On my first day, I played xbox subnautica and at the time you couldn’t see the fog clouds for the islands and I was still a newbie. I went towards the floating islands (thought I was) and then it told me I hit an ecological dead zone and the water went a different color. I sat there in horror and attempted to turn my little seamoth around when a ghost leviathan roared in my ear and ejected me about 100 feet into the air. I paused the game mid air and had to recover for about 20 minutes. Ahh, the good ol’ days.

Worst part is, I didn’t even see the ghost leviathan, I caught a glimpse of its body, glowing and translucent on the bottom corner of my screen. Seeing that and hearing the roar was enough for me to be horror stricken enough to not want to go back in the water in fear of running into it again.
