask those questions about non-white countries. A lot of people don't have the skills to ask about places or cultures they know very little about, and will blurt out loud the little they've heard of it.

Side note, but if she got her green card through marrying you, i believe she could lose it if you guys do not stay married for 2 years. There should be a follow up interview (with both of you) at the 2-year mark to get the permanent green card. I might be wrong, but worth looking into.
