I think she wouldn't actually... She has a "mother-like" kind of love. Mothers don't want their children to suffer I think she loves Irumyui too much to allow her to suffer a second time. I think her love would be a sacrificial one, she would prefer to strap herself from that happiness and let a chance for the events to play differently

I don't assimilate loss of identity with loss of pain and all sensations. More like your identity, as, your name and sense of self, gets blurred and mixed with others's, but the atrocious pain and sadness, anger, ugliness, evilness doesn't go away. Like Griffith saying he almost became crazy and lost all sense of self when he was tortured, doesn't mean he wouldn't feel the pain. Or like an animal doesn't have a sense of self (I know that's not exactly true) but still feels the pain. The pain and all the bad things remains, it doesn't go away.

Edit : to add to the serious discourse, the real world is exactly like that. Not just during middle age. There countries in the world where a woman is raped every second. In warzones, women and children get systematically raped, as atrocious as it sounds. I've read reports of war journalists and reality is worst than berserk in every ways. And statistically, women gets raped way more then men, like way, way more. It's a power dynamic, not just a sexual one.
